This might be funny if it weren't so true.

Tax his land,
     Tax his bed,
     Tax the table
     At which he's fed.

     Tax his tractor,
     Tax his mule,
     Teach him taxes
     Are the rule.

     Tax his work,
     Tax his pay,
     He works for peanuts
     Anyway!
     Tax his cow,
     Tax his goat,
     Tax his pants,
     Tax his coat.
     Tax his ties,
     Tax his shirt,
     Tax his work,
     Tax his dirt.

     Tax his tobacco,
     Tax his drink,
     Tax him if he
     Tries to think.

     Tax his cigars,
     Tax his beers,
     If he cries
     Tax his tears.

     Tax his car,
     Tax his gas,
     Find other ways
     To tax his ass.

     Tax all he has
     Then let him know
     That you won't be done
     Till he has no dough.

     When he screams and hollers;
     Then tax him some more,
     Tax him till
     He's good and sore.
     Then tax his coffin,
     Tax his grave,
     Tax the sod in
     Which he's laid.

     Put these words
     Upon his tomb,
     Taxes drove me
     to my doom...'

     When he's gone,
     Do not relax,
     It’s time to apply
     The inheritance tax.
     Accounts Receivable Tax
     Building Permit Tax
     CDL license Tax
     Cigarette Tax
     Corporate Income Tax
     Dog License Tax
     Excise Taxes
     Federal Income Tax
     Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
     Fishing License Tax
     Food License Tax
     Fuel Permit Tax
Gasoline Tax (currently 44.75 cents per gallon)
     Gross Receipts Tax
     Hunting License Tax
     Inheritance Tax
     Inventory Tax
IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax)
     Liquor Tax
     Luxury Taxes
     Marriage License Tax
     Medicare Tax
     Personal Property Tax
     Property Tax
     Real Estate Tax
     Service Charge T ax
     Social Security Tax
     Road Usage Tax
     Sales Tax
     Recreational Vehicle Tax
     School Tax
     State Income Tax
     State Unemployment Tax (SUTA)
     Telephone Federal Excise Tax
Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax
Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes
     Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge=2 0Tax
Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax
     Telephone State and Local Tax
     Telephone Usage Charge Tax
     Utility Taxes
     Vehicle License Registration Tax
     Vehicle Sales Tax
     Watercraft Registration Tax
     Well Permit Tax
     Workers Compensation Tax

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.  We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?

Gasoline Tax (currently 44.75 cents per gallon)

This is the part I like the most

Have you ever looked up how the tax on fuel (gas) is in other countries?

Germany has around 75 cent (EURO cent!!) gas tax per LITER! (A liter costs around 1.30 Euro at the moment, which is around 1.87 Dollar!!)

0.75 Euro = 1,08 Dollar (currently 1 Euro ~ 1,44 Dollar)
3.79 liter = 1 gallon

3.79*0.75 = 2.84 Euro tax per gallon

2.84*1.44 = 4.08 Dollar per gallon!!

And you pay 44.75 cents? Lucky you

money has no value for the environment. We cant pay nature to revive from the damage we caused.

I dont think many businesses value the future status, nor do they care about all the world has given to us.

You are correct, unfortunantly the enviroment does not pay my mortgage.
At the end of the day it seems half your paycheck goes out for taxes, just can't get ahead and now we have to pay all that stimulus money back..It is never ending.

I feel that we need to start fresh with a new currency and I know that a major war would have to occur but at this point I see no way out.

What I am saying is we are taxed on everything..They are getting ready to tax soda, the gases that come off of cow poop, and just about anything that they can think of to tax. What they need to do is make Marijuana legal and then tax the **** out of it.

It will get to a point where more than half of what we make will be going toward taxes.

I think it was back in the early-mid 80s I did a VERY rough estimate that, when you add up all the taxes, you entered the 50% tax bracket with an income around 35K.

They spread the taxes around to lots of little things so it's not as noticeable.

People also seem to forget that there's really no such thing as corporate tax. Corporate tax is just another expense and it will be included in the price of the product just like labor, overhead and material are included in the price.

And don't forgot the tax on the truck that brings the products to you. When you buy something you pay the tax on the truck, tax on the fuel, tax on the tires, road use fees, etc.

As far as tax on pot, the so-called "sin taxes" are already a big tax revenue for some things.

@Fauch

It's not a birth tax, but some places in the US have what's called an impact fee for new housing. It's assumed that for every house that's built, the population is increasing so there's a big increase in expenses for things like schools, fire department, roads, etc.

I wish they had that where I live now. It's not that I like taxes, I just think some are more fair that others.

When I was building houses in California, one of the cities I built in had an impact fee of $30K per house.

Not sure what the impact tax is all about.

The impact fee is a one-time fee that's added to each house. If helps pay for the increase in city services like schools, etc. The fee isn't really on the house itself, it's on the lot. So when you buy a lot that's zoned for housing, the fee is included in the price. So you pay the fee even if you never actually build a house on the property.

That's pretty stupid, shouldn't there be a fee for children instead, because you know, that's what schools are for, not for a new house.

If this is conclusive to the rest of American system no wonder it's so messed up.

It's not like that everywhere. I've never verified it, but I heard that type of tax was declared illegal in the state where I am now. But I don't know if it was exactly the same type of thing.

Actually I prefer the impact fee over the alternative which is property tax. I think I pay about $2800 per year on my house which pays for LOCAL expenses. Most of that is used by the town where I live. A smaller amount is used by the county which is still local, but a larger area than the town itself. Approximately 2/3 of that goes to local schools.

If a town increases in population there will be additional expenses associated with it. With things like police and fire department, there will be small gradual increases as the population increases. But with something like a school, the population slowly increases and the school gets more and more crowded. It gets to the point when you need to build a new school, which is very expensive. That's what the impact fee is for. It helps for the big sudden costs associated with growth.

An example is what happened recently where I live. The population has slowly increased over the years and now they need to build a new high school (the most expensive kind of school). So my property tax just increased by $400 per year. (property tax is voted on, so this was approved by the voters)

One can argue that as the population increases, all the new people pay taxes so the total tax revenue should also increase. That's true. And it works pretty well for things like the police department where they just buy a new police car and hire a new cop.

But for really expensive things like a school, it takes many years to pay for it. So when the population increases they pay taxes, but they've only been paying them for a short time. On the other hand, long-term residents have been paying them for years and years. That's what the impact fee is for; it helps with those big expenses that happen all at once. The normal tax pays for the normal day-to-day expenses, and the impact fee helps pays for the big one-time costs.

That wasn't my point. My point was that a school is for children, so if you want your kid to go to school you'll have to pay the impact fee for your kid, not for the house! It's not your house that goes to school, it's your kid! So the impact fee should be used for "new" children, not new houses.

Fire department makes sense for it being a house/residence, after all, it's houses that catch fire, not people
