Dungeon Mod

I'm pretty sure this has been requested, and made, before, but I'm not sure if it's been made for TOTE yet.

What I'm looking for is a mod which flips about the tiers in the Dungeon town, basicly, and also alters the dungeon militairy post and other things accordingly.

What I personally would like to see;

1 - Shadowitches
2 - Furies
3 - Assassins
4 - Minotaurs
5 - Lizardriders
6 - Hydras
7 - Dragons

Alternatively, flip around 1 and 3, but I personally like this setup better.

Is there someone who roughly agrees with this idea and would be willing to sacrifice some time to make this mod ?

Anybody?

I don't require specific stat-changes; I can edit those myself... But I haven't got a clue what files to use and change, which I need, and how to make the mod file...

I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me out with this.

Yes, it can be done. It's not even hard, but its goin to drain some time.

Anyway are you going to change the stats as well (Since Shadowitches are level 1 from 6)?

If I have the time (lots to study) I'll post a guide about how changing levels is done, so you can do it yourself. If I don't find it today... waint until I manage.

Aye it can be done, I've had a simular mod for HoMM VI vanilla, and it worked quite fine.

Editing the creature statistics and values and spells they use isn't very difficult, I've done that before, so that's not something you would have to waste time on.

The more difficult part though is simply knowing what other files need to be altered; the town structure layout so the new tier creatures can be recruited at their respective tier level (or at the very least have the hissing caverns for example provide lizardriders instead of hydras), as well the external dwellings, primairily the dungeon militairy post. I recall with the last mod there was a little error where you ended up buying the level 3 shadowwitches from it.

Basicly, anything that makes the game fully recognize the new tier beasts as their new tier level.

That, and I don't know how to make a TOTE mod file.. Is it just a zip file, renamed to .pak ?

If anything, if you're going to put time into this, you might consider to use it as an example to make a modding tutorial on this subject? That way it would at least be less a waste of time I would hope

I already replied to a kind of this question on this thread:

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=30930

the method I talk allows to swap 2 units just by modifying 2 files.

may be helping.

Thanks but I don't think those are the problems I am dealing with. Swapping and editing creatures shouldn't be much of a hassle, but the problem I had before when I tried to redo Dungeon like this, was a total mess-up in terms of map creature dwellings and even neutral stacks being placed.

Like a random tier 3 unit on a map turning out to be a minotaur which was edited into Dungeon's tier 5 unit. Or a dungeon militairy post feauturing shadow witches even though they would be tier 1.

Or tier 3 assassins being recruited from the tier 1 dwelling on the map.

Those were the problems I faced before, hence I asked if someone could help with this. Just swapping around creatures doesn't ensure the game fully recognizes the change, at least in my experience.

The only person I can think of who might know that is Bigjocker, but I haven't seen him here in a long time and I know he lost most of his quicksilver stuff.

for my share, I have mummies+ncf, death knight+ncf instead of zombies, wights for necro...
manticore+ncf instead of witchs for dungeon
and wolf+ncf instead of stronghold girls (tier 4).

yes all dwellings and all neutral stacks perfectly work. in fact I edited corresponding dwelling files to
change their creatures and descriptions to make a perfect swapped creatures mod.

I even remake icons to get "faction" background for them

I'm pretty much a noob so I have no clue what 'ncf' means..

Mind, when I tried the creature changing mod I believe it was back in vanilla 1.5, not tote. I'm not sure if that causes the issue with the game recognizing the creatures at their tier though.

In either case, is there any chance you could be bothered to make this specific dungeon mod ? The technical side that is, I can change the statistics in the creature files myself.

NCF = New Creatures Framework

in NCF, all neutrals creatures have upgrades creatures.
