Why... arab oriented orcs? We already have Academy with arabic/indian themes.

But I do agree that oliphants look epic, and that possible return of the behemoth would make this game buyable for me from day one.

Since I didn't get dwarves, and probably won't get demons, I'll play with orcs.

i wanna correct somethings here.

you guys(excluding some of you) think everything in east, is arabic.

slyvan theme-turkish-greek music but it is arabic to you
orcs in H7 design looks mongol-rhûn but you guys again, think it is as arabic.
academy.. well lol academy is really kind of arabic.

point is im trying to say, just like western part of the world, there are really much more things in the eastern world than just arabs.

i was considering myself unlucky to be born in east. but after seeing you guys knowladge level about cultures, i really start to consider my self lucky.

ps: i mean no offence stormcaller, i was in need to quote someone to give an example to whole HC.

Well i would say that Orcs in fact are arab oriented, but a Bedouin arab style
As for the music for Sylvan if u check russian forums they all dicuss that the music is Armenian
And if that's the case i'd much rather prefer Duduk instrument instead of Clarinet which would fit nature faction perfectly

Sure, Indians and Chinese and Siberians and Mongols etc, but I doubt most people know enough about the middle-east to quantify say an Arab from an Iranian from a Turk sans an encyclopedia, and likewise I suspect many people would have difficulty telling a Hindu from a Sikh from an Indian Buddhist.

I never said Orcs from Homm5 were arabs, I know the difference btw mongols and arabs, lol.

All I said is that these orcs have desert arabic-african feel, which is something I don't like.

Also, they need to get rid of harpy. It doesn't belong in Stronghold's faction, lacks proper brutality.

No way! Don't take away my Harpies I love those things

Those poor Harpies were tortured and experimented on, twisted and used as slaves by the morally dubious Academy peeps. They've won their freedom and have found acceptance and a home amongst the orcs. Who are you to send them back out into the wildnerness????

Vote 1 Harpies

So do Centaurs and Goblins, but they are still with them. I actually like Harpies in Stronghold(not really liking their design much, but it is ok for Stronghold I guess), because they move Stronghold away from all tough-walker lineup.

Sure, something else can be in her place but I don't know what because those units should be core, fast, with flying, strike&return ability, and none of the units I can think of belong to Stronghold.

Goblins do belong to Stronghold, as they were part of it since heroes 3 goblins/hobgoblins. Besides, goblins were always part of orcs ( warhammer and so on ). Oh wait did you mean cause of brutality part?, okay then.

Harpies do not however, and I think they would look better in some other faction. Centaurs are fine, but I disliked their zebra design in H6.

Not sure how I would feel about anthelope centaurs if they introduce them in H7.

What do you think on Wyverns?

Eh, I haven't played 1 or 2 so I often forget they were there as well ( 90's kid )

Either way, I would take anything but harpies for Stronghold. Good god, if we could get behemots as a champion choice....

exactly this! armenian, eastern europe, middle east, turkey, greece etc. they all have much more differencies than similarities. but someone far away from that will see the same thing.
i really like that sylvan will be armenian/romanian-like,nature people, than the standard scottish green elves.
sublte differencies but still noticable from a certain point of view.

If Centaur of H7 will be half-antilope I wish Stronghold line-up like this:

Core > Crusher / Harpy / Centaur
Elite > Shaman / Roc / Ogre
Champion > Behemoth / Cyclops
____________
Our hopes for Heroes VIII!

My Stronghold line-up

Core:

Goblin
Gnoll (perhaps as Hyena Rider)
Crusher

Elite:

Troll (throws boulders, a-la H2 Troll/H3 Cyclops. Upgrade could be a Shaman/Witch)
Wyvern/Pao-Kai
Gnasher (a monstrous, mutant boar, perhaps ridden by an Orc)

Champion:

Cyclops
Behemoth

So, let's see: at Core we've got 3 walkers. Goblin will PERHAPS be ranged (or stay melee but be able to create traps instead, with good damage potential according to stack size), Gnoll will be a fast walker/skirmisher while Crusher will be tank.

At Elite Trolls will be ranged, Wyverns will be fliers of-course (the Stronghold's only) and Gnashers will be similar to Dread Knights of H3- fast walkers, but also able to tank due to high HP and damage. Also, multiple Stronghold units (Trolls, Gnashers and Cyclopses) will be able to attack walls, nullifying the disadvantage of only one flier.

The two Champions are both tanks with average move rates, though Cyclops will focus on damaging multiple units (a Cleave/area attack) while Behemoth will specialize in picking them one-by-one (for example ignoring armor, going Berserk etc.).

Also I would put Berserkers (human ones, like H4), Siege Oliphaunts and Harpies (and PERHAPS Centaurs) as special Warfare units.

And about Ogres...

in my opinion Ogres in Ashan should just be a name for really big Orcs (like H5's Slayers), not a different species. I think as units Trolls, with rengeration etc., are much more interesting, and as an Elite tank unit a beast unit, like Gnasher or Oliphaunt, would also be WAY more interesting. Centaurs are the same- not interesting (though a Cameltaur for a desert-themed Stronghold would be quite hilarious). I would leave them out or make them warfare or neutral units.

So overall the Stronghold will be THE melee faction. Their units have good HP, attack and damage and quite good speed, but they only get their shooter and flier at Elite. Also, all their Orc/Demonblood units (everything except for Gnolls, Wyverns, Gnashers and Behemoths) have Bloodrage.

Good god, i love your line-up suggestions. Troll was a neutral unit in H3 if i remember correctly, and it had regeneration as ability, but that's covered by wyverns now right?

I do hope we see Oliphants as an actual unit, and just a warfare one.

I just hope they don't put Wyverns as a champion unit choice -.-. We need dem behemots back.

About Stronghold's beasts

if Oliphaunt would be an actual unit, it would fill the Gnasher's role as a melee/siege unit. Also, about Wyvern rgeneration- I guess that's from Tribes of the East, right? Never played that game, I just remember them from Heroes 3. BTW- a PROPER, swamp Fortress town would also be great, but I don't think those cheap Ubisoft will make it.
