There has been a lot discussion about the Free Cities.
What race do you think should be in the Free Cities?

Responses:
Dragons & Dragonknights

The Citadel- my take on the Free Cities

View the Citadel, my take on the Free Cities of the East in my H6 thread. They combine several of the ideas presented above- a Sylath-worshipping, mercantile Middle-Eastern flavored human culture, including Rogues and Nomads in their army of mercenaries (as well as Hipogriffs, War Elephants and the mighty Azure Dragons).

A port town, filled with varius humanoid creatures and humans that does not follow the Haven factions belifes.

I would like to se:
*Pirate
*tamed Spiders
*Heretic Undead(More some kind of healer caster, but they know necromancery)
*Heretic Demons
*Ifrit(read 1001 nigths to understand why)
*Genetic Monster
*Fabled Warmachines(Antic style Mecha robot, similar to someting from an Anime like Gundam or Code Geass. But different design, maybe in iron or ore )

The term heretic here is for creatures that has left its belif earlyer, like a Undead saying: Screw that, but it cannot be accepted by the Wizards so the Free city is next

What I hate about the free cities is this:

In DM it was just a city with humans, HUMANS! It should not be a part of the HoMM univers as a faction, but just plain human town.

To me it is a dead subject.

Because it would make no sense to make it a H3 town with 100.000 diffrent races and monsters in one town.
Atleast not in Ashan.

However it sucks you cant edit polls.

I would like to add:

* Far East
* Haven 2.0

and remove Halfings lol.

I'm a bit at a loss with what to answer here, really. I wanted a Free cities to be a nomadic / barbaric faction, but that place is now taken by the Orcs, so that won't work anymore. Another Human faction would be rather pointless imo.  Dragon Knights is just a concept I never got. Can anybody explain me what this faction would actually be and stand for? Halflings ... doesn't fit the bill. Pirates - please, no, too narrow. Bandits ... too close to Orcs, really.

I don't really think I see a need for a Free Cities faction anymore.

I believe their heroes will be more mercentile then the others (traders, diplomats, etc).  Perhaps one of their racial specials will cut down on penalties for having creatures from different factions together.  Sadly I think they will be (for the most part) humans in their army.  People who will do anything for money.

From what I understand the Dragon Knights were some Knights who obeyed Elrath and the fought in his name. What I would believe is they did what the crusaders did in the middleages for the pope, where they brought out the message of Catholic believes.

So the Dragon Knights should be some narrow minded knights fighting for their own believe trying to turn the world to their vision. The faction would be a lot of different believes, knights, warriors, priests, some kind of dragon image.

Dragonknights were guardians of Ashan and elite servants of Asha. They hided into mountain strongholds later and noone has seen them since that.
