Moon Weeks (ideas for HOMM V and for HOMM VI)

I'd like to present my ideas about a minor thing, the Moon Weeks. Here, I'll write suggetions for HOMM V and then some parts to HOMM IV.

First of all, I got some ideas for the Weeks of Nothing. Thease week's effects are just minor things, not like the others. All in all, I wrote some effects to them as well:

HOMM V:

Week of Toad: Increases ships movement on see by 10%.
Week of Hen: Increases population of level 1 creatures by +5.
Week of Firefly: Grants +2 Spellpower for Light Magic spells.
Week of Dragonfly: ?
Week of Fox: The hero recives on spell for free till the end of the week (level 1 or level 2 or level 3 spell)
Week of Rat: Every creature will recive 10% magical protection
Week of Rabbit: Decreases moreal of creatures by -1.
Week of Squriell: ?
Week of Caterpillar: Decreases wood production by 50%.
Week of Hamster: Increases population of level 1, 2 and 3 creatures by 10%.
Week of Pigeon: Increases speed of flyer units by +1.
Week of Worry: Increases the cost of every spell by 20%.
Week of Bee: Grats +1 random resource during the week after every day.
Week of Poppy: Cancels every movement penalty one grassy terrain.
Week of Swan: ?
Week of Butterfly: Increases Sylvan creatures morale by +1.
Week of Antelope: Increases movement speed on the map by 20%.
Week of Beggars: Reduces the town incomes by 15%.
Week of Raven: Dark Magic spells will be more effective.
Week of Beaver: Decreases wood production by 100%.
Week of Flamingo: ?
Week of Tortoise: Increases defence of all creatures by +1.
Week of Lynx: Increases heros sight radius by +1.
Week of Penguin: Increases movement speed on icy terrain by 10%.
Week of Falcon: Increases ranged attack of shooters by 10%.
Week of Hedgehog: Decreases movement speed on the map by 10%.
Week of Sparrow: Increases speed of small creatures by +1.
Week of Lion: Increases morale of creatures by +2.
Week of Rooster: Increases Peasant population by 50%.
Week of Viper: During battles, poisoned creatures cannot be healed.
Week of Sheep: ?
Week of Deer: Increases the amount of experience points by 10%.
Week of Owl: Increases speed of creatures by 1 during battles in the underground.
Week of Wyrm: ?
Week of Tiger: Increases attack of creatures by +1.

Possible new features for HOMM VI:

Here, I'd like to present my ideas in short sentences and then, I'll show you what I mean:

1. There won't be just "Week of..." but "Month of..." something.

2. Each month has four weeks and each week got a "Week of..." something. Each month has four "Week of..." something: Two, which have positive and two, which have negative effects.

3. The "Weeks of..." and the "Month of..." something will come randomly!

4. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: If connected "Week of..." and "Month of..." start in the same time, the effect of that Moon Week will be more effective!

5. Hero's skill will include "Astronomy" and "Prediction".

How it could work:

The idea comes from the Chinese Zodiacs:

Month of the Rat: Week of Discipline (Negotes every spell, that has an effect to mind. (every dark magic spell)) Week of Intelligence (Increases the maximum amount of mana by +50% during battles. (+70%)), Week of Over Ambition (No pruduction from gold, sulfur, gem, crystal and mercury mines. (no production overall), Week of Intolerance(Decreases creatures initiative by 10%. (20%))

Month of the Ox: Week of Hardworking (Doubles resource income from mines. (triples)), Week of Tenacity (Increases creatures Hit Points by 10%. (20%)), Week of Rigidity (Reduces experience points gained after a battle by 20%. (40%)), Week of Narrow-Mindedness (The hero can use spells just from two magic types during battles. (from one magic type))

Month of the Tiger: Week of Impulsivness (Experience gained after battles increase by 20%. (40%)), Week of Sincerity (Gives informations about enemy heroes for free. (and about town with creatures)), Week of Recklessness (Decreases creature maximum and damage by 2. (4)), Week of Irascibleness (The friendly creature has 30% chance to hit a friendly stack during battles. (40%)).

