I am very fond of nightmare/hell stallion , therefore I will not like it very much if it does not make it in H6. The efreet is okish but I believe the nightmare is more badass .

If the flaming horse rider from the poster is indeed a full haven unit, does that mean that the fire spirit is also going to be a unit?

Maybe, could be, but I'm still skeptical.

Edit: Think this new cavalry guy is a bit over the top.
And by a bit, I mean a LOT.
Not liking it at all, will take a lot of getting used to.

Edit2: AAAND I'm on my post cap.
So... yeah it does spice up their line-up, they were always the most boring faction of the series, but to be honest, I'm hard pressed to prefer "overdone" to "boring".
But maybe that's because I never cared about that faction to begin with.

Edit3: At least Danny likes it.
I'll admit they have a kind of charm, but this really is one that's going to have me on the "not liking side of the fence" for a while.
Possibly due to raw shock of SOMETHING VAGUELY resembling originality appearing in Knight/Castle/Haven.

I like how the only difference between the basic and the upgraded unit is a cape...

Techncally some colors are different too, but I can't even look at the unit for longer than 5 seconds without my eyes bleeding....

To be honest, Haven as the most boring faction ever in Heroes, imo, need to spice up their units. It is over the top I agree but if it isn't like that then Haven will be stuck as the most boring faction in Heroes.

My God, this is the best looking Haven unit like EVER! Finally this faction gives something exciting!!

The Sun Rider

There are many knights in the Holy Empire, but only those deemed worthy by Elrath himself can join the Order of the Holy Sun. Commonly known as Sun Riders, these champions of the Light are riding enchanted steeds summoned from Elrath's spiritual realm. These magical mounts are said to be able to ride on the faintest ray of light.

The Sun Crusader is the upgraded Sun Rider.

This definitely counts as a new unit, so I guess Haven will end up with more new than old. The Monk will come back and then there's still one more unit left, but it's unlikely that it's a Footman variation, right?

Like MrDragon said in the discussion. I think it is a cavalier only shiny one:
so the old units are:
1. Angel --> Seraph
2. Crossbowman --> Crossbowman
3. Cavalier --> Sun Rider
4. Griffin --> Griffin
The New units are:
1. Sentinel: Unless you want to compare this with Peasant
2. ????
3. ????

40% new to the series I think the comparison will be Heroes V.

Seraph and Sun Rider are new. Sure, they are reworks of the old units but still more than the Succubus or the Pit Fiend that have a new look but retained their old names. The Sentinel was also compared to the Pikeman the same way.

I know that but it's the same point. The game tells us Seraph is not the same as the Angel in H5 even though it looks similar. In the case of Sun Rider, the concept is the same, a cavalier unit but they are riding a different horse and will most likely get different special abilities. In contrast, the Pit Fiend is made stronger and looks more serious but it's still the same unit.

If that's the case then most of Haven was new to H5. Personally though, I wouldn't call any of the Haven units new except the Sentinel, the rest are just tweaked, (the Seraph is still basically an Angel, no matter what they call it, unless it#s abilities are hugely different from the Angel's, and it's the same here, those abilities have got to be seriously different before I'd consider it a new unit).

How so? It was an identical lineup to the H3 except Peasants kicked out the Pikemen.

The Seraph is one of the Angels but NOT the same Angel as the H5 unit. That will be obvious when other Angels start to appear as bosses.

Sun Rider is the exact case as the Rakshasa vs Naga thing, a new look but similar concept and (possibly) same purpose. It's still a new unit, no matter how you cut it.

Let's Not stretch the truth!!!
Haven units Are Not new!!!
Sentinels Are Pikemans (it is a Haven unit with a pike)
Seraphs Are Angels (however they are called or if they are weaker, one extra sword do Not make them New)
Sun Riders Are Cavaliers/Champions (the fact that their horses are now blazing and eye irritating Do Not make them a new unit)

Every creature looked different from one HoMM to another (exept maybe HoMM1 and HoMM2), but wasn't considered a new unit just because of that!

Actually the sentinels are more akin to H5 squires in that they are protectors though they're still a lot more interesting. Sun rider is not quite a champion either, very different specials and quite possibly less offensive. It's just angels that are close to their previous incarnations - though nicely tweaked.

