assigning sound files
Just a question about assigning sound files that I couldn't find the answer to this scanning the forums. It's easy to alter sounds through changing .82m files in the /data folder, but is it possible to change the sound file name that is already coded for each creature? For example, the Rogues (crogue.def) are assigned the sound file name "agrm____." The problem in the case of the Rogues is that they share their sound with the gremlin, and the same applies to many other creatures (the WoG creatures simply use sounds assigned to preexisting creatures).
Is there a way to bypass this? I've been working on an extensive mod that replaces all of the H3 creatures with ones from H2 as well as other creatures from the old MM games that I sprited/animated myself, and it'd be great if creatures didn't have to share the same sounds.
Thanks!

In exe. A table for SoD creatures is in memory at address 006703B8 and WoG Creatures table is at address 00787620. They contain structures as described in This thread of DF2 forum on second post by sergroj. This is relatively easy to understand however if you need any help, feel free to ask.
As for your mod, wouldn't it be better to contribute to the HoMM III:SW mod instead of starting another? The goal of HoMM III:SW seems similar to yours at the first sight.

solitaire,
I'm assuming this is a hex-editing solution. If so, could you explain the process I would need to,say, make it so that a creature returns an alternate set of 82m files? I looked at sergroj's post and I see the "soundname" part, but with all of the Russian, I'm really not sure where to start here.
As for my project, it's really just a personal little thing I'm developing and certainly will finish. I'm not an active member of this forum and don't really keep up with what others are doing, but if someone else is converting H2 graphics for H3, I'd be happy to share my work and tag along.
