Guild Wars 2
Hi guys!
I am sort of surprised that there is no GW2 thread considering it seems pretty famous and will be released soon. I just want to know if there is anyone else here interested in the game and warn about that the pre-purchase bonus only has one and a half day left.
I tried the first GW a bit but never really got into it but GW2 seems pretty cool so I recommend curious people to check out the website for the game.

I have the game preordered but I'm going to miss the early access.
I haven't posted about it more on this forum because I belong to Clan DA, which is a dedicated Guild Wars 2 clan, and talk about it more there. It's a small group of older people who enjoy the game and mature discussion. Hell, at 30 I wager I'm the youngest if not the youngest member of the group.

I am planning on buying it, too. Was once also very surprised why there's no thread about it here, but i never got to making one either 
Actually it'll be my first online only pc-game i ever played (not counting 10 days trial of WoW some years ago).

Not a big fan of MMO myself... I hate to rely on others in carnage 
But, my friend, ex-WoW addict, has spoken about this game in superlatives only.
So I'd risk saying it's good.

Very cheap indeed... At least compared to WoW.
GW2 could very well be the best MMO out there that is not crazy expensive. Never tried WoW before (my wallet thanks me) so I can not compare the two but I found ToR to be amazing but just not worth the money unlike GW2. GW2 have also been extremely improved compared to the first GW.

there are still some annoying bugs that need resolving, the most pressing is that entering an instance as a 5 man team on PvE is a borderline miracle.
as for how good the game is I'll just say that me and Azagal who are dedicated LoL fanatics haven't touched it for over 3 weeks.
and I'm just starting to get around the PvP arenas (which you can do from lvl1)

Every copy is cheap. And with that I dont mean made with not so many money. It's cheap because its a copy. And seems GW2 is a copy.

Maybe...you know, actually look into the game instead of saying "ohhh it's a copy!" on the first glance?

Yes, that's like comparing King's Bounty to Heroes. Of course these games have same type of features, just like any MMO. Nowadays you pretty much can't make 100% original games.

Well, WoW is a copy of Everquest and Warcraft is a complete ripoff copy of Warhammer, so I guess it's just as cheap.

I guess now I understand Blizzard's overzealous account protection, i.e. I can only log on from my computer, any attempts to log on from another machine result in locking the account(you have to change your password for the account to be active again), but then again, we've found a way to bypass it.
In my opinion NCsoft should have taken some precautions to prevent account hacking. failure to protect valuable player info is a major flaw.
As for the game itself, haven't tried it, but seen several gameplay vids and reviews. seems pretty decent.

It's good and there is a lot of stuff to do. The classes are fun and the world, for the most part, is interesting to play through. The community is fairly mature, which is a plus. The organic grouping is nice and you don't have to worry about kill-stealing.
Be forewarned, the end game is a bit weak at the moment. Bots, tedious dungeons, and crafting are what await you at the end game.
Bots plague the end game. They easily outnumber the players in the end zones. Speaking of the end zones, they are fairly uninteresting compared to the rest of the game. There are also a LOT of bugged missions in the end game. It often feels like they didn't even bother testing the end game. For example, you do a mission to get a skill point. Unfortunately, the person you need to start the mission is invisible, thus rendering the mission unplayable. It is an easy mistake to correct yet it remains.
You can run dungeons but they are a pain to get through. "Hard" to Arena Net is inflating hitpoints and damage of the mobs. It's not difficult so much as cheap. You get about 30-60 tokens for completing one. It costs about 180-240 tokens to buy a single piece of exotic gear. The tokens are specific to the dungeon as well. Even better, diminishing returns are implemented to keep people from farming dungeons. Still better is that my dungeon tokens were ripped off.
Crafting is just a waste of time for the most part, with the most useful disciplines being jewelry and cooking. The rest of the skills require way too much time and money to be useful and you can find way better gear than what they offer with the exception of legendary weapons. Legendary weapons are NOTHING but a time and money sink and have crazy requirements.
I'd read some more reviews and watch some videos before committing.

^So, if this is true, and these issues aren't fixed, it's another half baked piece of crap. and looked so promising in the beginning. But as I haven't tried it out, I cannot be so sure.
On the other note, I've tried out Mists of Pandaria the other day. only did the questing part, but in the evening it was getting hard, as players were basically commiting genocide on the local wildlife. other than that it's quite a quality expansion, but then again I haven't explored all it's new features yet.
Most companies need to learn from Blizzard and deliver the final product, not the bug filled half baked piece of crap we receive from other MMO devs. Warhammer online is the finest example of this.
