You need movement to cast spells? How does that work? Only yoga masters can cast armageddon? Why? I though spells needed just waving around a staff or an incantation, not acrobatics.

Two words: Somatic Components.

Spell casting as depicted in popular fantasy typically requires elobrate hand gestures and is therefore best executed in clothing that does not restrict the upper body movement to much.
A simple gestural inaccuracy supposedly can cause a miscast or even cause magic to backfire.
Simply wearing gloves reduces your tacticle senses and manual dexterity.

At least, that is one popular explenation why most casters IN FANTASY WARFARE wear little or no armor.
(Can't argue realism of a man's atire when he's shooting fireballs all over the place.)

Another is that heavy armor actually interferes with the magical energies channeled through the body or space around the caster.

There are plenty of explenations for why they don't wear armor.

It's incredible what can be forgiven once you see the creatures in motion. Several of the female units look a tad bit masculine though.
Here's looking at you, Succubus.

I greatly prefer the HVI designs; some of the HV designs exuded a very strong Warcraft influence which I wasn't too fond of. HVI seems to have gone in a more traditional HoMM art style, which I like.

Am I the only one who thinks it retarded that just about 80% of all H6 units for some unimaginable reason have gigantic claws? Or spikes?

And honestly, glory of light? I could have thought of better things to put there rather than some snowty random idea that came dropping out of absolutely nowhere.

Lets hear it. What would you put instead of glories? But it has to be logical, to matches with the lore...

If you are looking only at the spikes you'll just see spikes and nothing else. Pay attention to something else and you'll see that H6 is simply perfect.

Eh, the Gargoyle wasn't badly designed, it just wasn't something one would expect to see on the battlefield.

Well I agree with you on the Spikes, which I think are both redundant and ugly (most of the Necropolis creatures look like **** in the upgraded form because of all the metal ware, and the Lacerator just looks stupid).

However, I'm also very curious as to what you would put instead of the Glory in Haven. Much as I despise the Glory (and I do, a lot), I must admit I've only seen one good suggestion for a really innovative unit I think would be a good replacement (and I wasn't the one who made the suggestion).

Well, if you have to rule out clergymen (Sister), footsoldiers (sentinel) and horse units (sun rider), there's little to choose between.

So,umm... "Peasant... of... Light"?

I like the Heroes VI creatures much more; they feel like the classic, more "realistic fantasy" look of the HoMM series as opposed to the somewhat warcraftian creatures of Heroes V.

That's not to say I disliked the Heroes V ones, many of them were gorgeous, but I prefer the Heroes VI art style.

As far as Stronghold goes, I like the horse mount opposed to the ox mount; there's a reason why knights and generals ride horses instead of oxen.

Some of the hero mounts in V were just plain silly, I'm glad to see the horses back.

Well, except the Valkyrie is sort of redundant with the Angel already being there, plus there's a deffinitely clash of cultural influences if you put the Valkyrie and the Angel into the same faction.

And as for Crusader ... I actually agree with Nightterror, I don't really think he's an inspired choice. We already have one human footman (the Sentinel), another one seems somewhat redundant.

I think Glories were a good choice. Maybe the design felt like they just got out of the Marvel Universe but oh well...

Glories like I said in another post were inspired by Christian Mythology (yeah, I'm an atheist and to me that's mythology).

Read this article in wikipedia: Glory (Religion)

That's where H6 Glories came from, and I think they're very fitting.

Ok what about Inquisitor? I know that we have a Vestal already, but she is a healer.. Inquisitors/Priests, could be an offensive ones, with "anathema" spells and so on..
OR
i still insit on Alkonost! (angelic bird with human head, whoever doesn't know)

p.s. btw i think if we had Male Priest instead of Vestal, maybe Glory will be accepted easier.. Otherwise she kind of looks too similar to Vestal..
also design of the creature doesn't look "divine" at all.. especially when i saw update on web-site.. it's like yellow voodoo something..

That's because all the models are dependant on particle effects in order to look good, which is greatly difficult to render in flash.
