Heroes 6 Beta
Hi All,
I'm downloading the beta of heroes 6 at the moment and will start playing it today.
I'm curious what you guys think about it, so please all share experiences here.

So far it doesn't look bad at all, the gameplay is pretty comparible with H3. It all goes much slower tho.

from what i saw before - visible map is very small like 20x20 cells or even less.
i personally not interested in homm6 at all, will not test it or buy it

how many map cells can you see at monitor without scrolling?
(at comfortable level of details)

It's zoomed in yes, but on 1920x1080 it's not that bad.
What does suck is the small battle field, it's like 12 hex I think, you can reach enemies in 2 turns with most army.
The rest is really nice, specially those ablilities.

what do u mean u will not buy the game coz of small map ? talkin about being picky
beta has many glitches since its called beta lol, the game is beatiful, the story is complex and fun, there will be additional strategy with the abilities and new faction, if they polish it (needz a lot of polishing atm) right it will be a great time consuming game

Its nicer than homm5, its less manga-like, less childish, graphics is part of the game, has its importance

some peepz enjoy the story, enjoy developing their characters, and million other thingiez which will make campaign more replayable, homm game is not only multiplayer game, if u want multiplayer only go play WOW or some sport game, multiplayer haz fancy things as well

waznt aware im in a pissing competition with homm3, its time to evolve a bit, comparing every girl to "your first girlfriend" is boring, homm3 is the thing of past, move on,
homm3 had certain advantages over homm6, homm6 will have certain advantages over homm3, i cant really speak of the game which hasnt been released yet, creatures have more abilities, there is the racial aspect, new reputation system, many new things which are supposed to add to the depth of strategy, but its a bit soon to talk about all of them coz i havent seen the actual game but only buggy beta.
i have many things to complain about in homm6 but im glad we're getting new heroes game, the slight difference between a true homm fan and a not so true one, guess who u b ?

True HoMM fan likes H 1-4 and doesn't like 5-6 because it was created by UBI, who destroyed great old world and story while giving only some crappy plot in crappy new world.

I don't think that all these fans care about "old world", for example me not. Real fans create their own worlds for the game.
But that's just an offtopic.

The changes from H2 to H3 were not so important and in better, so TOH and players could quickly adapt. Once H4 came, it was clear that players will not change once more, changes were radical and in worse. Now, with H5-H6, I am sure those games have a lot to offer, but the MP community spent years to improve gameplay skills and random maps generator, so a "perfect" MP balance was achieved (not that I am seduced by the plethora of videos showing endless Shakti/Hack/Mephala/Ivor duels, but that's it).
Those players will not give easily away all those years spent on.
From a technical point of view also, seems that H5 was hardly possible to safely play online, games too long, overpowered features. The daily base game played and the Caesar endless dramas show us that the game had problems.
But SAG is wrong on one aspect: the single player is capital for a game surviving. If HoMM3 was not so perfect in single player, with so many gem maps around, no one would be here to even try MP. The community survived both due to MP and SP achievements. The transition between the two modes is fluent and rewarding.

I did not say that SP is not important.
I said that story is not important in MP games...and WCL community is all about MP (at least now). So far I have no arguments to spend time and/or money to see the homm6 game.
Perhaps Vinz will test homm6 and tell us what best features of homm6 should be enabled in homm3 WT
