How long did the campaigns take you?

H4 has got to have one of the longest single player games of any game I've played. Since I got H4 complete, with the two expansion, the game seems even longer than usual.

The H4 original campaigns took me about 15 days to finish, most of them played on Advanced. Currently, I've spent a week on the Gathering Storm campaigns, and have gotten to the 2nd map of the Alita campaign. I'm so close to being able to play the finale campaign, but somehow I reached the tired burn-out point a little too early. As for WoW campaigns, I think I'll save that for much later...

So how long did it take you to complete the campaigns?

(Good thing there's quick combat, or otherwise, it would take even longer! Unfortunately, the computer sucks at using magic in auto/quick combat)

Usually 3-4 months is typical.

I've played through GS so far, and one campaign on WoW.

I don't like challenge so I play novice all the time, this helps to cut down the play time. I can complete one scenario in around 60 minutes usually, and if I didn't insist on optimizing my heroes I can be even quicker. But of course, in case the map is big (like those in Tawni's campaign), it could take MUCH longer.

Btw, I have completed all GS campaigns in six days, I think.

In H4, I played most campaigns in champ so far (exception being Might and Chaos). So i figured out no way to kill Screaming Tom, i'm still working on the first mission of chaos. So far 16 days total. Death campaign alone took 6 days though, first mission is a b*tch.
In GS 12 days. Had to cheat on Alita it was impossible even on expert (2nd mission particularly).
I could finish WoW entirely on champ however it took a month.
Can anyone teach me how to beat Alita's 2nd mission on champion?

Could you tell me how did you manage first map with Baron Von Tarkin (WoW death campaign) on champ level? I couldn't manage it even on expert, but playing on advanced is too easy.

It's not hard, ut it's annoying, boring and luck dependant. For example, the first Death town near you MUST contain cerberi instead of ghosts and the gold mine near your start would better be might (nomads + berserkers). Don't buy anything at first, just quickly reach 3k gold and 20 ore (You may use either of your heroes alone to get resources and retreat. You'll reach 3k quick this way). Than you may get a Dark Champion in the quest hut above the first neutral death town. Buy the Dark Champion, get all your starting troops (from the first castle) and take it. You will probably lose the lvl 1'ns but the DC has regeneration and won't die easily. You'll be awarded 2 vampires and 8 ghosts. Attack the gold mine guard (easy if it's nomad + berserkers), just buy the skeletons from the castle (if you can afford) and split them, use them as retaliation meat shields. When you get the gold mine, be quick to get enough resources to get a mansion. Trade your resources if necessary (Gem is completely unneeded). When you get a mansion it's easy. Take both cemeteries and flag the resource mines (don't if you lose ANY vamp. or your DC). Your enemy should have the neutral order castle by now. Take it as it greatly increases your income (City Hall + Treasury). By the end of month 1 i was the strongest in Thieves Guild and i had about 25k gold. In month 2 day 2 all the enemies started to show up. They're scouting parties but most have lvl 6-11 heroes. Kill them all if you can (probably you can't as they escape by charm/diplomacy). When real heroes show up, it becomes complicated. Let them take the Order town and attack them there (they can't surrender/retreat there). If you will give too many losses just let them take the death/order town but NEVER the one with the mansion. After you defeat wave 1 they will be severely weekened (I had the DC, 11 vamps, 36 ghosts and 300~ imps/skeletons, Lvl 9 Tarkin Lvl 7 the other one.). The 2nd wave is a bit more challenging, as they will all attack different castles from different directions. You may lose vamps here, as blue once attacked me with 26 nagas (I had 14 vampires back then), but careful not the DC. As you can see the DC can cast terror thrice, VERY useful against nagas/genies (and also mages if theres more than 30). If you survive wave 2, just eliminate them all counter clockwise and flag the burrows. If you can't (which is more possible) have them capture all your towns, and go west to the ferry. It will carry you right unto red's castle (he probably attacked you from there too). I was lucky that i eliminated red after the siege. Blue's caste is north, take it with all you've got (it will have 20+ nagas, but i had 18 vamps and a dark champion). Clear all castles clockwise (Orange and Green are weak), and by the time i captured my original, only blue was alive with 2 nagas. He got eliminated when he attacked one of my castes. Now the hard part starts. Both my heroes were 15 (the max) at the time. I never upgraded Tarkin's nobility, and you better don't too. Focus on Combat and Order Magic. So, Tarkin had Expert Death, Advanced Order, Expert Combat w/ advanced melee, advanced archery and basic MR. Universities, Libraries and Veterans Guild's come ALL very handy here. The Death Knight had Master Combat, GM Melee, Master Archery and advanced MR (also some scouting). The borrows have about 30-40 ghosts each, but nothing if you have leveled your combat (The last borrow was tricky though, i lost the Death Knight). This may take some long time as Tarkin Should recharge mana etc. My score: Month 5,Both heroes lvl 15.
If you want to see something REALLY hard on champion, try A Pirate's Daughter (I couldn't beat it), A Matter of Life and Death or Half-Dead. If you want to see something impossible, try Glory of Days Past and A Matter of Life and Death (2nd mission).

I have played Half-Dead on champ till map 3 I think and it was not so difficult, except beating the cyclops on map 1. Maybe I've got luck.
I've tryed Glory of Days Past and it was very very hard on expert difficulty.

I've got one more answer for Baron Von Tarkin(thanks for the link, Invictus):
When I entered 5th barrow, the map ended, so I couldn't take fifth artifact. Now I know I should clear all the barrows and change artifacts before I kill all the enemies. Is it a must, when playing on champion?

I could finish Glory of Days past on expert. The other missions are really easy for expert. The first mission took 8 months however. Screaming Tom SUCKS and at the end i had a fight of 120 ogre mages some 300 harpsie around 1k berserkes 700 centaurs etc. I was lucky it was a siege though, as when Waerjak dies you don't lose. I finished half dead on champion. Last mission is hard as hell though (And the cyclopes).

The H3 campaigns took about a week or two to do them all, I found them rather easy, some areas you had to micro a little but not too bad.

H4 I loved the campaigns, except once your hero got strong enough he really didn't need to have armies (at least I didn't use them), all and all WoW took me about a week of strong play, and GS took about two weeks of strong play, the standard campaigns took about a week too. So say a month to be safe.

H5, haven't played that many of them...find them odd.
