Hm, I thought I had answered the question .. I know I was about to..

I use reaper.. I am not sure about other copies but for some reason mine has been telling me to register for maybe over a year. I figured it would have expired in 30 days, but it never did.. It's not hard waiting 8 seconds to say "register later" lol

Thank you. Hopefully others will think the same. And this song was made using Fruity Loops (now known as FL Studio) hehehe. It's not as bad a program as some may think. hehe

EDIT:

Just listening to your song now, Kesnar. Pretty good. Definitely something different. Nice one.

That's the one i chosed ;p A great entry from kesnar too. Very good. More of this, and my happy-face stays for ever hehe..

I love to hear homemade electronic music..
It is a passion of fantastic sounds no matter how it sounds, it's just great!..

-----

That's it, i have been working on this track for two month's now, and i think it's done. It lasts for 6:07 minutes, and it is my first trance track. I created the background beat in fruity loops, togehter with the difrent instruments! It did a drive in on AVS and a little Cool Edit once again to give it the right speed and the best way out of the speakers (I'm not perfect in my english as you all can hear/see)
But anyway, i whant you to hear it, and give a comment on it. Cuz i think it's the best i've ever made... Run for it..

Are there any music creation softwares that don't cost like 500 dollars?

I have Virtual DJ and Ableton Live but they are not for creating music really, rather for doing DJ sets.

"music creation software" is very vague term.
Do you mean something that can arrange notes and compose music? Or do you mean the instruments themselves?

The former, you can find even for free, for example try LMMS. With such "composing" software (actually it's called a DAW - Digital Audio Workstation), you can host instruments (which are plugins actually -- obviously by instrument I mean anything that can generate sound), and send commands to them (i.e what notes to play, which is called MIDI notes for example in the piano roll, how the volume should change over time, or how other parameters to change, etc... this is called 'automation').

The plugins... now that's a different thing altogether because there's so many of them I can't really recommend a "standard set". There are free of them, of course.

For example, there are plugins who simply playback a wave file, or more complicated sample players (like Native Instruments Kontakt -- kinda expensive though, and I don't like Native Instruments ), or the SFZ soundfont player, which is free and excellent for playing soundfonts (a 'soundfont' is a file with .sf2 extension that has multiple waves packed inside for each note, or velocity, depending on the soundfont -- velocity means volume).

These are sample players. There are also plugin 'effects', that operate on a sound generated and modify it.

There are, of course, also synthesizers, which don't playback samples. In my opinion samples sound too static, and some synthesizers also, because they aren't dynamic or change over time, or are always the same. Subtle variations can be inserted with effects, by modulating their parameters (with aforementioned 'automation') so their effects are subtle but change over time making it more dynamic.

Some plugins cost as much as $2000.

Some sample libraries cost even more than that. Some, like the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, come with 200+ GB of sounds and cost very much (personally I think they're too bloated, so I wouldn't get them even illegally, at all...).

Then there's synthesizers like Camel Audio Alchemy which are excellent but cost many $$$$.

But there's also free stuff. And yes, even free amp simulators (guitar amp I mean), if you are into let's say Metal or Rock. Some free plugins are EXCELLENT, like bootsy's epicVerb (reverb effect); I think it beats hands down MANY commercial reverbs out there (with a few exceptions like the expensive 2C-Audio Aether, but that's cause it's very customizable and randomizer reverb and... really expensive around $250). One rule of thumb to learn is that price isn't necessarily directly tied to plugin quality. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better.

If you are really into it, there's really no "that's it, I've got everything" as you'll notice sooner or later that is an impossible dream

By the way, Reaper is cheap (in price), and good too.

I don't know of any free programs to do that but I would recommend buying the program only because it's usually worth it.

BTW, just for the hell of it, I'm gonna post a link to my new song lol: Velocity. This should be good for you, Celfious, since it's a streamed song. =)

I do not whant this thread anymore! It's too slow! And too small..

From now on, this is electronic music talk thread! Which i will go on with now!

I stood almost at the front center of Scene 1..
Me and some friends jumped our brains out.. Ad because of what?
TIESTO LIVE!! I can't tell how freaking awesome he was! Way better than his performance in Copenhagen!..
He was ment to play 1 and a half hour, but played for 2 hours..
He was surprised to see so many people in denmark at one place....
Everything was top class, exept his fireworks!

--- btw, william would have won the first round.
