Need help with HOMM III+IV Complete question about saved games.
I recently purchased HOMM III+IV Complete and I will be buying a new computer soon so I wanted to transfer my saved games to the new computer so when I went to look for my saved games I went to the through the following path C:\Program Files\3DO\Heroes 3 Complete\games and nothing was there. I then decided to find a some saved games online to see if I could transfer information that way.
That is how I found this website and downloaded the following
COMPLETED CAMPAIGNS CHEAT
This savegame file will allow you to play any of the seven campaigns. Save this file into the "games" folder inside the Heroes 3 folder. Then start up the game, click Load Game, Campaign Game and select "Campaigns Completed".
Funny enough it told me to save into the same folder as this C:\Program Files\3DO\Heroes 3 Complete\games which I had used above to find my saved games. So now the only thing in that folder is the campaigns completed.CGM file and I can't see any of my other saved games. However, I am able to load the campaigns completed file during game play which has a completed game file for HOMMIII but not it's expansions.
So if someone can either help me find a completed save game filed for HOMM III's expansion also or if someone can tell me how I can find my saved games I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

I had exactly the same problem, couldn't find my H3 saved games in any logical location so I did a search on C: for .gm1 and found them. They were in c:\Users\User\AppData\Local\VitualStore\Program Files\3DO\Heroes3Complete\games. True! It's almost as if they don't want you to find them.
Another way to track down the location of a save game file if you are not sure of the extension is to save a game with a unique name and then search for that name.

When using Vista or Windows 7, to have your games saved in the normal "Games" file in the HOMM III directory, you need to do this:
Right click the Heroes3 startup icon.
Click "Properties."
Click the "Compatibility" tab.
Click "Change settings for all users."
Click "Run this program as an administrator."
