nop! i m with you on that one!
gameplay-wise they are ok
but most of units are just ridiculous i think

kuzu-muzu, kakali-warrior, snow/water/ice/blizzard/aqua/rain-maiden, fish-warrior, etc.

I am not really a fan of Sanctuary, but you can simplify every single faction like that.

Seriously, they got some pretty nice creatures, like the Kirin and Kenshin. But I simply can't see Yetis... wtf are those doing in sanctuary?! Or medusas... weren't those from Dungeon?

If I were to add anything to their line-up my first pick would definetly be a bamboo wielding panda. That would make alot more sense imo...

Coral priestesses are not medusae, they are nagas. The smallest species of them with kensei being the largest and more serpent-like. That said, the priestesses who worship the destructive aspect of Shalassa(water) are known as medusae.. That's pretty lame as far as I'm concerned.

But panda warriors? That would be even more lame On top of being a total rip off.

If their female, half snake, with a bow and snakes on their heads it's a medusa, no matter who what says.

So yetis are more fit than pandas for sanctuary?! Who cares about originality, there's not 1 original creature in this whole game. They're all either compiled of various animals body parts or they're stolen from some mythology. Not even the elements are original, you just make a fire or some dirt look alive. And the dragon gods?! Come on... When it comes to imagination humans look to nature, they don't invent anything new, they just revamp what is already there.

Dragons are universal, bamboo-wielding-pandas are warcraft.

Man, they can use Heroes 1 troops as long as the game is balanced and replayable!

Sanctuary isn't boring at all. As I've already mentioned, it can be made more absorbing by introducing a Sanctuary sub-faction of those, who worship the destructive aspect of Shalassa (I mean some troops of old Fortress plus several Sanctuary creature types).

Sanctuary isn't boring, but every time a character opens its mouth, it ruins it for me.
That goes for every faction BTW.

The fact that they have 2 water spirits in the same tier and one of those shares their model with water elemental (I think) doesn't help at all.

Personally I don't find Sanctuary very interesting, but I can live with them...

+1.

First of all, it's the theme. Sancutary is japanese-themed while Nagas are from the Indian/S.E. Asian mythology. Or, to be clear, Heroes 3 Nagas are like Indian Mythology ones, Heroes VI kirin is shaped like Naga, the dragon which, according to SE Asian mythology, lives in River Mekong.

Second, the choice of units is poor, as well as their design. Naga males wielding katanas, maori shark warriors, medusas count as naga sorceresses and there are like two kinds of the same units(maidens) NO!!!

I think a decent sanctuary faction would need mythic creatures from all around the world.
Level 1:Naiad->Oceanid(Like Cove from Heroes III)
Level 2irate->Captain(Sea Elves need to appear somewhere)
Level 3:Water Spirit->River Dragon(Like a small non-flying Asian dragon)
Level 4:Naga Princess->Naga Queen(Like Heroes 3)
Level 5:Scylla(6 heads)->Hydra(9 heads+regenerating special ability)
Level 6:Cetus(slightly similiar to Heroes IV sea monster)
Level 7:Jormungandr either Kraken from Norse mythology

The problem with the Naga faction is much deeper than just it's lineup. The problem is that the faction is one dimensional. It's "Asian" and kind of watery and then there is nothing else to it. The result is that it just becomes one big stereotype.

On that note I am curious as to how many copies of heroes six were sold to Japan and China.

I do not understand the above. You could make a similar statement about haven, the dwarves, elves etc.

That's just a mashup of random units related to the ocean, no unity at all... I liked H6's Sanctuary, the Coral Priestess and Water Spirit thing was bad but otherwise the units were cool, with a bit more variety Sanctuary could be a great faction.

You could, and to be honest that's part of the reason Ubisoft has its work cut out of it.

A good faction is like a good character in that it has depth, and contradictions to sort out. In fact weakness should be built in so the player has to think about how to overcome them.

You must be sick of hearing complaints, so here are some good things.

Having played the heroes six demo I do enjoy that the naga faction has some sophistication to its fighting style. Moreover, I enjoyed that sometimes the Naga can do a lot of damage by not making a move. I used to use Kirins, to bring my troops to the enemy just so I could have them wait.

Furthermore, story wise, the other factions were not totally devoid of depth. The Haven faction for instance must square its desire to be pious with the harsh realities of maintaining an unruly empire that is often under siege. Granted this has been done many times before in other stories, but at least it's a start.

That's kind of the problem with the factions now Ubisoft has taken over.
