What is the Confusion really to do?
For a very very long time i didn't understand what is this spell. When i read it says enemies forget ranged attacks retaliates etc etc but everytime i've tried, i feel it's useless
Here is the example. Now i'm playing campaigs i have a shadya and i've encountered with 75 succubus. I've cast confusion on them (it says affects 90% of the creatures) and 75 succubus deals 480 damage with ranged attack. Only 10% part can deals 480 damage? or affects 90% is a LIE?
Which one?

Confusion works as it is described:
Affects 50%, 70%, 90% and 100% (for no mastery, basic, advanced and expert respectivly) of the targeted stack.
480 damage seems way too high (allthough I didn't do the maths) in your example. You sure you've casted confusion?

i've cast confusion for the testing because i've read affects 90% of the creatures. 75 succubus hit my blood sisters from full range and dealt 472 damage. Shadya Dark Magic is Expert. For a 3 years i don't understand this spell -_-

There was a bug that miscalculated the effect but I forget in what way  Either the advanced skill got the basic effect and vice versa or it calculated the inverse value(more likely). So it would affect 10% of the stack instead of 90% etc. But there is no issue if you have expert dark magic, it affects 100% of the stack as intended.

Yeah, the Confusion is worth anything only when u have Expert Dark Magic - Mass Confusion is terribly useful spell when u fight against Elves or Haven

Well, of course, my good lad.
A dark magic spell is always best used towards the creatures of holy life(light).
Against the damned(inferno), dark realm ones(Dungeon) and, the unholy + pure Evil(Necromancers) no quite so.
The more Dark inclined are creatures of these underworld factions are, the less effects it will have on them. Almost no effect at all onto the undead creatures, for example.

At expert level...shooters don't shoot.  If you are new to the game and have not seen the Fan-Guide...you should get it while you still can. It is very well made and explains all about the game.

Nah, I'm playing for a long time - I just never understood this one spell.
How about other, meelee or caster creatures?

Melee units dont retaliate (dont attack back when you attack them). Casters are uneffected, unless your hero is Alastor (Inferno). His ability burns 1 mana for every hero lvl.

Alastor sounds like it would be worth giving him a try now.