Ok so atm Haven has:

* One shooter but the Haven description says they are weak on shooters anyway. The Crossbowman. Personally, I think this unit is very boring and I would have prefered some kind of Monk throwing missiles of Light or even an archer that has arrows blessed by Elrath. They do not stand out for me.

* An early tank-like creature who's purpose in early game is probably mostly to protect the Crossbowmen. The new Sentinel/Praetorian. I think this unit looks really cool though I think it could use some nice, flashy glowing effect on the weapon.

* An early or mid (personally I think early to balance it out) flyer in the Griffin. Probably quite fast. I am thinking that they are the offensive support of the Core creatures. The Griffins in H6 looks almost exactly the same as in h5 when it comes to the upgraded armour. That was disappointing. I think the H6 Griffin looks retarded but that's just me because I know many low it.

* A mid tier Sun Rider who is probably quite fast but has been stated to not be as offensive as the Cavaliers in the other HoMM games. They probably have some sort of support ability (think lay of hands from the h5 paladins).

* A high level Champion unit - the Seraph. They seem to be very similar to the H5 Angels though the names of their weapons suggest something offensive which would make sense if Havens last flying offensive creature is the Griffin.

So from this we can probably come to the conclusion that we have:

* 1 early Shooter (X-bow), 1 early Tank (Sent) & 1 early but possibly mid-tier Flyer (Grif).

* 1 mid fast walker (Rider) that seems like some kind of offensive/defensive hybrid with a bit of a support.

* A champion Seraph creature. Obviously a fast creature and I'd would say that they are going to be more similar to Seraphs in H5 than Archangels in H5.

So what can we see here?
Let's compare the other factions. Necropolis has a caster and it is likely that all factions will end up having some kind of caster creature. We also have concept art showing some kind of holy spirit.

Most likely, we are going to see a Caster here. My theory is that it will be the Holy/Divine Spirit.

Since Haven appears to have both a flyer at Core and Champion level, I do not think that they will have a third Elite flyer. Instead, they will probably have a fast, offensive walker.
This could be anything but I suggest a new type of an old creature:
Monks. But these would not be spellcasting Monks, these would be martial war-monks charging into battle with the might of Elrath's light. It would also be strange to not see any monks or priest though I am sure the Magic hero of Haven will be some kind of Cleric, Prophet or Priest.

In the end, my theory on how Haven will end up looking like looks like this:

Core
Crossbowman -> Marksman
Griffin -> Imperial Griffin
Sentinel -> Praetorian

Elite
Sun Rider -> Sun Crusader
Divine Spirit -> Empyrean Spirit
Battle Monk -> War Zealot

Champion
Seraph -> Celestial

Okay so Peasant/Conscript is new anyway, after that:

Archer
H3 Abilities: Shooter/Shooter, Double-shot
H5 Abilities: Shooter, Scatter Shot/Shooter, Precise Shot

Griffin (Tier 3 in 3, Tier 4 in 5)
H3 Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer, Two Retaliations/Large Creature, Flyer, Unlimited Retaliations
H5 Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer, Unlimited Retaliations, Immune to Blind/Large Creature, Flyer, Unlimited Retaliations, Immune to Blind, Battle Dive

Swordsman (Tier 4 in 3, Tier 3 in 5)
H3 Abilities: -/Attacks Twice
H5 Abilities: Large Shield, Bash, Enraged/Large Shield, Bash, Shield Allies, Enraged

Priest
H3 Abilities: Shooter/Shooter, No Melee Penalty
H5 Abilities: Shooter, No Melee Penalty/Shooter, No Melee Penalty, Caster

Cavalier
H3 Abiliites: Large Creature, Jousting/Large Creature, Jousting
H5 Abilities: Large Creature, Jousting/Large Creature, Jousting, Lay Hands.

Angel
H3 Abilities: Flyer, 150% Damage to Devils/Large Creature, 150% Damage to Devils, Resurrect Allies
H5 Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer/Large Creature, Flyer, Resurrect Allies

Oh, and the Large creature thing doesn't correlate between games either because of the way the BF is set up.

Are they really that similar?

Actually, IMO it'll be more like the Archer, slightly touched up art, but, with new abilities. ie, a unit that 'plays' new, but doesn't actually 'feel' new.
