If it's any comfort, the fight to capture that Necropolis was in my opinion the hardest fight on that map. Even with the Baron showing as "Low" and the castle's forces also showing "Low", I had to redo that fight a few times to win. Apparently, combined it comes up as "Deadly" or something, coupled with the enemy hidden behind walls.

Got around to continue and finish this map, you were right, that was the hardest battle, but I quickly ran there in the first week and captured the town. After that it was quite a simple map but still VERY long, I even managed to complete the secondary quest with the artifact.

On map 4, what is the point of Svyltanna in the very southeast?  The dialogue said something about her showing up as reinforcements, but whenever I got near her she'd attack!  There wasn't anything in my quest log related to it, and defeating wasn't necessary for the map.  Just curious..

She gets rid of the base of one of these annoying Inferno heroes with little to no army that keep pestering you. She also has a few lines of unfathomable wisdom when you kill Ahriban. That's pretty much it.

Yeah, but she's not supposed to attack you ...

That bug actually didn't happen to me. I'm starting to suspect that these are some easter eggs - they said that they will keep part of the randomness, so now we have, say, 50% chance to get a certain bug.

Beginning of map 3 is one of the most interesting maps from all campaigns. At least we are not completely overpowered and have to play carefully. But then after capturing all sanctuary towns, it becomes boring again to wait to develop secondary and visit powerups. Kilburn only managed to go to lv21 and that's because I waited to have Anton lv24 to hire a tavern hero and visit lvups with him, give him mentor and then Kilburn could earn xp from there.

Any tips for map 4? The Inferno town near Lord Haart is overwhelming me, did I wait too long to kill the Cyclopes? Or should I first go underground and defeat the orange player?

I'm not there yet but how many cyclops are there? My start is give only griffins to Anton and the rest with the moon disk (phoenixes) to Lord Kilburn. Anton captures town, Kilburn cleans the stacks in the way and takes ressources. You should be able to build griffins and celestials in first week (in my game celestials don't receive fortification bonus as in other campaigns). Kilburn is a very good hero (tears rank 1 and paladin) so use him as that . Second week, Anton goes to capture a village with 17 griffins. Kilburn clears area around town and opens other passages. Anton will fight vs an inferno hero with destructive spells bt with regeneration, dive, intimidation, heal, etc he should prevail withour losses. I captured a building with 20 enraged cyclops and centaurs with 30 griffins so that's why I asked how many of them there are. Don't trust the 'deadly' indicators of the game concerning neutral stacks (or even heroes).

edit: I forgot something very important. Anton is normally lv24 so it's very important to level him to 25 to gain access to the ultimate guardian that resurrects 28% of army. Also give him the sets of the guardian armor for more moral (around 50). If you find like me the elemental ring, give it to the same hero that has the moon disc (4 phoenixes instead of 3). Phoenixes are ideal to fight vs phoenixes too .

Someone has problems with the fourth mission? It's the easiest in the whole campaign, no joke! You are playing against the weakest faction in the game, controlled by a stupid AI, and your main task is to teleport between your towns so the Inferno heroes can't conquer them. Not that this is something dangerous, mind you, it's just tedious and prolongs the game unnecessarily. There isn't a single difficult fight on this map, including the battle against Ahriban.
So, you don't need Seraphs/Celestials at all. Hell, with some effort you can take all the Inferno heroes with only Cores and 1-2 Elites. All you need to do is to make a turtle at one of your two corners on the battle map and wait for the AI to come and lose all of its troops in a helpless assault. Praetorians at the front, Vestals and Sun Riders/Crusaders at their flanks, Marksmen at the back with Glories next to them. If you put the Griffins in the other corner, most of the melee troops of the opponent will rush for them. Then Guardian Angel + Heal on them while hitting with the Marksmen, the Sun Crusaders and the Glories and the enemy army is done for. If they attack the turtle for some reason, it's even faster and easier. You'll hardly ever lose more than 20% of your troops this way, even if the Inferno army is larger and their hero - higher level than Anton.

