oh come one, Allow me to experiment with creature placement. Also, this is a whole new mythology, and the vampires are meant to be a dark reflection of the angels.

Sorry that reply was aimed at Warlord, not you. It is of course your choice what you do with the factions, but I'd really suggest either ditching vampires (the never really fitted in with the Necro ethos IMO), or making them more leaders than troops.

they are more dominators, in this case.

in the campaign, the minotaur forces of the bastion get decimated by the Necromancer Kassandra (in the search for the body of her loved one), and when the shadow is released, the shadow and it's servants, the vampires, take control over the bastion by the perversion of their warrior code.

I have to say, at this point I have difficulties picturing your units.

I realy fail to see what Flagellants would add to a battle. Religious zealots whipping themselves, and probably their enemies that get close, seem hardly an appropriate substitute for soldiers.
Also witchhunters and saint seem highly placed. Zeal can do a lot to people, but not put them on par with dragons.

Also After Crisis Haven has the reek of Warhammer's Empire. Not that it is a bad thing, but it seems sorta nicked.

I can't say I'm a big fan of Before Crisis Stronghold. In such few numbers, I have trouble seeing Orcs as the dominant species. Also I get a sort of "been there, done that" feeling.

I like After Crisis Stronghold better, but I haven't got a clue what to picture as the Warforge.

Academy is what I expected from it, as I was reading your writings. But again I have trouble picturing the Living Rune and Basalt Stalker.

Still these are at the moment just a bunch of names and not much can be derived from that. I would probably have more remarks to make with more info.

yeah, that's why they are so low, they are cannon fodder, really. they are also alot more aggressive as a unit, probably frenzied as well.

the witch hunters are probably a bit high up. they are meant to have some really good anti-spell caster specials.

Saints I think are apropriate, as these are saints with actual powers, and act like demigods, or something.

agreed, but I also looked around at Disciples 2 and others, too.

well yeah, fair enough, but the shaman are also orcs too.

the warforge is a massive war engine, firing molten rocks and scrap metal at the enemy.

the living runes are a bunch of construct creatures fashioned into the shapes of runes. they store magic and expell them. they are essentially spells casters. they can also speak, although it's more like sounds.

the basalt stalkers are statues of feirce beasts made out of Basalt. they don't move when you look at them, according to myth, but if you turn you're back on then, they strike and rip you're throat out instantly. they are teleporters as well.

agreed, I wasn't particularly clear on what they do, I hope that sorts it out.

edit: sanctuary and bastion units, both before and after crisis, are up.

How come vampires don't fit in Necropolis? They're undead, skeletons are undead, zombies are undead? So what if they look and act differently? They are just Necromancers.

IMO troglodytes and harpies were lame and horrible looking.I was happy that I didn't see them in HoMM 5 But rest of ideas are interesting.

Okayh, so you think they should replace the obviously useless Zombies with Mummies then, after all, they're only undead too right?

While skeletons, zombies, and ghosts are just raised by Necromancers.
Vampires don't actually die, the others do. If Vampires belong anywhere in Necro (and I don't believe they do), it's as heroes rather than foot-soldiers.

That's because they're Necromancers that want to "cheat" death. That's the whole point of them.

However, they live in graves and come out at night to leech the blood out of other people. That's good enough for me.

Why replace zombies? What's wrong with them?

I was just stating that vampires can be undead even if they look different from the other undead.

None of those points apply to other undead though.

Well they rarely ever get used because they move at a snail's pace, that's what's wrong with them.

I never argued that they weren't undead, I simply believe that they don't fit in with the rest of the undeads.

IMO, they should have pulled Vampires from Necro rather than Death-Knights.
