Yes, I have listened to metal and punk. But it's sad, really, most of it. It ain't got no groove. All you white people want to do is headbang. And I don't hate all metal or punk (just most of it ), I can really dig Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper and several others. What I can't dig is Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Cracked Cookies or whatever they're all called. Man, that **** really sucks. And I don't think I'm the greatest music critic of all times, just my time! Come on, Duncman, lighten up, don't take everything so seriously, you've been listening to too much of that agressive, depressive, suicidal white rock!
Feel free to diss the music I like all you want, this is just for fun, right? Anyway, the reason you all like this music is because of the media. If you're not the least bit cynical about the impressions given to you by commercials, lifestyle mags and so on, you're gonna be brainwashed.
Let me give you an example:
I bet you don't like Britney Spears. You think you came up with that one yourself? Hah! It's a planted idea, from the big companies, directed at you Bizkit-loving headbangers. Some of Britney's music is really good, actually, and has nothing to do with her, and more to do with Max Martin and other producers.
Okay, I'm rambling, I know, but lighten up, guys, and try listening to some soul or funk!

First of all. Yes I do hate Britney Spears, but not from principile it's cause she cant sing for crap!!!!!!
Now let me explain something. Can I guess that U are from the USA??? I'm just huessing that cause I don't know many people from Europe that don't like metal or punk. Another thing ios that ur trying to tell us to open up and stop listening to headbang and so on. There is something to that. The thing u don't really understand that for many people including me and my friends punk and metal are something of a status. If ur not European u can't understand this. It's just a way that the music styles have evolved. Look i'm not realy a great fan of Limp Bizkit but some of their songs i like.
And let me bring up another point. When u said that if we keep listening to headbang and punk we'll get brainwashed. Please for once liten to the lyrics in punk my friend. Punk makes u see the world differently. It's not about brainwashing . And also ur saying that its' depresive? The truth is not alwaays bright. As a matter of fact it is mostly dark and sad. That we can't change. Again watch what u say.

I'm not american (and if I were american, I'd emigrate faster than you can say høyesterettsjustitiarius), I'm from Europe, and I know plenty of your kind. I never said to stop listening to metal and punk (just try to listen to something that's not played on the radio or on MTV for a change, you might find something you like), and I've never really dissed punk anyway (but if you're gonna listen to it, listen to the good punk, like Sex Pistols and the Police and so forth).
And you do hate Britney Spears. Why am I not surprised? Your reason? Cause she can't sing for crap! Let me ask you a question: Have you ever heard her live? I didn't think so. Are you a trained singer? Didn't think so. So upon what is your judgement of ms. Spears singing abilities based on? Nothing much, I'd say. You hate her because someone wants you to.
And sure, the world is full of crap, and our reality can be dark and hopeless, but whining about it and headbanging isn't going to change that, is it? The people I know who're listening to this kind of music aren't the most inclined to change the world for the better, as far as I can see.
If you want to change something, change it, don't whine about how bad it is.

Yeah, I also hate both of them. And I wish I was born 20 years earlier. Why? Because I began to LOVE Queen about 9 years after Freddie's death. And I would be soooo happy to go on a concert.

About being american lol. I'd do the same thing(no offence).Probably unlike u i have then unfortunate experience of staying in america(no offense). And yes Sex Pistols are good.
About Britney. Just listen to HER MY GOD!! She not only can't sing but and if that's not enough for you just listen to the stuff she sings about!!!!! Compare that to let's say Queen for example and u see who is great and who's not. And please don't tell me that u are a music expert and like her music.
Number two. Since currently and unfourtunately i'm in the U.S. whne i turn on MTV or the radio all I hear is rap and hip hop!!!! Look many of my friends here listen to rap and hip hop and i bear with it. I just don't like it. The lyrics please print your self out some of the, and read them!! Pointless!!!! What's it all about? No Idea. And when i say to people that i like metall and punk they look at me like some sort of a worm! Please don't tell me to listen to rap or hip hop! Just imagine trying to go somewhere there is music and all u hear is rap and hip hop! Outrageous. I have things to say that i can't express in english so thats all i shall say. For now.

But what Music of the gods is supposed to mean? Music which gods produced, or which is produced for the gods, or which resembles god, or which...?

Sir Dunco: I never told you to listen to rap or hip hop either! But if you judge Britney's singing by what you hear one her records, you can't say she can't sing! Cause on her records, she's in tune (whether because of Britney's singing abilities or modern altering equipment left unsaid). My point is that saying that Britney can't sing based on what you hear on her recorded music, is plainly and simply wrong. I am a musician, so I should know.
And although I do not like or conscent to many a rap lyric, just because you, a person not native to the english language, don't understand it, doesn't mean it's got no substance.
Examples here would be Public Enemy and Outkast.
These guys make every bit as much sense as your punk bands do. But if we're talking lyrics, try Steely Dan. It's easy to tell they're saying something, but what it is is anybody's guess (they even have lyrics interpretation sites).
I, myself, try to be open to all sorts of music, I try not to dislike it because of prejudice or what my friends say or (dis)like, I give every sort of music at least two shots.
But after significantly more than that, this post-grunge white man's depressive hiphoprockmetal really gives me nothing. There is so much greater music out there.
No offence, but I believe your dislike of certain types of music is based on some of the aforementioned elements, and that you haven't given that music a chance. I'm not saying I love all of Britney's music, not even that I like it, but some of the songs are catchy and thoroughly produced, and she looks allright too , so I see no point in crying wolf.
