Maybe, just maybe, Elodin, you should just READ the ruling of the court; you would than see, that your interpretation is wrong.

Yet I am the only one citing the actual cases and words of the justices. Who plainly said atheism is a religion.

Quote:

Second, for the rest you are sinply raping logic and language. Rejecting a belief - disbelieving it - doesn't constituate a religion, because disbelieving something you need faith for doesn't need any faith itself.

With your definitions, disbelieving in Scientology would constitute a new religion.

No, JJ, I am not a rapist of people or logic.  I am a caterer of truth. I set a tasty buffet before you. You can feast upon it and be sated or chose to go eat unfillfilling and harmful fast food instead. Everyone has a choice.

Yes, disbelieving in something without evidence is faith. Especially when one says, "No god exists." That is indeed a declaration of faith.

Yes, disbelieving in Scientolgy is part of my religion. We Christians know there is only one God, and he has revealed himself through history, through the Bible, through the person of Jesus Christ, through the Spirit, and continues to do so today. Certainly Scientologist are entitled to their beliefs just as everyone is.

And I suppose you even expect to be taken seriously at that.

So the bottom line is - and we don't realize this for the first time, mind you - that you are underlying words - language in general - with your very personal definitions, all under the glowing motto: "What must not be can't be and what has to be is."

You are using the same words than everyone else, but clearly the meaning you give them is different. The interesting thing is, that you even change words and meanings from other posts and posters. No wonder that communication in any meaningful sense is not possible.

Examples for ... well, how do we call it? Let's see:

This speaks for itself when you compare the underlined passages. How can you call that? Dishonest? Probably not. Unrelated? That's more like it. No one said what you are answering to: I say something like:

A is B.
Than you say:
Yes, indeed, C is B, I'm right.
Or, Yes, indeed, A is C, I'm right.

Or I say

You do X and Y.
And you say, no I do not Y and Z.

That has nothing to do with communication - it's soliloquy. Which I leave you to.

It would be really nice if you would learn to debate without attacking your opponent. No, saying that is my motto is an absolute lie.  My motto is "If." I mean the poem by Kipler. It is a poem I memorized long ago in a time of trial and has a lot of truth and good advise in it.

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

JJ, may I ask - and I'm not trying to be overtly flippant here - why do you even bother?

Since the question is probably justified I suppose I should now quote something, like, say, The Bouncing Souls's Hopeless Romantic

I don't know what other people see,
or what they think is love,
but I know know what it means to me,
I fall in love so easily.
And it's hard to let your guard down,
something you never wanted to do,
but I gave you my love and if you turned away,
I guess I'd be screwed, but...

I'm a hopeless romantic,
you're just hopeless.

Beer and wine does me fine,
but it doesn't always do.
When I get back up and dust off,
I always come back to you.
I'm my own man with my own plan,
I can't do the things you want me to.
I'm kinda' lazy and I kinda' stink,
but I'll clean myself up for you.

I'm a hopeless romantic,
you're just hopeless,
I'm a hopeless romantic,
you're just hopless,
you're just hopeless,
you're just hopeless.

But, no, you may. Ask, I mean.
And you don't sound flippant at all.
To tell the truth, I have no idea.
On the other hand, since I do it, there must be am underlying reason. Masochism? The disbelief that even though there is overwhelming evidence, looking at the last couple thousand years, reason is just a small flickering ember compared to the raging fires of personal phantasms and self-deceit?

Ah, well, to, err, hell with it.

Oh yes, a Fire

as you have numbered.

Holy mother of God, (excuse the blaspheme) I didn't realize that this thread was actually still open.

Well, I think that I'll try asking a new question (ignore the last few pages...), this time a question about the future. What do you think will happen if:

Romney wins the election?

Gingritch wins the election?

Paul wins the election?

Obama wins the election?

Try to paint your response in the broadest of strokes. Try not to get too specific, as that tends to lead to finger pointing and "You can't know that!"s

Simple, this will happen:

It's also a nice response to your muppet decision to bump this god-forsaken thread (and I dare-say the new topic on its own would've received the same reception from me )
