Defenders Quest

Just recently I came a across an Indie game called Defenders Quest: Valley of the Forgotten.

DQ is a unique splicing of a Tower Defense type game along with a RPG.  The two are blended very well with a great story, check out the intro I have quoted below.

"My name is Azra.
I am dying.
They don't wait.
There's not even time to burn the bodies anymore.
Just take them outside of the city...
and throw them in the Pit."

Well you can just imagine how eager it made me to play the rest of the game.  Luckily there is a browser base demo of the game that covers quite a bit of the game, first 3 chapters.  It took me 8-9 hours to finish the demo the first time.

The game costs only $15 to buy as well.  Also all the progress you make in the demo can be exported so that you can continue right where you left off the rest of the game in the full version.

Here are 2 links to the demo so you can try for yourself.

Please try out such a great game and help support indie projects like this.

Check out the game trailer below.

Well I now have the full version of this game and I am doing quite well.  Actually already finished the game first time through.

I have also been doing this on the super hard mode of not hiring any extra, or generic, units.  Only using the units provided by the game, which is 1 of each class Berserker, Ranger, Healer, Ice Mage, Knight and Dragon.  This is classed as the "Heroic" mode and can be tough since you have to place the units for optimum use most times.

Ranking the classes is sometimes tough but to me they would be ranked in the following order.

1 - RANGER - Can cover so many entrances from far away and rarely do the monsters get by her arrow storm of death.

2 - Ice Mage - She has also won me some maps purely by herself.  She is really good with crowd control.

3 - Berserker - Super fast damage dealer to guys with light to no armor.  Has a better attack radius than the Knight and deals damage a lot quicker.  Knight is only better for High Armor targets and/or single very strong units/bosses

4 - Healer - couple units in game auto evade 75% of attacks.  This guy brings that way down and also blinds enemies so they have trouble hitting your guys.  Also useful for healing your guys ofc.

5 - Dragon - It's odd that Dragons are not as useful as I would have imagined.  Perhaps it's because they have both 2 Ranged attacks and the rest are all in melee range.  For distance I love them as they can inflict Burn which really does damage over time although it's sometimes bad because it can undo Ice Mages freezing/slowing.

6 - KNIGHT - Now the Knight IS a very nescesary unit to have as he can actually BREAK enemies armor and there are certain bosses that start the round with no real possible way to damage them until this has been done, their armor is literally in the thousands.  Armor breaking for very high amounts takes a while as well.

Remember just because Dragon and Knights are ranked lower does not mean they are NOT useful just not as useful as the rest in 90% of the cases.
