Eador. Masters of the Broken World - a dreamlike TBS
So there's this game called `Eador. Masters of the Broken World` – a TBS now in the making that’s going to be released this fall. If you haven't heard of it here are some previews based on last year's gamescom presentation:
http://www.destructoid.com/preview-masters-of-the-broken-world-209470.phtml
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/20/masters-of-the-broken-world-preview/
Basically it's a hardcore TBS game that takes inspiration from many old strategy titles and series and turns it into something both very addictive and challenging. And it's doing some very innovative things in the genre too. Especially when you see how not very far Heroes series went with its latest installment.
I played the original game so I know what I'm talking about. It truly is remarkable tbs and I can't wait for this refined and polished version. If you have any questions about the game feel free to ask me.
And can someone edit the thread's name please?

I just wanted to share some information about the project with Heroes community and see what you think about it. If you're not interested I'll stop. I promise
The original game came out in 2009 in Russia only. It was made by one man and looked quite ugly because of that. Still it got high ranks in press and got some nice reception from oldschool gamers. You could play it for hours even with these graphics. Though I can't play it anymore, my eyes hurt too much. Check it out.

sorry Dariol, sometimes one can't easily see whether a new poster is a real poster or not
I have read a little bit about the upcoming game which others like Quantomas have mentioned & my main question is how close is it to an old game called Master of Magic? else which game is it closest to?
Will games start with the map randomly generated like Master of Magic?
And will it be released worldwide in stores?
[And those screenshots don't look ugly at all, fine by me but I'm more interested in strategy]

I’d say it’s the closest to Master of Magic because it’s the original creator’s favorite game. The other games close to Eador I’d say are Age of Wonders, Heroes, Europa Universalis and Civilization series in pretty much the same proportion.
When you enter a shard its landscape generates randomly. There are three “layers” the game takes place in: astral map, strategic map and tactical battles with hexagons. And the strategic map is the one that’s generated randomly each time. Here they are:

It will definitely be released on Steam (they say beta test will be held there too). And as for retail I doubt it’ll go worldwide. Most probably it'll sell only in Russia and selective European countries.

Snowbird made a post about how they handled city screen in Eador on their facebook page.
«One of the most important interface elements in a turn-based strategy game is the city screen. It might seem like a mere picture – no special visualization is necessary to show the city construction and the upgrade options to the player. However, the city screen is something larger than a mere menu. It’s a visual representation of the player’s progress and the results of his creative work. The city screen is a meter of the game’s progress – as the player advances through the campaign, his citadel grows and becomes prettier.
With Masters of the Broken Worlds city screen we faced a huge issue: there are 170 buildings (more than in Civilization V!) available for construction in the game – is it even possible to fit them all within the city walls?»
You can read more on this here.

Discuss? Personally I like it but I'd like to see how the city looks with more buildings in it.

Good points.
The game itself looks like Age of Wonders, which is good in my book - but the city screen from Heroes was one of the features I missed. Still can't believe they didn't include it in H6.

well thanks for that info & at least it's not isometric. Hope it does well enough to get into bigger markets eventually.

Yeah, I hope so. It totally deserves it. They posted a piece of in-game music: http://soundcloud.com/lekken-1/legends-of-whispering-forest2

It's quite generic until the middle of the track but gets better after that.
Tha game looks quite promising as a whole, hopefully we'll see it on the international market.

If it was a scenario-based strategy game, essentially a sandbox like HOMM, I don't think he would make such a big fuss about Eador being non-linear. Or about karma.

Hello, guys. I came back to deliver a load of information on this upcoming gem.
Here's the video trailer. It doesn't show much of the game process but it has nice visuals. I like it. What do you think?
