No the history states that they were hidden in mountain Stronholds.
And i know Blizzard orginally ripped off Warhammer because Warcraft was meant to be Warhammer games - Blizzard wanted to buy Warhammer but the guys who owned it didnt like the idea.
But today Warcraft has become its own huge universe and doesnt copy from Warhammer anymore - now Warhammer has begun to copy Blizzard (look at Warhammer Online...).
The same story goes with Starcraft.
And today Blizzard can laugh at Warhammer because they are much more successful with all there games.
Humans = Humans
Night Elfs = Dark Elfs
Orcs = Orcs
Undead = ??? "Scourge" came first or so have i heard.
Protoss = Eldar (Eldar means "fires" in swedish btw, "en eld, flera eldar").
Small parts of the Zerg = Those weird stuff.
Terran = Space Marines lol.

In fact they continually entered and vanished from the world. Tieru was the last one on Ashan (though indeed the others may return).
Though maybe I'm taking the phrase "vanished from the world" too literally...
Man, why do they keep this damned storyline so vague? It's not like they've actually resolved many of the historical cliffhangers in the timeline.

perhaps it's a bit offtopic, but i hope ubisoft will publish iin the near future a few spin-offs. i always wanted to see a might&magic soccer game.

I agree with the idea that another company will buy the HoMM series, but maybe not in Heroes 6 yet, maybe 7?

Okey this is a speculation. What if the next HoMM game will be a MMO?
MMOs are the future of games and i would not be suprised if HoMM became one.

I don't mind if they make a MMO set in Erathia* or Ashan but it should never in a thousand years be called Heroes

Not quite sure how coming out with a MMORPG is a ripping off another company. By that logic, Blizzard ripped off 3DO.

Can't argue that. People love paying $10/month for loot and there apparently isn't a whole lot to do in South Korea.
And let me fill in some blanks for you.
The Night Elves are more akin to Warhammer's Wood Elves if anything.
Warhammer has the Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings for its undead armies.
The Zerg are a rip off of the Tyrannids who are a rip of the Bugs from Starship Troopers.

Finally, the Terrans aren't anything like the Space Marines. The Terrans are an amalgamation of just about every single space-faring human civilization to ever grace science fiction.
As to Heroes 6, I will never understand the fascination with Nagas. Apparently I'm missing the attraction of snake people. As to the cast, I will be thrilled if they kill every last person off and start over. No more idiot queens or their murdering lovers, or haiku-spoutin' dingleberries. The community does not need another Isabel. And don't get me started of Freida's awesome "Lazlo" shout. The emotion in her voice almost brought me to tears.

Well all of them ripped off Gary Gygax of D&D fame (who ripped off mythology and foke lore, who ripped off..well you get the idea). Heck, if not for D&D we might not have any of the aforementioned games.
People get inspired by the things they see. Using this inspiration isn't bad. They are not 'ripping' somebody off as much as building on something. However, there is a difference between being inspired by and plagerism. For instance Wood Elves. How many games/books or such use them exactly like the ones before/other of their kind does?
If ubi/nival makes the mistake of not using Nagas in the next instalment, they may have a riot on their hands. WAY too many of the fans are frothing at the mouth over them as is. Since I seriously doubt they want to shoot themselves in the foot, I expect the Nagas as at LEAST neutral creatures. Minimum.
However, there are a lot of amphibious creatures they could use, a complete faction would not be out of the question. Not to mention that their racial special could be ice based and a good compliment/opposit of the dwarves.

Lol Blizzard ripped off 3DO? Thats so not true, Blizzard even said that the creator of D&D inspired them after he died.
$10/month is nothing and i bet you have not even tested the game.
Erm... so just because they are elves they need to be ripped of Warhammer Wood Elves? Just because they have druids and rangers like almost all fantasy elves?
Know your lore - the Scourge (undead) doesnt have Vampires or "Tomb Kings". In fact, there are no silly Vampires in Warcraft lol.
Yes, i have said in another thread that Zerg were ripped off Tyranids. There is a reason for this however.
Starcraft 1 was orginally meant to be a Warhammer game.
But now they are rather diffrent.
Terrans Marines are very similar to space marines. They look VERY similar.
Terran Marine

Space Marine
They look similar and Terran are inspired by them.