Month of the Rabbit: Week of Cautiosness (Increases hero's sight radius by +2. (+4)), Week of Tenderness (Every creature recives 40% magical protection. (50%)), Week of Laziness (Decreases creatures' speed by 1. (2)), Week of Moodiness (Decreases morale of creatures by 2. (3))

Month of the Dragon: Week of Strenght (Increases creatures' attack by 3 during combats. (by 5)), Week of Vigorousness (Increases creatures' damage dealt from enemy units by +20%. (by 30%)), Week of Tyrannousness (There is 30% chance that the friendly stack will pass the whole turn during combats. (40% chance)), Week of Violence (There is 40% chance that the creature will miss the target during an attack. (50% chance))

Month of the Snake: Week of Mysticism (Reduces spells' cost by 2 mana. (4 mana), Week of Sensuality (Decreases enemy destructive spells' damage by 20%. (40%)), Week of Possessiveness (Decreases gold income from towns and mines by 40%. (60%)), Week of Distrust (Every creature on the map will challenge the hero's army for a fight, except creatures, that belong to the hero's town. (EVERY creature))

Month of the Horse: Week of Changeability (Creatures' ability will trigger more often, 10% will be added to it. (20%)), Week of Agility (Increases hero's movement speed by 50%. (70%)), Week of Anxiety (Decreases creatures' attack by 2. (4)), Week of Gullibility (Reduces dwellings' population on the map by 50%. (100%))

Month of the Goat: Week of Gentleness (Increases luck of all creatures by 2. (3)), Week of Peace (The heroes are not allowed to use any descructive spells during combats. (and no summoning spells)), Week of Complaint (Creature population is reduced to 2/3. (to 1/3)), Week of Pessimism (Reduces the maximum damage of creatures by the half of the difference between minimum and maximum damage. (till the damage is equal with the minimum damage) Example: 10-20 --> 10-15-->10-10)

Month of the Monkey: Week of Motivation (Increases creatures' speed by 1. (2)), Week of Invention (Reduces town building costs by 25%. (40%)), Week of Vainness (Redices experience points gained after battles by 50%. (100%)), Week of Selfishness (Reduces the mana of heroes and spellcasters by 30%. (50%))

Month of the Rooster: Week of Neatness (Grants 50% more movement points for hero in the underground. (70%)), Week of Decissions (Decreases upgraded units' cost by 20%. (30%)), Week of Assertiveness (Negotes magical attack of spellcasters. (and ranged attack of shooters)), Week of Opiniatrety (Decreases hero's movement points by 10% after visiting every building on the map. (15%))

Month of the Dog: Week of Loyality (Increases creatures' join chance by 20%. (40%)), Week of Morality (Increases creatures' morale by 2. (4)), Week of Cynicism (Decreases the effect of light based spells by 30%. (50%)), Week of Judgements (Buildings and treasure chests will offer just one options from the hero can "choose". (XP, gold or offered stats halved))

Month of the Pig: Week of Trust (Creatures will be more likely not to fight with the hero's army (+20%). (40%)), Week of Patience (Increases mana regeneration by 20%. (40%)), Week of Overreaction (There is a chance that a creature will be affected by Frenzy spontanously during a battle (20%). (30%)), Week of Fatality (Decreases creatures' number in hero's army by 15%. (15%))

NOTE: The first bracket describes the effect, what effect that week has. The second bracket, which includes mostly a number or one word, describes that effect, if the week is during "his" month. (See at 4.)

Explanation of 4.: (Example) If the month is "Month of the Dragon" and the week is "Week of Strenght", the week's effect will be more powerful. The same is valid for negative effects, too!

I can write effects to every single week, if it's necessary...! Some of them are ready, the other will come soon!

Sounds just awesome! I really like the idea of having "months of..." and even more the idea to connect between them and the weeks. These are very good ideas, Golemcrafter. I'm impressed!

