...it's OK game, i like it...few new things...
Espers are back and are many
Revenant Wings has fine battles, decent gameplay (spoiler! Vaan has become sky pirate). FF is IMO great serial and it's great time consumer (i played almost everything that's FF on ps2, ds, pc and don't regret it)

Bad because it is a Final Fantasy game and all the characters are of ambiguous gender

Hehe imo the final fantasy series is the best rpg series out there. Seems always to be ahead of the curve. Who cares if their guys looks like girls (and a few girls could pass as guys), and that their females have ... attributes that would seriously damage the back of a real female? The game play, inventiveness, and immersion is always the top of the line.

hardly,
From what I've seen there is little or no character creation,
There is no character progression beyond numbers slowly ticking up and deciding which over-sized sword you're going to use,
The combat is randomly occuring, unexplained and tedious in it's lacklustre turn-based system,
And the immersion into the linear plot barely goes past deciding which of your cliched JRPG characters is on potion duty.
But hey, that's just what I've seen. .
Maybe you're into that kinda thing

Well apparently we are playing two different games. Sure, the originals are now outdated, but at their time they were the top of the line. Also, FF was one of the first times that a character died, and I literally cried. No other game has brought me that deep into the story line. I've played every one of them (except the newest XII and XIII) and if I could afford those I would play those all the way through also. Sure some disapointed, but only 1 or 2. Which is not bad at all for how many final fantasy titles there actually are. (I am also including the tactics series, but not any of the chocobo spinoffs).
Final fantasy has always been ahead of the curve. With fighting systems, graphics, ect. Of course people's taste change, and you are welcome to your opinon. I have yet to find ANY other series that comes close (Yes I've played 100's of rpg games including many of the might and magic series). Yet final fantasy is the only one that I will never NOT buy if I have the money. (Homm is another, but that is another story ).
