Wow this will make the game alot more interesting, I will definitely try this out whenever the A.I mod becomes compatible, oh and by the way do you know if just certain scripts aren't working, if some work and some don't you could make a custom version for the A.I mod until then?

How about adding achievements to game ?

Would it possible ? I guess if you are so talented to add zones that adding achievement system wont be so difficult.

Actually, I left the mod one and a half year ago for several reasons. Nowadays however, I may be continue it, but first I have to rewrite the most part of the script (again...) because it's really messy. :S

I'm not really interested in achievements in any game, however I planned to write a quest generation script, to create some minor secondary quests in-game.

Well, I don't know what source code Quantomas is using, but I think it's neither for v3.1, nor for v3.0, because as I remember, I've tested EE one and a half year ago, and some script functions didn't work, that should be with v3.0. So a "custom version" would be pointless, especially, because reanimation mod without my "talkbox menu system" (talkbox was implemented in v3.1) is completely unmanageable, what was in the first version of the script, that I didn't release (nor the 2nd and the 3rd form of the script). The only reason why this mod could born is, because Nival loaded v3.1 with a bunch of useful script functions, without them the maximum that anyone can do by lua is what FrostyMuadDib did in his Town Portal mod. That is why the mod only supports v3.1, not because I don't want the players to play with "vanilla tote". :S
Ironically, the current and the future content of my mod is best with huge/impossible maps, that the original AI cannot handle...

OMG a mod that fixes the Town Gate issue ... most important H5 mod ever!!! I need to re-install H5 and try this if I ever get my PC back to life (which, unfortunately, doesn't look too promising) - just a question, is this mod modular, i.e. can one run for instance the Town Portal part only if one does not want town conversion etc.?

Yes, it's modular, but you have to use a custom configuration file for that, "rea_config3.h5u" is for Town Gate only. Also you can write your own config file for the mod, for example, if you don't like the default requirements of the Town Gate function.

I tried to play with only the parts you mentioned, but I got a CTD each time after about 10 turns of play or so. Also I found the setup very confusing, I tried to run only with the Town Portal part, but it started asking me about different modes of dividing map into regions which I didn't understand.

Do you using any other mod? If yes, can you tell me which one, so I can check it? The mod may not compatible with it. Also can you tell the name of the map, or is it an RMG map? Maybe the mod doesn't work with heavily scripted maps, however it should be. Furthermore, can you upload somewhere a savegame, with the map, if it's a custom map, or send me to prome7heus7@aol.co.uk, so I could try figure out the problem.

Well, the script contains 3 different Town Gate methods, and the default one teleports the hero from a town's area/zone to a selected town. So, the area creation process is not just for the "area of control" thing, but also for Town Gate as well. Otherwise, you can ignore it, and play without them, but in this case, your hero has to be at a town to use the function/"spell". Also, there is a third mode, which teleports the hero from a random location, however, to use it you have to change the configuration file.

I do use some other mods yes, but all of them are interface or XML mods, so nothing that should interfere with LUA scripts.

I don't have a save sorry. I was playing a custom map, fiur's Dragon Hill, and while the map is fairly elaborate, I don't think there are any scripts on it like events or anything.

How big and complicated are the changes that needs to be made to the configuration files if I want to run the townportal part alone? Basically what I would like is just something similar to H3 Town Portal, i.e. cast spell -> choose town -> go to destination. I'm ok with movement being eaten by the spell.

I've downloaded the tote version of that map from http://maps4heroes.com/, and I played on it (of course on easy with quick combat) with rea_config3.h5u until the 4th day of the 3rd week, and I didn't get any crash, so I really can't tell what is causing it for you. I think XML mods can cause promblems to the Town Conversion part of the script in extreme cases, however I'm not sure about it, and probably can't affect the Town Gate function.

Technically, if you are using the Town Gate config (rea_config3.h5u), then the game loads the following files: rea_preloader.lua, rea_loader.lua (contains paths to text files, etc. for the mod, the menu system, and team setup), rea_core.lua (contains the basic stuff for the mod), rea_town_gate.lua, rea_default_config.lua and rea_effects.lua

and excludes them: rea_town_conversion.lua, rea_dwelling_conversion.lua, rea_areas.lua, rea_area_of_control.lua

If you are chosing mode 2 or mode 3 at the area message, the game loads rea_areas.lua as well. It is not really possible to load less files than that for the Town Gate function.

You have to change reaTownGateMode from 2 to 3 in rea_config3.lua, for example, but you can check "Manual_for_config_files.pdf" in the Manuals folder (you will need the "Full Package" from the first post). Maybe it won't be "crystal-clear", because english is not my main language, but I hope you will understand it, however, if the game keeps freezing for you, then it's pointless I guess.

I can advise two things: try FrostyMuadDib's Town Portal Mod

or move every mod and map from your data/UserMODs/Maps folders to somewhere and then try the mod only with 1 map in your Maps folder.

I don't have any problems with this. I used All Campaigns, Dungeon and Fortress Magic Schools swaps, text fix, and Skillwheel. Try only with core files.