My comments are about the amount of animals, while this is a magical world.
My suggestion is adding special weeks for the Gods. Those weeks would have a several bonuses. I'll give the example using what we have, Ashan:

Week of Elrath:
1. Light Spells work with +1 mastery level
2. All Haven troops get +1 morale and luck
3. Daylight lasts longer - movement of all heroes on the adventure map is increased by 20%

Week of Urgash:
1. Total Chaos - Damage of all the creatures is increased by 50%
2. All Inferno troops get +1 morale and luck
3. Penalty of 10% initiative to all the order factions

Week of Akrath:
1. All the fire spells deal double damage
2. All Fortress troops get +1 morale and luck
3. Water spells deal half damage and freezing effects are canceled

Week of Father Sky / Mother Earth:
1. All the War Cries are 30% more effective
2. All Stronghold troops get +1 morale and luck
3. All the spells are weakened by 1 mastery level

Week of Malassa:
1. Dark Spells work with +1 mastery
2. All Dungeon troops get +1 morale and luck
3. Night comes earlier - movement of all heroes on the adventure map is descreased by 20%

Week of Shalass:
1. Water spells deal double damage.
2. All ships movement is doubled.
3. Army doesn't get hurt if it passes through a whirlpool.

Week of Sar-Elam:
1. All the spells work with +4 spell power.
2. All Academy troops get +1 morale and luck
3. The quantity of summoned creatures on battle is increased by 50%.

Week of Sylanna:
1. All the earth spells deal double damage
2. All Sylvan troops get +1 morale and luck
3. Lightning spells deal half damage and stunning effects are canceled

Idea: What if it is different based on your race?  Eg, Haven has 12 months which are all based on different Normal Animals, Sylvan based on different Mystical Creatures, Dungeon simmilar to Sylvan, but darker:  Eg,

Pixie, Werewolf, Unicorn, Dragon, Wyrm
Faerie, Minotaur, Nightmare, Hydra, Troglodyte

Academy can be based on Crystals or Lunar Cycles, Necro should be based on something simmilar to Academy.

I think more like
Haven is based on human charastaristics (honor, Knowledge, charisma, vileness, anger)
Syvlan is based on plants and trees ( Oak , Willow, Poppy)
Dwarves have weeks based on weapons ( axe, Polearm, Sword)
Dungeon has weeks based on Daytime and Nighttime( Dusk , Dawn , Morning, Evening , Nighttime, Midnight, Lunar Eclipse etc)
Necropolis has them based ont he cycles of life (such as birth, Marriage, Old age, and death)
Strongholds would be based on ferocious animals.(Dragon , Cyclops, Wolf Negative weeks would be like Otter, Rat, and chicken)
Inferno would be based on sins and virtue ( Greed , Corruption , Lust, hatred , Charity , Helpfulness , Tolerance)
Acedemy would have it based on Magic (Earth , Fire , Arcane , Light, dark etc)

I had some other ideas, too like choosing other features for months like "Month of Might, Magic, Elements, Population, Battles,..." but if we do so, we have to collect a lot of them to get a balanced feature, since in HOMM V, there are almost 40 different weeks... (Creature weeks may not count). In fact, there has to be many moon months!

I think I'll write meanings for the different week descriptions of mine, since thoose are the main point of my idea! (NOTE: The animal names MAY change!)

@ Daystar and Roy-algriffin: Your ideas sound good! I'll try to make something for them! Thanks!

Yesterday, I thought quite much, how this could work...

My basic idea was that we use the twelwe monts and seperate its weeks between the towns -this time- in HOMM V (Maybe for HOMM VI as well depending how many towns there will be). Ee.: We have twelve months, than we have fourty-eight weeks and eight fractions. 48 / 8 = 6 so every fraction has six own weeks. Then we can combie the "Week of Life" and the "Week of Conjunction" from HOMM V with my idea: "Week of Life" would be then, if a week is during that month, to which it is connected. Effect of weeks will be more effective. The "Week of Conjunction" is almost the same, but if you are with the right town during a week and that week is connected with the right month, you recive an ultimate week effect...

The only problem with this, that it is extremely difficult to find week names, that should pass to month names and even to the fractions... I gave it a try, but it seems more difficult than a maths exercise.
