Heroes 3 Replays

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well. Here's a bit of a story for those interested, if not skip down to the bottom bit.

I am a third year college student who plays water polo. I love the sport, but, it has its drawbacks. I recently suffered a shoulder injury and will require surgery in the next month or so. I have many books to read, but I am an avid video game player, and without my right hand available for play, I began to think about games I could play without it. I came across Heroes 3: Complete.

This game was a source of hours of enjoyment when I was younger. I can remember loving how my friend and I could battle against the computer while playing on the same computer! I love the play style and incredible thought that went into this game to make it as fun as it is. The best part is, I can use only my left hand to play, and seeing as I will be in an immovable cast for the next couple months, this is a huge plus.

This is where I run into trouble. I have been reading threads here for some time, getting familiar with things again. However, I still am so noobish when it comes to this game. I am very much a visual learner, and came across this thread: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=32790.

I know these games can take up enormous amounts of time, but I am at a loss at everything in this game, from hero management to resource gathering, to how to best use the combat system to my advantage. Then I come across players like agelito. I saw a picture where he cleared a garrison of dragons and other insane creatures with centaurs and little else (I believe).

It would help me out immensely if someone would make a replay or help me find some replays already out there to watch. I found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZXwbdJo5_k, and am anxious for more. I keep hearing how Conflux is broken, would anyone mind showing me why with a complete game replay? I would really like to gain a better sense of this seeing as I love playing with this race and don't seem to do well.

Thanks a lot for those help, I really appreciate you guys taking time out of your schedule to help me, I understand it's no less valuable than mine, so thank you all very much.

I'm no super player by a long shot, but I can tell you the two words that will make any player shudder in fear of the Conflux:

Magic University.

Having free access to the magic school skills, especially water and earth, is a massive advantage.
Then there's Phoenixes, which are the speediest creature in the game, grow twice as fast as other L7s, and have auto-resurrection and two-hex breath attacks to boot.
The grail building is ridiculous as well.

Well, first thing's first, we wish you a speedy recovery. Well, I don't have a replay for Conflux but I could start by saying that Conflux is no doubt the most overpowered Town in HMM3. The Town's Grail (Ultimate Artifact that you have to find via the Obelisks scattered around the map that "unlock" a puzzle telling you the location where to dig for it) makes all the spells available in the Mage Guild. I think I wouldn't have to tell you why this poses as a huge threat to other players. The Magic University offers the player access to mastering any or all of the four types of elemental magic (Fire, Water, Wind and Earth). This could turn battles to your favor. Conflux Creatures are ridiculous as well. Each Elemental is immune to its corresponding element but is vulnerable to the opposing element. The Fire Elementals are immune to fire magic but takes twice as much damage from cold spells. So let's say we split a number of FEs into 6 stacks as your Hero's troops and having mastered the Fire Magic skill from the Magic University, you could cast a devastating Armageddon that most probably wipes out your enemy's entire troop in 1 round without even one of your troops suffering damage. I'm rusty but I also remember that the top-level creature in Conflux has the greatest number of production per week. Fans generally found the newly-added Conflux to be so unfair to the other town types that they've actually asked if there's a way to rip the town off of the game.

Well, I managed to find a few gamepley videos of HMM3. Enjoy. I hope these videos will help you clear things up a bit.

I'd say, choose easy difficulty level, and choose almost ANY faction to play with.

If I would recommend a specific faction, for variety and all, I'd say choose Dungeon or Castle: both show strengths in different battle strategies, having trrops that can fly, shoot and 'melee' attack with danger. Both have strong heroes and guilds that cast powerful dangerous or beneficial spells.

The best thing will be to try it out on your own - of course, knowing which level creatures you will fight is paramount, so you have to know e.g., that having some creatures of levels 1 thru 5 is almost always nothing if u r up x Chaos Hydras or  Titans (upgraded lvl 7 crits)...

Hey guys, just got done with surgery, it went well, but I will be sitting down for quite some time.

Thanks to those who have responded, those other videos were great. I would really love a savegame or full replay of conflux because all I have to do all day is sit.

Thanks again guys, and I look forward to a good game of conflux to watch!
