Correcting Sagamosa's bug

In my opinion Sagamosa is one of the best MODs, but, as many should know, it have a lot of bugs. I am trying to correct them all(at least the most problematic)

Some bugs I have already corrected:

Cleric

1-Impatience - If you fight a computer and it chooses "wait" it will not move and a message will appear in the screen something like: "You may not choose wait".
R:Now the computer will choose defend instead of wait, but if you are human (and your enemy have impatience) and you choose wait, it will be as you have choosed defend.


Knight

2-You cannot choose your Squire. They are always beyond the maximum level.
R:Now you can choose any squire until level 5.

Heretic

3-Heretic have many problems. Until know I have only corrected the "Devil's Help" one ability that permit you to build a town. The town was not being built despite a construction site wich appears when you use it.
R:It works, but the city will be built in only 1 day not 2.

Death Knight

4-The problem is with the power "soul bind". Some times when you kill an enemy your ghost appear out of the battle grid in these case the game may crash.
R:I didn't completely corrected this bug, but the chance of the ghost appear out of the grid is very low now.

My version of Sagamosa with the bugs I mentioned corrected:

This version have also corrected this bug:

When you enter a witch hunt you may loose magic skill if you are a might hero.
R:It will works normaly


This version also altered some things to make the game more balanced:

1-Many mithrill costs have been lowered.
2-The first ability of the demonic "Urgash Call" have been replaced by the ability "Word of command" of the necromancer. The Urgash Call was not working.
3-The "fly" ability of the planeswalker was replaced by the ability "concentration" of the Witch. You may choose any first level ability as the witch. Ironicaly you may choose fly. If you want a more balanced game play don't do it.
4-The ability to pass thought the forests of the Druid was replaced by the ability of make Rune stones of the Wizard

if i remember right, when you play ranger you got some sort of diplomacy skill and your visions spell is gone. anyway that feature caused errors 90% of the time.

No idea, it compares small txt files but when sagamosa.erm x 2, even converted to txt just crashes, drwtsn32 problem. Maybe memory, I don't know.

There is another problem with astral hero of tower. Beyond level 11 he can not fight with anyone without game crashing. After level 11 when begin a fight with a creatures or hero the game crash without enter into the battlefield.

Felippe did you include my fixes?
I once fixed one bug: Heroes which are starting above 1st level without beeing owned (such as prison heroes or tavern unbought ones) when start beeing owned have Sagamosa's level variable set to 1 which makes them get ALs too late (after 4 levels first AL instead of first AL at level 5 )

Mod documentation say it were planned for 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th (and 25th for heroes with Benediction) to get AL so it were a bug and it was relatively easy to fix either by using goto (were it SN:G ? i don't remember now) or splitting some function into two and doing a loop until it will match actual level (I mention modyfing the level-up function)
PS: Separate from main level-up function there were secondary one for +1SP +1ballista and +1commander (things happening every level if some skill possesed) so they have to be patched too.

PPS: without the bug fixed finding 25 leveled hero in prison is useless (because he have no ALs and will get first at 29th level)

footnote: IDK if file I posted on forums is still hosted and I suppose to not have a backup but you can easily redo the fix if anything of two hapens

Astral hero? Do you mean the Wizard? I don't know any bug with the Tower's heroes.

check if it still works - use any mirror you want

it's patched version of first Bersy-published version of the mod, so you have to compare files to integrate changes (I believe it was script only package to install over mod)

I posted the link on era-bugfix-thread - how could you miss the thread if you want fixing bugs in scripts


PS: of course changes are mine but script belong to sagamosa and Bersy (sagamosa for oryginal Bersy for ERAifing)

EDIT: Winmerge crashes? What a pity! Use Kdiff3 (it's bad at merging but good at viewing/searching changes/diferences)

I could mention that games always crashed after some error screen when I right-clicked on monster. It tried to ask me if if want bribe a monster with 10 mithril to join me - soothe skill for ranger.

Last update

1 - Soothe (advanced skill ranger lvl 20) Bug corrected
2 - Some images that were misplaced after I have changed some advanced skills are corrected
2- The cleric impatience still have some problems. Now it is corrected.


And also:
In the Sagamosa original the Alchemist have rogue advanced level skills. I always hate that, so I am changing all his advanced level skills to new ones more related to his class.

1 - The first new advanced level skill of the Alchemist is "Artificer" - as an alchemist he can make better weapons to his troops. The Alchemist will have +2 atk +2 def at combat for each 5 lvls.

2 - The advanced skill lvl 15 assassinate was replaced by herbalism - the alchemist may create potions as the witch lvl 15

PS: I will release a version with only the bugs corrected and none modification, but only after everything is ready. I think the original Sagamosa is to much unbalanced, but don't worry.

I have just tried this mod these days and it quickly turns into one of my absolute favorite mods, feel like a brand new game again, kudos to the creators and you Felipe as well for the all of efforts making this mod, here are some of my reports and suggestions:

_ Star Magic: The Loop seems to some troubles against AI. It functions perfectly and doesn't crash or anything, but apparently when the AI can't move due to the effect of Loop, instead of going wait or defend they keep trying to move and move again which creates a loop themselves (kinda similar to Impatience issue?).

_ Star Magic: Missile Shield not only affect for one battles, but multiple ones as well, making it possible for you entire army to become immune to Range Attacks.

_ Lots and lots of imbalances, some skills feel so weak compared to others: Back Stab (for a town that is full of rangers and Naga who already has No Retaliation); Master of Fire (was expecting to get full fire spells with stronger and extra effects, but no); Dark Ritual (sacrifice a whole day + creatures to get mana is just horrible, your own town also has the Double Mana Spring just makes it worse), some summon skills like Balrog (cast Armageddon + a spell = useless after that) and lots more. While some others are completely broken, like Spell Forge being able to create Mass Blind/Berserk is a major example here. While I know that WoG is already imbalance I would really appreciate if someone can fix these skills a bit. It feels like I am forced to play some certain class of Heroes because of their skill set rather than their specialties and such.

_ Is it possible to learn whatever skills like the Witch 1st skill but this time 2nd, 3rd and 4th level skills as well?! Sometime I would like to have multiple 1st level skill as well (Master Power + Irresistible Magic + Incantare = wreck). This creates more combinations, strategies, and erase the former issue that you have to go with certain class of Heroes.

The star magic is too strong. I will work on it to reduce itīs powers in some way. Thanks for the report. I have already noticed the missile shield problem, but I didnīt have problems with the loop so far. I will check it too.

As about the imbalance I am changing some advanced skills wich were too strong ("fly" is an example) as I have reported, but I donīt intend to make it possible to learn any advanced skill at levels 1,2,3,4... I like them being specifely specifically from one town.
