The general idea is to stack dwellings that give you the most cost effective units. So, like other said: glories and such.

You get 5k/day from tear, it only doesnt show in the overview. You get the gold.
Regarding strategy. I play this map like any other. Kill everything that is effective time wise to lvl up. In this time build whatever you can in whatever city you get and go kill your opponent before hes ready for you. That requires you to manage your resources in the way to build enough buildings and have enough leftover gold to buy out all the troops at the beginning of next week. To catch your opponent before next week troops arrive. Artifacts markets for everyone is cool feature but i barely used them in any of my games because aplying strategy above leaves you too short on gold for buying artifacts (it doesnt if you have some to sell tho).
I think most of the current maps (including this one)are very small and it is very easy to get to your opponent (unlike in previous parts). What i foind out is that if i waste 1 week walking around doing very little im gonna be in trouble.
