Buffy the Vampire Slayer Discussion (Spoilers Inside)

So I figured we should have a thread for Buffy discussion as opposed to completely derailing the movie thread.

So, anyways, general thoughts? Favorite characters/moments? I always loved Willow, personally, and was horrified with what they did to her in S6; it was just so poorly executed. That can be applied to S6 in general, to be honest, but especially to Willow's treatment. As far as villains go, most of them were excellent, but Spike, the Mayor and the Master have to stand out as my favorites; they were funny but still gave off an undeniable aura of evil competence.

Some of my favorite moments/episodes, in no particular order:
-Willow actually hurting Glory
-"Out.For.A.Walk...snow."
-S2's Halloween episode
-S1's Nightmares episode
-The alternate universe episodes with Vampire Willow
-Spike meeting and talking with Joyce
-Once More With Feeling
-The rocket launcher
-Darla packing heat
-Anything with the Mayor, he was a phenomenal villain
-The mass reveal of the entire class being armed at graduation
-Faith finally seeing the light in S7 (I always liked her )
-The episode in S3 focused around Xander (The Zeppo?)
-Caleb-he should have been the main villain of S7, in my opinion.
-The false Anointed One giving the speech on the bus before he dies
-Xander's misfired love spell

She saw the light during season 4, though in the Angel series. Angel convinced her to turn herself in during a crossover episode where both Angel and Buffy played together.

The Zeppo, yeahh! It was a beautiful episode, in many ways. I love early Xander! He changed in some ways to not such a good character. Much more ... comic relief.

Nono, they had the ultimate evil to fight. Sort of. I became a fan of Nathan Fillion after those few episodes though

Xander's misfired love spell

And how he looks back at it as if it was a good thing ... in Him, season 7, I think.

What about Giles with a chainsaw in Fear Itself (halloween, season 4).

Willow, Willow, Willow...
Who didn't love Willow? A geek, A witch and definite hottie!
Plus she had the coolest doppelganger ever.

I `liked Angelus. He was just wicked. Spike was just someone out for a good brawl but Angelus was out to snow with everyone's mind.

That said, Angel is pretty good in his badass mode too. Lighting Darla and Dru on fire was priceless!
"Daddy?"
*throws the cigarette, WHOOM!

And Faith, damn she was one fiiiiiine lady. Little kicked around in the head too much but that's just the way I like 'em. Is there a better thing than a little out of control woman with superpowers?

All in all Kate must be my favourite though. There was just something in her. Being thrown into the whole mess due to everyone around her. Then choosing to not close her eyes. Being completely devastated by it all. Just a good character.

for some reason, I just don't remember the 7th season.

I remember willow turning evil at the end of season 6 and killing warren, and the meta-vampires of season 8. or maybe there was only 7 seasons?

season 5 was the most disappointing, I thought.

lol, I remember the mayor coming in the library and getting impaled I think. why so much violence?

just after adam is killed, the episode where buffy dreams. it was just silly

the mini fear-demon in the halloween episode, season 4 I think

Yeah, mini fear demon in Fear Itself.
"I should have read the paragraph under the picture?"
"What does it say?"
"Actual size."

The dream is hilarious, but yeah maybe a tiny bit silly at times

The best part of season 5 I think is Riley leaving, and Spikes obsession with Buffy.

Übervamps was in season 7, yeah!

I wonder if the most silly episode wasn't the one where a demon forces everyone to sing and dance till death XD

Yeah, Faith in S4 Angel was quite good as well. That series is when I really started to like Angel in general; he just got so much funnier. Stuff like the dancing scene was just priceless. Kate was great too, I was so disappointed that she didn't show up at all during later seasons. One of the few things that show did wrong.

And you gotta love Faith clubbing in Angel as well.

I hated, hated, HATED Connor though; oh my god was he irritating. Every single freakin' time he did something appallingly stupid everyone just overlooked it. Damn that kid.

Spike becoming obsessed with Buffy caught me totally by surprised, but it was great.
"You're not the robot!"
"No, the robot was creepy and disgusting and wrong."

And yeah, I know that the First Evil was supposed to be the main villain for S7, but I just wasn't that impressed by it; it felt overdone and a bit silly. They're going to try to kill evil itself? C'mon. Caleb was a much better success as a villain in my eyes; he was intimidating, scary, and believable.

Xander did kinda lose his way a bit later on, although in S7 he got a lot more respect from me; basically the whole thing with Anya in S6 was a train wreck. God, I hate that season; it's fine to have one or two characters go through a crisis, but completely destroying every character on a show that's all about relationships and friendship was, quite frankly, appalling. Have I mentioned how much I hate S6?

who was Caleb? I don't remember there was a main villain in S7 apart from an army of meta vampires.

S6 was fun.

The main villain in S6 was the First Evil; the big scary dude who has the cultists with mutilated faces and tries to get Angel to kill himself after he returns in S3.

The ubervamps were more so expendable minions than villains; Caleb was the superstrong preacher/priest.

You liked S6? Really? I thought it started off very well and then took an absurdly steep nosedive after OMWF and Tabula Rasa. The whole "MAGIC=DRUGS", for example, just felt so overt and forced. And then they destroyed everything about each character that made them likeable. Fun times.

Actually Angel beat Faith, twice.
But then again, the two never did fight on even ground. Always drugged, psychic problems or something along those lines.

Have to agree about Connor. SOMEBODY KILL THAT LOSER ALREADY!

And he is STILL there, couldn't they just wipe him off the earth in the apocalypse? Nooooo, he had to survive! Go die in a ditch!

Btw. anyone else reading the comics?

Oh no, I meant actually clubbing, like dancing at a nightclub. Liked those scenes for the character development, totally.

And yup, at least Angel finally told him to get the hell out of his sight after he got raised from the ocean floor though. The last thing that really made me lose any remaining patience I had with Connor was the whole ****storm with Glory; Connor beating all of Angel Investigations in a fight at all so that Cordelia/Glory could escape was absurd, but the line where he says something to the effect of "You can't stop stealing my women" in reference to Cordelia literally made me want to punch my TV screen in rage. God, I hate him. Hate, hate, hate him.

ah yes, seeing the picture of caleb, I kinda remember him. I think he appeared at the end of season 6 and tortures Giles, no? but wasn't willow responsible for the apocalypse? I think she tried to raise some kind of temple. unless she was under the control of caleb, don't remember... he didn't die at the end of the season?

I saw the 2 last seasons only once and it must have been 10 years ago...

Nope, Caleb is the captain from Firefly/Serenity if you know that actor; he shows up a ways through S7.

Willow going crazy and trying to destroy the world (should have been just destroy the town, in my opinion-that was a little much to swallow, and if you use "destroy the world" plots too much they kinda lose their value) was the end of S6. Giles doesn't get tortured, as far as I recall, although he does engage in a pretty awesome battle of magic with Willow.

Man, Dark Willow could have been handled so much better. Just thinking about S6 Willow depresses me.

Not as far as I recall; Caleb would have torn him to shreds in seconds.

Maybe you're thinking of when Spike tortures him in S2?

Angel tortured him in season 2, not Spike.

Spike tried to fight Caleb but got thrown around, Faith got her ass kicked and even Buffy got thrown around in the beginning. And when Xander (unwillingly) faced him ... well

And Giles got tortured by Willow in season 6 after Willow kicked his ass. I wouldn't even call it a fight, as he didn't really stand much chance against her.

Lol, Caleb looks so silly in that picture.

And yeah, Dark Willow was kind of a badass. I actually didn't mind that part, what I disliked was how badly the lead-up to it was handled.
