See what I mean Sal, bringing in other mods only complicated things and made him delete the original Pac.

Lebyra, do not move anything unless it's a HPL or HPS pcx file, everything is there for a reason.

Okay, replace the original pac file with this, the location of the original pac file is Mods/Heroes Renovated/Data

Heroes Renovated.pac

This is basically the same pac file with PCX files added, so remove all separate PCX files from Data folder like you did before. Tell me if it works.

Well, putting all the pcx files in the pac file resolved everything, but after that, I didn't have the choice but to delete the pcx files "outside" the .pac, otherwise the game still crashed.

It seems that, if the program have the choice, it will look first for pcx files outside the .pac and if it doesn't find any, it will look inside the .pac

It's now clear that Win8 can't read correctly the pcx file. I'll compare this theory with the Vallex Mod : I'll extract the pcx files and try to make them run outside the .pac

I keep you updated later

You were supposed to do that anyway. Once they're inside the pac file you wont need the PCX files anywhere else. Problem solved then. I guess I'll update the mod in a couple of days making it compatible with Win 8.

Thanks for your answer.

Once the pcx are in the .pac file, the Mod runs fine.

For general information : If I run Vallex Portraits MOD and Heroes Renovated at the same time, the heroes pictures unchanged by HR MOD shows according to Vallex MOD, but if there's a new picture for a hero (ex: Mephala), the picture in HR MOD prevails.

Can you verify something for me? When I try to extract a pcx file with MMArchive, the file extract itself as a .bmp file instead of .pcx

If I rename the extension, it ruins the file. I tried this on both computers (the one with Win8 and the other with Win7).

In Mods Manager the mods that are on the top has priority. So if you move HR above Vallex Portraits, it will overwrite it. Of course it makes no sense to enable them both at once. Vallex portraits are designed for standard heroes and some characters wont match.
