Icons are in H3sprite.lod, sounds are in Heroes3.snd I guess. Try something by using Resedit. And good luck.

What icons do you mean? Portraits?

Portraits are in these defs:

TWCRPORT.DEF
CPRSMALL.DEF

The sounds can be replaced by just adding the custom sounds to data folder, they must be in .82m format.
(I just replaced Halflings sounds for my mod. With Salamandre's help )

Is there a specific file size for the sound files, and how do I get a file into .m82 is that mac?  Do standard audio converters have that available also.

The same question goes for other resources such as pcx files, and portraits maximum file size.  I don't mean to go off topic, except I'm not allowed to make new threads.

The sounds have not a specified size. You can use a 3 minutes sound for a creature's move for example, the backside being that you will have to wait 3 minutes after it moves, so the .82 is going till the end.

For example I changed all the Loop[...] sounds for map objects and some are now 3 minutes instead of 20 seconds original ones. However it does not have a backside because the music is heard when the hero is passing by and does not stops the game, as an in-battle sound will do. I would say never use a 5 seconds longer custom sound in battle because it will look weird.

Pcx and defs have a specified size and you must stick to it. Modifying the size to less would work, while increasing it will split the object.
