unless you tell us what you mean about the rules and maps, no one will play with you! you must tell people what you want for them to decide if they agree or not.

You should probably add people's msn and talk to them. The bad scary people are the ones frequenting the boards for the most part

Yes, live of newbie is hard on TOH, not match people 
Do you registered on TOH ? Use MSN to contact people, no one use hamachi rooms to find opponents.
I play every day with no rules, but i don't play newbies anymore cos i like some resistance from my opponents
