HoMM VI Name Change
If you guys have been following the news on Age of Heroes or the Ubi forums, you may have seen the posts by the new Ubisoft community rep. In the course of this thread she has confirmed that HoMM VI will in fact be called Might and Magic: Heroes VI as apparently Might and Magic is now considered a "brand" rather than an independent game series.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on this matter? I, personally, am kinda disappointed; HoMM has been the name for the whole series, and the (slightly unreasonable ) sentimental part of me wishes they weren't changing it. It just feels wrong to me, and it doesn't roll off the tongue nearly as easily either.
On the other hand, it at least means that they are planning to develop the franchise even further, it seems, which isn't a bad thing. Your thoughts?

It takes twice the amount of time to pronounce! ARGH!
Ah well, it's just a name but this just feels... unnecessary.
HoMM = MM:H from now on?

Yeah apparently. I agree, it just sounds awkward. :\ Plus, I feel like it's burying I-IV even further and in my opinion they, especially II-III, were and remain the series at its best.
Oh well, I'm still gonna call it HoMMM VI anyways. Viva la Resistance! ^^

A very pointless and unnecessary move, but Ubisoft have a tendency to get stubborn like this. I think there's a poll on those forums where everyone voted against MM:H, and still Soft: Ubi are going ahead with it...
Well, I for one am not referring to the series by any title other than the one it started with.

It's stupid and pointless. The game's title is a proud tradition. Why screw with it, especially when people will still call it HoMM anyway? Dumb.
It doesn't really matter though. I'm not ready to write off the game, but beginning on an awkward note like this doesn't surprise me. The last two installments in the series were flawed and not nearly as good in quality as 2 and 3. This one will probably be the same.

I'm just worried this means they are incorporating MM aspects to HOMM VI like making it "more tactical" and more "rpgistic" (in first person mode) or anime. Just.. plz no.

The change is probably simply a marketing decision so that there's no perceived confused whether or not, say, DMoMM and HoMMV are related. Because putting the brand at the end of a title is just too confusing for the 'public'. It's annoying and will probably actually result in more confusion than it solves though.

I don't think it really makes a difference.
Before, the name was Heroes Of Might And Magic X, but we just said "Heroes X".
Now, the name is Might And Magic: Heroes X, and we STILL will just say "Heroes X".
So personally, I don't have any issues with this. They even keep the logo the same from what I understand (except 'of' will become 'and', and 'and' will dissapear), so it will still look like 'Heroes X' with something small on top.

I couldn't care less about the name change, from a listing and brand perspective it makes sense.
As said before it will still just be Heroes #.

I don't see what the big deal is.
While I prefer HoMM to MMH as a name, I would not change it if I had the coice, due to the reason that it is sure to have a positive effect on future M&M games' sales. I mean, we all know the games as Heroes [n] and now MMH VI will have a huge HEROES title on the box and it won't confuse people because it'll still have "Might and Magic" there.
All this is to make sure people know that a game set in the M&M universe is just that, because, frankly, as well as "HoMM" rolls off the tongue, MMH sounds way more logical, since it makes sure you know Heroes or any other game in the franchise is a M&M game.
What I'm saying is that now it could as well be "Heroes of Sword and Sourcery" for someone who doesn't know the brand, but seeing "Might and Magic:" in the title of a few games people are sure to make the connection.
Sorry for the long post, I just had to make sure my point is clear.

Little Reminder about the North American Confusion.
Here, in Canada and the United States, we have a television series called:Heroes. It is about real people with special powers and such.
So, for us, Heroes, reminds us about that very same television series and, not necessarily the PC game of Heroes of M&M.
Therefore, pointing out to the North American PC players that it is, in fact, a game, made in the cartoony universe of Might and Magic within the branded series of Heroes # is, very important.
The Canadian devs of Clash of Heroes did, directly or indirectly reminded the Marketing executives of such a pain in the butt of a problem.
I will, still, call it HoMM#, even though, it is called differently on the packaging box of the game.

Lol that show goes on in Sweden too.
And Desperate Housewives (I dont miss a single episode etc) and Oprah (overrated) etc xD
We're all living in America (I hate saying america, its so racist but the song goes like that)
The change is not a big deal. It loses tradition but we will soon move on and forget about this.

Awkward about the name change...They must have a marketing scheme or something for them to do that...or it could just be ubi, one of the two.