Well, celestials and griffins allow for zero casualties in all fights, meaning you finish the map in 2 months or less instead of 3 or more . I don't like the turtle formation at all, too many units can be killed at the same time and you need to resurrect them back. It's another way of playing anyway and it's the richness of a game to allow different ways to reach the goal. If you don't mind losing some units from time to time and to play defensively instead of agressively I don't say the turtle formation is not good enough, just not for me . It's anyone's right to play as he likes after all.

For the AI heroes, it's the first time I was impressed by some of them. Jeditte a lv 30 warlock with a set of selected skills very well chosen for the most part (not all). Scouting 2 in secondary heroes is very nice .

You are unlikely to lose any troops in 90% of the battles during this mission no matter what you do - except if it is something very very clumsy. The turtle just ensures that you will be able to overcome a more powerful force with minimum efforts.
By the way I don't know if the bosses grow more powerful with time but I rather doubt that you'll be able to kill this Ahriban which I fought in just 2 months. The guy was cutting down more than 15 Celestials with each strike.

People spoke of Uriel's fight being too difficult while it was very easy and winnable with minimal troops (one big stack of vamps is ok). If the boss is like the one we had in 1st inferno mission then it will be simple I think. No need for a whole army I guess, I'll see .

For now I just captured the 4th village (and converted) and it's beginning of week 5. Also had the reinforcements, so now just 2 AI heroes and soon no more on surface. Have to kill Jeditte again and again .

It really depends on combination each particular person play with, I reached Uriel with something like 30 Fate Weaver 90-100 elite and 200 ish ghoul / specter 500 ish skeleton and got abosalutely ownd, he carved up every unit I had in two hit. and I could barely dent him after about 10 rounds. (including using dance of decay on him.)  though I waited a couple weeks with a bigger army and then just blew him away with Liches and Fate Weavers in a couple rounds.

It's better if Anasthasia is tears so stoneskin the best defense unit it will reach +- 95 to 98 damage reduction. It's better if the unit is immaterial (specter, fate weaver or phoenix). Ghost is the best with 35% supplementary damage reduction. Anasthasia can have +- 1300 spell points so she doesn't run out of that with meditation. Don't move immaterial unit, wait until he comes or teleport and defend.

Well there's the problem, I didn't expect the final fight to be like that, so I didn't have stone skin but had weakness instead (figuring that it can reduce both magic and might dmg) oops

Boss units are immune to negative effects, list is in their description. Anyway just finished the Haven campaign and Arhiban was very easy too first day of week 7. Anton was nearly lv30 so the xp for final quest will level him anyway so it was Kilburn that defeated Arhiban . With guardian armor, 60+ morale, 1.2k sisters after reinfocements, 47 seraphs, 230 glories, etc. Lost only pretorians and marksman and some sun riders. Nice to play both sides of the castle and it made moral jump to lv4 very quickly. The fight can be won with lesser troops but problem is to save the troops inside...

Well NOW I know but I didn't build my hero up having pre-read the plot and knowning what's to come I thought it would be a big army fight at the end of something and figured that Weakness was more general purposed and besides your staff give you bonus for dark magics anyway.

Finally this is over, the final mission became a total drag. Thanks for the advice guys, they worked. It was disappointing that the Champion unit hardly gave any use, but I have to say Sun Crusaders rule!

I'm so glad we don't have a fixed campaign order because I'm so tired of Haven being the obligatory first campaign, this way it was good I could put it shove it in the middle, so there are still two more interesting campaigns left.

Also, I defeated Sveltana but I guess that's only needed if you want some XP? It was so weird that there was no dialog after her defeat yet she appeared after the boss fight...

Being able to fight her is a bug, actually. She's supposed to help you (by taking out one of the Infernal towns).

^She does help but it would have been simpler altogether to remove that town and not feature her because it's just silly.

Also, I haven't had that many fights against Necropolis but when I attacked her, during battle the town music played. Is that a bug or that's the music during Necropolis sieges?
