The most important feature for a PLAYER is to PLAY as many formats as possible.

I disagree. The most important feature is being able to play audio and video formats regardless of how many formats it can play.
I am confused. How come and this is a disagreement? Or is it the "audio" and "video" words that are missing (yet implied) in the first statement? lol

Well, if I was to make my own media player, then it would be to play anything. The goal of a media player isn't to play as many formats as possible, but to at least play something. In my opinion anyway. It makes sense to me, probably not to anyone else though.

You do realize that such a goal is impossible, right?

*sigh* I think you know what I meant. If it was able to play one format then it has achieved the purpose for what a media player was made for.

Btw, TheDeath, can you cut that "this is subjective, that is subjective" stuff out? I see that you mention that a lot in other threads and it just gets annoying after a while. After all, this is a thread about computers so who really cares whether something is subjective or not? It doesn't matter so why do it?

It wasn't me who started that, it was Ash when I talked about the features I complain in Media Player, and I just used the same arguments to her. That's what I do mostly -- i try to use people's arguments against them

Who cares if it plays all formats if you can't, for example, watch it well? Since it lacks some features (e.g: stretching) maybe it is kinda worthless to watch it without (this was ONLY an example).

I would suggest that a moderator would merge the last pages of this topic into the Software Discussion thread.
