Aculias, remind me to never bet against you

Angelito, I get that you're German and all that and I do think Dirk is one of the greatest players to play the game however when jason terry is your second best player on the team your chances of getting that chip are slim to none, just my opinion

Yeah, we all saw how far one team can get when the second best player is Pau Gasol Or Manu Ginobili

To be honest, the best weapon the Mavs have is their bench. No other team can compete. No other team has scored more points from the bench than the Mavs did in ANY game this season!

And after fighting 82 regular games, the starting five needs more rest then ever.

And about Terry. This was his first good postseason game. He normally sucks in the play offs. So best player behind Nowitzki is clearly Kidd. And with Chandler they finally have a big good guy in the paint. Barea is a very good replcement for the breaks Kidd needs.

Just to mention: The bench of the Mavs scored 86 points in the last game vs the Lakers. The Lakers as a whole scored 86 too.....

I am really happy to see the Lakers drop out (fan of SacTown, mwehehe) the only thing I`m awaiting to really see in these playoffs is to see the Miami Hate drop out (which I fear won`t happen and they will win at least EC). From that time, I don`t care who will win.

I think, we should also mention that Peja also played a major role in putting LAL aside.

@ Aculias, so, Oakland you say, understand the cali rivalry now, snatching David Lee and Steph from Knicks... not cool man, just not cool... btw there are rumors about a trade - granger, collison and indiana's first rnd pick for Steph and Biedrines.. just a rumor though

@ Angelito, agreed Mavs have the best bench in the league

Regarding Kidd being the second best player, respect Jason but his knees are way to old to run around chasing rose/westerbrook. he is a smart point but he just can't penetrate the paint nor open himself up for a free jumper, with d fish and miller he didn't have to do anything but with younger guards... he's dead
Chandler, great D but the dude wouldn't be able to score on his own nor to solve a 76+453= even if his life depended on it, one dimensional player with low IQ...

But I'm glad all the "giants" are out, Bulls/Heat and OKC/Mavs is refreshing ... let's all hope next year it will be knicks, golden state and sac-town joining the mavs... LOL I'm allowed to have one delusional thought per day

Yea well they used to be the San Francisco Warriors & old school SF natives. My dad has been their home team since he knew them.

We are not Oakland fans, but i guess we dont have a choice lol.

The Mavs won the regular series 2-1 vs OKC, but were handicaped because Nowitzki got injured in second game after 11 minutes (they still won that game 103-93 though), they lost only the third game when they played without Dirk (95-99). Kidd scored nearly a triple double in second game (9 R, 10 A, 10 P), so I think he can be quite confident in the (possible) upcoming games vs OKC..

Oh...I didn't know a center has to do some math tests during a game
But how does this description of yours NOT fit on Shaq or Dampier?

@ Aculis - Come on, stop it, there are at least a few cool people on the other side of the bridge Wonder what this thread looked like when golden state pulled off the upset over mavs, how mad was Angelito ?

@ Angelito,

Regular season is irrelevant to playoffs, after all boston just lost to miami after dominating them in the regular season and I'm not even talking about how the other series went down.

Regarding kidd, he had a few good games both in the season and the playoffs but seriously, he's retiring this or the next year, he's old and can't really be on the same level as the young guys,

Ok, what I said was that Chandler is good in defense however he has no offensive game at all and his basketball IQ is low, Dampier is a horrible center and shaq could pass the ball at the right time and is a hall of famer as well as one of the most dominating centers to ever play, not a fan of shaq but comparing chandler to shaq is like comparing barea to magic johnson. Chandler can dunk it if alone or on an alley up, besides that his offensive game is non existant.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think mavs can't go past OKC but right now the best team left, is miami and they are playing better than the other 3 teams for now, which makes them favorites. Besides 94' Rockets with Hakeem and larry brown's detroit (who had 4 all stars that season) no other team has won the chip without at least two superstars on the team which puts mavs in a bad position... Cuban is the one to blame

Eastern finals :

Miami VS Bulls

I say Bulls in 7, not a fan of the big three

Western finals :

Dalls VS OKC :

I think mavs will win in six, I think mavs deserve to win it, I think mavs are a better team but I will be rooting for the OKC

What an awesome game from Dirk last night

48 points
12-15 field goals (that's 80% )
24-24 free throws (new NBA record in postseason games!!)
6 rebounds
4 assists
4 blocks

In comparison:
Durant had great 40 points, but was 10-18 (55%)
Westbrook had 20 points, but 3-15 (20%)

And again the bench was a key factor:
Mavs outscored OKC 53-22 here.....

Yes Sir!!!!

The Mavs are in the finals, beating OKC 4-1

Dirk is just phenomenal...even Magic Johnson said he was remembered of Michael Jordan when he saw some of Dirk's spectacular throws in game 4.

I like the new name they gave to Dirk:

So Angelito, now when it all comes down to you against the entire south beach, you figure Dirk can win it this time ? Because I've seen them Heat play and I must say I'm impressed by their D

In any case I will be rooting for your Fav German as well, if Mavs take an L on this one I'll send you a post card with a sad smiley on it LOL....

I say Miami in 6, even though I would like to see Mavs in 7, feel like watching a good well fought finals....

Mavs in 5 ...

And about the Defense of Miami..

I think they played defense quite similar to the Mavs if you look at the stats of the 3 first rounds in the play offs:

MIAMI

Philadelphia didn't score once 100 or more points (5 games)
Boston didn't score once 100 or more points (5 games)
Chicago scored once 100 or more points (5 games)

DALLAS

Portland didn't score once 100 or more points (6 games)
Los Angeles (!!) didn't score once 100 or more points (4 games)
OKC scored 3 times 100 or more points (5 games)

But now let's take a look at the Offense of both teams:

MIAMI

Against Philadelphia 1 time 100 or more points
Against Boston 1 time 100 or more points
Against Chicago 1 time 100 or more points

DALLAS

Against Portland 2 times
Against LA 1 time
Against OKC 4 times

So while I think the defense of both teams are quite similar, I think the offense is slightly an advantage for Dallas, despite the BIG THREE!

Nope, not true.

To be honest, I wouldn't have thought about Derrick Rose a second. I really thought LeBron is the guy again this year. This guy is amazing. And he will rule the NBA for the next decade, I'm sure.

But the way Dirk played the whole play offs is just wow. Can you name any player who is that impressive and important for his team throughout the whole postseason this year?
