Clash of Heroes (some hints and tips also)

Ok Might and Magic: Clash of heroes is a very unusual game.  It takes a little bit Bejeweled, adds RPG elements as well as creatures; heroes; and artifacts from the Might and Magic world.  I am going to give a little information, about this..so please read no further if you do not want tips, possible spoilers, and such.

First, both heroes and creatures level up.  Creatures tend to have a max level of 5, and heroes a max level of 10.  When gaining levels the hero gains hit points, max wall strength (see the strategy section), and an increase on how many creatures they can have on the field at one time (also see strategy section). I believe their spells get stronger also, but I am not positive on this.

Creatures, when they gain levels, increase damage and health.

Each hero has their own spell.  Some do damage, some protect, and others do something else (see strategy post coming soon).

There are artifacts, side quests (for money and resources), and even puzzle challenges (see strategy post coming soon).  The campaign is short, and the story line is ok but nothing epic.  It is the gameplay that really really is addicting.

Strategy, hints, tips, and possible SPOILERS. You have been warned...read no further if you are not interested.

Ok first we have to discuss the types of units.  Each town has 3 'levels' of units.  Core, (will find this one out, can't remember what it is called off hand lets call it Tri for now), and Fusion units.

Idle units.  Any unit, core, tri, or fusion who is not glowing.

Every town has 3 core units.  There is no limit to how many there are, besides the number of units that the hero can have on the field. In order to get them to DO anything but absorb a little attack, however..you have to DO something with them.

You must move, delete, or otherwise adjust units until there are three 'core' units of the same color in a row either vertically or horizontally.

If they are vertical, they will 'charge' for a set amount of rounds.

'Charging' means they sit there glowing, gaining strength.  Once the set number of rounds (generally 2-3 for core units) passes, they will race up the screen toward your enemy.  If they hit a wall or other units on the way..they loose attack strength (which depends on several factors I won't get into) until they reach 0.  If they don't reach the enemy's 'heath bar' they will do no damage to you or the enemy.  (if your enemies don't reach your health bar, they don't do damage to you).

However, since the field can fit more then just three..if you put three of the same color 'core' units behind them .. every three you match makes the first three stronger by merging.  If you match three of a different color they do not merge however.

Now if you match three OR MORE horizontally they form a wall.  Literally they transform into walls of various kinds.  Tri's and Fusions can not be used to form walls..only core units.

Walls strength is determined by the hero, and if the hero has any special abilities relating to walls.

Next we have the 'tri' units.  There is typically a max of 10 of these, and can be killed (then you have to find a place to buy them to replenish them).  They are typically unlocked by doing certain things, buying at least one, or by following the campaign.

Tri units are stronger then core units, usually have some decent special power (examples will follow), BUT they take longer to 'charge'. They take up two 'squares' instead of one.

Examples of powers.  'Deer' (Elf Tri unit) - Jumps over Walls, ignoring the first layer of walls completely.

Nightmare - All Nightmare units attack at the same time regardless of where they are on their 'charging' (note, as they charge they get stronger, but if they charge because another is charging..they are normally not as strong).

Priest - As they are charging, you regain 2 hit points for every turn they charge.

So they come in pretty handy (along with being generally stronger then core units).

In order to charge a 'Tri' unit, you need the tri unit, and to put 2 core units of the same color behind the tri unit.

Both Core and Tri units, however..pale against the FUSION Units.

Might and powerful creatures, that require FIVE units to start powering.  Their attack power is the most powerful, and some have very impressive special abilities (a few of the most impressive will be listed soon).

Now Fusion units can be hard to get to 'charging'.  Because you need the Fusion unit, plus 4 core units of the same exact color as the Fusion unit.  You put the 4 core units in a square behind the huge Fusion unit. Each fusion unit also takes up four squares itself.

If hit when 'idle' both tri units and fusion units are destroyed. If you delete them they are destroyed.  If they are charging, but take enough damage, they can be destroyed.  If destroyed you have to buy more, they are not unlimited like core units.  Now for some of the fusion creatures names and abilities.

Phoenix.  This is a really really powerful unit.  If your hero's life points hit zero while it is 'charging' (it doesn't work if it is idle) then the hero does NOT die.  Instead depending on the level of the Phoenix a certain number of hit points are returned to the hero.  This happens every time the hero's life reaches zero and the Phoenix is charging on the field.

Wraith - Scary.  Anything it hits is destroyed..including the hero.  That means if a wraith has ONE attack point left and reaches your life bar that has 100 hp left .. you LOSE.

Where did you get the name of fusion units?
Since there already is a fusion technique in the game isn't it a tad confusing?
Why not just call them big units?

BTW. everybody knows the best units are level two. Vampire, ghost, unicorn, nightmare, druid, etc.

I personally like the core, t2 and t3 mix.

Unless i'm going for a specific strategy like

Archer bombing, Quickwraithing or Wallbusting.

Nightmare rush with the double attack power artifact is pretty nasty.

@Joonas, take the ring that gives you more moves at the start and bam, you got a chain of atleast 5 maers byt the time they strike.

Also, going sylvan and only having archers and no other creatures is a real killer for the enemy.

No, unicorns are worth having as they do pretty hefty damage for the cost.

And also, i guess we should've seen one resource coming. Coh only had one resource.
