Comig back to H3 after a long break
Last time I've really played was before H5.
I want to start again but the sheer number of mods are overwhelming. I need some help to find some good mods without spending days reading and trying stuff. (I've already taken a look at the stickies but I'm still confused).
First to get me started:
- Era II or WoG? Is Era II a replacement for WoG? What are the main differences?
- I think I want HotA. As a last resort I will settle for russian but I cannot believe that after 1 year there is no translation. Can someone point me to it.
- I need HD mod.
- I like the new interface mod.
- I like some of the town UI remakes... Are there some that come without any gameplay changes? (I am interested only in the graphics)
- What new factions/towns are good?
In the long run:
- What other good mods are there?

1- Definitely Era, Era contains Wog and much more. Also its Wog is much more bugless and improved (or you can install the original Wog scripts as a mod if you prefer. The thing is, Era 2 has everything as an optional mod you can switch on/off with a single click. It really is the future of Heroes 3.)
2- English HotA is about to come in a few months afaik.
3- HD mod
4- After you install Era on clean H3, pick and install mods (including original interface)from here:

Ok so ERA is the way to go...
Now what do people play these days? What is popular? Commanders? What kind of seeds for RMG? What maps (no campaigns).

Just for fun, there is this great mod called EMPIRE of the WORLD IV. I m not going into too much detail, you will find out everything about it on your own, however, you need to make a copy of your heroes3+era+HD(every1 plays on HD these days) folder and install the Empire mod in there, it doesn't want anything else to be present, I tried that way and it didn t work correctly.
I'm not actually too keen on this mod scene, I still like playing original Homm3 with popular templates like Blockbuster/Balance/Jebus etc
(Playing too much mods at once kind of starts spoiling you  )

What do you mean? i too have it and when i disable it with mod manager everything goes back to normal. You do use the mod manager right? Anyone else having this problem?

In your Era folder there is a Era Start Menu, open it and you'll see. Also you can look for it in the Tools folder.

Yes yes, my bad, I didn't know about the mods' manager ^^. You can safely install everything to the same copy of Heroes install and then use the mod manager to disable other mods you might have on enabled.
You can find the mod manager in YourHeroesFolder-> Tools -> Era Start menu -> Start.exe , from there you can see the mod manager right away ^^

A good rmg template for 2 advanced players (I am thinking something like 2sm4d3)
Some videos of PRO players playing SoD. (english cometary is a plus)

I also have troubles getting the extra army management buttons from HD mod...
here teh relevant .ini file excrept...

Buttons only exist in classic heroes 3. Incompatible with wog, some error about stack experience.

I have watched some Heroes3 commented videos, but they are in Russian - that was some time ago now, in twitch.tv I believe, or mayhaps Youtube.
If you can speak Russian like me ^^ then good for you otherwise I , atleast, haven't seen any English ones around
A good template would be Balance or Blockbuster - personally I love Blockbuster and Jebus - jebus is rich as, a fun template to play ^^
