Wasn't really paying attention to vibrations, soz!

And I doubt anything could come in and steal your body, but it couldn't hurt to wear a cross or a pentacle or some other guarding symbol.

you didn't notice them? interesting. maybe it depends on the people. or you didn't go far enough?

I don't see how a symbol could have some power

however, here is a story about a symbol.
somewhere, there is a tree covered with clothes I think. inhabitant of the nearby village, when they are ill, they put some clothes on the tree and think it will heal them. and usually it works.

that being said, I don't think the tree has any power, but the people are so convinced they are going to heal that they inconsciently heal themselves.

I found this article very interesting. Notice it does not try to conclude anything, but shows that "recent" experiments have shown interesting effects, in that the out of body experience may be a result of the brain.

Quote:
Out of the body
Both doctors and patients were given a
huge surprise, since a 43 --
year-old woman was hospitalized for treatment
for epilepsy. She had been implanted
almost 100 electrodes in the brain
and through them hoping that the doctors
could locate the area from which her
seizures originated.
The woman had been drugged when they
delicate electrodes were put in place but
now she was fully conscious and followed
interested in medical work. They
had just led a weak current through
one of the electrodes, when the woman suddenly
exclaimed that it was as if her body
sank deeper into the hospital bed. Since the
surprised doctors tried to increase the amperage
a bit, saw the woman
how she became lighter and floated up
under the ceiling while she could look down on
his physical body in bed.
Doctor will kill the soul
Woman's experience closely matches
the strange phenomenon we call
out of body experiences. Although many
people have had similar spontaneous
sensations, researchers have so far
stood up from scratch in an attempt to give a
scientific explanation of the phenomenon.
It has fueled countless speculations
that we indeed have a soul
which lives its own independent life inside
our physical body.
But the doctor behind the surprising
experiments, Olaf Blanke of the University Hospital
in Geneva, really hope that
he can kill all the talk of the soul and
explain out of body experiences as a
kind of sensory short circuit in the brain.
Woman's experience was in fact occurred, since
researchers stimulated a brain center
called the "angular gyrus", which is involved
in coordinating our sensory input to a
overall picture in the mind.
The Center shall include that the sight of a
specific letter immediately leads us to
think of a certain sound, and is thus
crucial for our reading skills.
But it is also involved in body
perception of itself. It is angular
gyrus, which deals with the nerve signals
the brain continuously receives from the limbs
and Balance Center. The center makes us
In other words, constantly aware of
our present posture.
Patients with damage in this part of
brain may have the feeling that
their hand is not a part of themselves,
but float freely in the air. Therefore believe
investigators that the woman's sense of
float out of his own body - and many
other out of body experiences - can
any fault in this brain center function.
The Swiss doctors also asked the woman
to look at her leg, while the
sent current through the electrode. Total
on how the leg was over her,
she felt that it was either shorter or
actually kicked off in her head.
And if she kept her eyes during tests
closed, it felt as if her body
bent forward towards your feet.
Women's experience had most likely
nothing to do with her epilepsy to
do. These attacks occurred as a
Another area at the bottom of the brain's anterior
half, while the angular gyrus is located at the back
in the brain. And doctors exclude the possibility that she
may have cheated, so her experiences just
was free imagination. For although the nearly 100
electrodes were scattered throughout the brain,
and the woman had no clue about
which was activated, it was nevertheless
only electrodes at angular gyrus, which
had the bizarre effect. And every
time doctors put power to them, they gave
an out of body experience.
Difficult to explore the phenomenon
A classic out of body experience goods
Just a few seconds and you can not only
see his own body from a distance, but also
feel, hear and think in its new guise.
People are fully aware, while the phenomenon
is at, and often they wonder what
it is happening. The remarkable experiences
believed to be very general,
but many are not talking about them because they
maybe even think they were crazy.
However, there are some reports in
connection with the so-called near death experiences,
where such patients have felt that they
floated up from their dead body on the operating table.
The most common interpretations
of these and other out of body experiences
is that each human
Many have experienced the feeling of floating out of her own body. This phenomenon has often been
interpreted as evidence that man has a soul. But now Swiss doctors
also a scientific explanation. They have located where the brain experiences occur.
Short circuits in the brain sends us

consists of both body and soul, and that the former
unlike the latter
its own autonomous and eternal life.
Neurologist John Marshall from the Radcliffe
Infirmary in Oxford, believes that the new
results neither confirm or deny that
there is more between heaven and earth. But
He hopes that the new tests and the possible
logical explanation for this phenomenon may have
more people to jump out and tell
on their out of body experiences.
Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to
low controlled trials in this area.
Natural out of body experiences occurring
spontaneously and can not be provoked.
Researchers have therefore very little chance
to observe people experiencing
phenomenon. Neurological tests on
electrical brain stimulation is also
ethically questionable, and there are hardly many
who volunteer will have electrodes inserted in
brain just to support the research.
Olaf Blanke and his colleagues were therefore
extremely lucky because their electrodes
suddenly sent the 43-year-old woman
a flock out of the body.
Discovered by chance
A female epilepsy patients had been implanted a series of
electrodes in the brain, which should reveal where her many
seizures occurred. When doctors sent a weak current through
electrodes, triggered various reactions. The electrodes
around the center angular gyrus at the back of the brain appeared more than
surprising to induce out of body experiences.
A typical out of body experience
is short. But
you reach both hear and
think - and wonder
what is happening.

Feelings of being touched
Sensation of hearing something

I always love those stories of people who end up knowing things when they awaken again, things they couldn't have known, like things that were said in a room several corridors away and such stuff.

To me at least it adds some credibility to ideas about spirituality and energy. Which has nothing to do with religion, mind you. But I find it fascinating.

I get out of body experiences all of the time when I sleep. I can hear when people talk in nearby rooms and remember vaguely what they are talking about... often though I just feel like I'm having a hard time breathing and try to wake up. But I always see myself laying still when that happens.

that should prove that OBE aren't a result of just a process in the brain?

Well either that, or some kind of activation of empowered mechanisms that allows for one to gain insight upon otherwise unknown areas to our senses.

However, as long as we don't know the mechanisms behind, there can still be numerous reasons, ranging from guesses (i.e. truth value of the bible) to already observed, but not stored in consciously accessable memory (it was observed, but not stored, then retriggered in the process of OOBE experiment).

Finally, there lacks the most important part, not claim it has been done, but show it has been done.

well, when someone who was inconscious can repeat exactly a conversation which took place at the same time in a different place it's quite a proof no?

claiming to have heard it is a claim, but being able to repeat exactly what was said...

I think my point was, it's impossible to seperate if it is improved senses (all 5, and maybe some added) or really some kind of ghost thingy that flies around, because both would produce the same result.

I think I'd like some way to actually measure this 'ghost' to be able to differ.

Also, I don't believe in those stories, but I think that's irrelevant.

If you could detect the astral body and show a connection to its presence with the persons sudden information about various locations, then I'd find it likely enough to be considered true.
