Bah, you don't play Gta because it's violent, you play it because it's good. The only reason that media is trying to crush the game is because of its popularity.
I watched some kind of discussion on tv where they were discussing violent game. And guess what, they didn't even mention games like Postal, they only mentioned popular ones, especially Half-life 2. Some people doesn't seem to get that you don't play Half-Life 2 because it's violent, you play it because it's one of the best games ever.

I prefer CS over Half-Life GTA is not violent,it is just like a movie:reunion,conflict,happy end.What kind of games would you even consider violent? None for me.

I liked the very first game because of the inane destruction you could cause, but I got tired of the series. I guess glamorizing the life of a criminal just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Thompsonphilia is common nowdays, it makes you think that all games are ultra violent sexist **** and they should be banned.

I've seen this before back in the early 90's with a game called Mortal Kombat. It's "intense fighting" and "bloody battles" got the media all riled up and parents worrying if their children were headed for a life of crime and drugs because of the "violence" displayed in this game.
The fact of the matter is game companies like Midway and Rockstar almost rely on negative media attention to help promote their games. It almost adds to the cool factor of these games when the media gives it attention which leads to parental disapproval.

I don't mind people here not liking Gta4 because this is basically a strategy forum. I mean look at the replies Starcraft 2 got!
I, for one, love this game and the whole sandbox game idea.

by better you mean of coure get rated better or sell better right because i know plenty of people who think sc2 won't be as good as gta 4.
