Anyone up for a PBEM playthrough of "Fountain of Doom"?
Been struggling with this map for some days now!
Maybe someone else has?
I'm thinkink we play 1 week each or such and send game to each other with ideas on how to proceed?
Looking for 1-2 people
Only rules I'd like is no Necro-skeleton strategy because it is a little bit boring IMO.
Here's the link to the map:

Feel free to discuss the map here too.
I'm playing on Hard atm.

omg...I'm about to beat this map. I tried everything before I tried this, because it is OP...but Necro -_- and skeleton hoarding and both me and blue are necros.
Just survived an attack and then sieged a city. Barely got an army left except for some ghost dragons, vampires and 3630 skeletons ^^
This map is really unfair Biggest thing that bugs me is endless mana for the enemy and almost endless amounts of experience. They get this by walking back and forth at their gates...kinda lame.
Still though the AI doesn't seem aware of it and so they don't do it too often.
I've tried this map the whole week. Finally finally
I've even had terrible luck with skills. I've got Expert Luck and Ballistics on a hero with Expert Earth, Earthquake and on a map full of lucky-land and she has a lucky artifact xD
Does anyone know if Pink can escape his Island? When does he do that?

Well basically beat this now. Done with HoMM for these couple of months then I guess. Pitty nobody wanted to join but it got a few views so I thought I'd update a bit.
I destroyed purples and blues main heroes and I doubt pink is getting out of his cage anytime soon. Cyan is completely destroyed and doesn't seem capable of building anything.
Skeleton tactic is superbly wicked and a bit OP. Spellchoices for the AI are great. I think by removing blind which made it possible for me to res my armies at the end of a battle the game could be made even harder without completely tilting the balance.
Great map because you have to react and get out fast to win. Interestingly enough I didn't get the Armor of the Damned which I always used to be able to get (4 artifacts at 4 corners of the map) but still won and I usually lost back then so maybe destruction of enemy forces is more important than the games best artifact in this case.
GL HF anyone who wants to try this game.

I played this map on impossible and won it in 1,5 months. However i "cheated" a little cause i played this as Tower and the closet enemy was also a Tower (did that on a purpose). This map is very hard and somewhat luck based as well. To speedrun that you probably need:
-strong mage as a main hero
-some proper spells including ressurection, berserk, blind, force field and so on
-at least one town producing VERY speedy creatures and/or artifacts giving a speed bonus at fights.
Playing that as a cooperative map would be much harder i guess. It's better to crush ur neighbour ASAP than sharing resources and troops...

Lol ye that's what I've read everywhere but I couldn't manage killing my opponent who starts with like 1000 skeletons and 500 zombies so I didn't At the moment where I have stoped playing blue is alive, just has no troops. It's purple who I am destroying - first! O_o
Figured I won and stoped playing ^^
Also O_O! Gj with Impossible.
How did you do it? I have trouble progressing at the start and getting a new building every turn on hard. You do it on impossible and still attack blue early?! Well done.
Did you get lucky with alot of units surrendering to you?
Btw you and people in your thread beat the map pretty fast. I'm still on month 3 week 4 lol. Never got berserk...
Basically I think I tricked the map xD You're not supposed to survive the first wave I guess without defeating blue first but somehow I did and ended up slowly grinding to victory. I kept hitting purples re-enforcements while letting blue run around and do his thing (never attacking him, even if I could beat him).

Well, i dont remenber this map in details, so just a general strategy i used:
on week 1 i cleared my own territory. i reloaded a few times untill i got some good bonus troops near my castle. had 3 towns by the end of a week.
on week 2 i rushed towards blue. there is a small trick: you can kill a monster guarding entrance to blue's territory and attack his main castle at the same turn. he wont try to defend it than. i got 200 extra gremlins from his castle and upgraded them, had somewhat like 350 gremlin masters. he attacked me with his main army, but his gremlins were not upgraded (lucky me) and 1,5k basic gremlins are useless at sieging. just destroy his catapult and he is a goner. finished off blue and got his towns at week 3. at the same time you should send some secondary heroes to robe the middle of the map - get all resources and stuff that is unguarded.
on week 3-4 you must clear the middle of the map. you desperatly need resources to upgrade magic guilds and learn spells. you need a strong main hero as well, having expert intelligence, earth/water/air magic and so on.
IIRC teal pops out at the beginning of month 2. he was very easy to beat in my case. i fought him inside the castle and blinded everyone in 7 turns, than kept on blinding untill his catapult destroyed all 3 towers. than its just a blind-shoot-blind againd strategy.
I attacked the dragon harrison right after beating teal and getting orb of vulnerability. first i blinded fairies plus armour of damned slowed dragons down. than i hid my titans behind a forcefield, lured dragons close to eachother and used berserk to kill them. the last dragon stack can be killed by abusing a berserk bug with your unit hidden behind an obstacle.
purple was very easy to beat, no problems there. now i had to go underground to face pink. he is guarded by a big stack of azure dragons. here you must somehow outrun them at turm 1. in my game i had archdevils (from purple's towns) and 2 "+1 ms" artifacts. without speed advantage tou probably wont be able to win there. pink himself has 2 unguarded towns, no problems there. the last town however is guarded by a "big boss" of this map (had to give away orb of vulnerability before that fight).
This fight is not that hard but a very long one. first i blinded enchanterers, than i let cyclops shoot me and survived by summoning elementals. after many turns he wasted his mana using some blesses on his troops. than u must reduce defence of his shooters and flying creatures to 0 with disruption ray. its hard cause he has superb magic resistance. than ressurect titans, hide behind force field and kill everyone. than you only need to finish off teal and you are the victorious.

Hehe nice. Yeah I didn't have blind early neither nor was it of much use against other necros. But animate dead and forcefields kinda worked too. I got blind later.
Didn't know that trick with blue I guess you got a bit lucky for had he had 1500 master gremlins that fight would've been alot tougher xD
Still very well done considering it's impossible. I'm amazed...
Yeah cyan wasn't too big of a problem for me neither and it's a pitty he can't re-enforce himself (once you kill his main two heroes he doesn't recruit anymore). Purple was the hardest for me but since you had 6 castles vs 3 that I have I guess that explains it.
How did you get 200 extra gremlins from his castle? Didn't he mass-recruit or was this the start of Week 3?
So I guess besides pwning south castle you ignore most of the mines in your area and the enemies and go straight for blue?
