I believe that was explained in the campaign's story, but I can't be the only person who wanted to see the demons and the warlocks team up, mostly for the choice of black dragons or devils.
It was explained in the story. The explanation was kind of lame, and it was specific to gauldoth, so the part where it carried on outside the campaign made no sense at all.

I don't particularly like the necropolis, starts off ok, but spirals into something odd and comical.
-Haven was lovely, felt like a seed taking root and sprouting, id est birth of a dynasty.
-Inferno is my favourite, only because I simply adore Dark Messiah, and its intro. (but seems a tad-bit lazy, since nothing was added)
-The stronghold theme when I listened to it, began off as a little dwarven, then as it went on to the flute it felt really 'elven' (throughout).  It was lovely, but too serene, and it doesn't come close to embody the brutish nature of orcs.
-And Sanctuary has a nice Asian theme, nothing really sticks out 'till 1:18 where it takes on a more 'heroesey' background.

My sister remarked that the odd and comical part, as you call it, resembled a little Jack's strange Christmas music. Which would make it thematic to undead. It's the first part I don't like much.

Digging this little thread up because I finally got the expansion, so I did the new (and last) one : Dungeon!

Good job  I find that theme very fitting for dungeon. The town is also very beautiful, a shame it only comes in shades of purple.

Town's pretty, aye, but I dunno about the music. It's good, but maybe a little... I dunno... tame? There's the shadows, but not this lust for magical power. The whole (magic) power hungry side needed a little more expression I thought.
I'll add that it's a pretty damn long theme. For most of the other 5, if I remember correctly, it had looped after the 2 minutes of the video. This one's the longest with 2:40 or so, and it still hasn't looped yet. Its got a slow pace.

I wish all the town screens were as nice, I'm much more impressed with this than the previous "enhancements". The glow being off on the Sanctuary town hall kills me - like cheap flash animation.

You can't really tell. I'm referring to the left side of the town hall when you hover over it.
Edit: Actually, look @ 0:17~0:19.
...poorly cut layers and cheap flash animation.
I haven't been able to play H6 since I first saw that, and the black "loading" town screen. Just so cheap.
The town windows were fine, game-play was smooth. Devs wasted time and created more bugs.

I have the same reaction from the screenshots - too much purple.
I wish Ubisoft reconsider the color affinity of each faction, right now it's too much for my taste

The only really worthy of listening theme in the game (for me at least) is probably the Sanctuary theme, but only because it's truly new.
