with all do respect, Necro doesn't just need darkness. I prefer to imagine the Undead as creatures "radiating with sheer terror", making all the living tremble at their presence even in full daylight...
So, give Sylvan their moonlight, give Dungeon their dark underground corners and leave the terrifying looks and aura to the Undead!

The Fury atmosphere for me would have fit better with Sanctum & Dance. However, my feeling is that Tree Island combined with Moonlight TS would bring an interesting contrast between the guerrilla lineup and the more oniric vibes from the first three NWC iterations of the faction. Actually, the Moonix would fit perfectly in such environment, too bad it isn't part of Fury, and probably not popular enough to try a request demanding that walking-Dragon replacement.

Voted for the Dawn. But not because of H5 nostalgia. Simply because that Island Tree town-screen seems dark enough for my liking.
Dark Island Tree plus the Moonlight, I guess I'll need a new pair of glasses.
(Voted for the Sanctum first time).
And let us not forget, this is just a general direction, it doesn't mean we'll see the H5 tree again.
P.S. - and hello everybody, congratulations for your faith in HoMM (first post, long time reader, even longer time player - started with H2 in college, about 15 years ago; HoMM is the only game I occasionally still play )

Man, Ubi are really milking this whole community involvement thing aren't they...
But moon sounds like an OK variant on the whole grassy landscape. Just hope they won't go too sailor moon on our asses.

These townscreen votes are nice. Choosing the most preferable option out of two good option is an appreciated change during these hellish line-up votes. Here are my two cents:
Moonlight
A night sky might give the Sylvan townscreen too much of a Dark Elf feeling. On the other hand this setting could give a beautiful atmosphere with lots of little lights in and around the tree.
The only thing that I am a bit afraid of is that at night there is a lack of colour. This is great for gloomy factions like Dungeon and Necropolis, but for Sylvan I would like a colourful townscreen.
Dawn
Ugh, lens flare 
When choosing dawn, we will basically have an reiteration of the Heroes V townscreen. Without 3D this will be very likely to turn out as a bit of a disappointment. That said, for me Sylvan does feel as a sun loving faction, as sunlight is necessary for plants to grow.
What I would prefer is an early dawn where the sun is not high enough yet to give us awful lens flares. A misty morning with fog hanging over the lake and towering above that a majestic tree city.
Even better would be the other twilight: dusk. Imagine an orange/pink sky and fog rising from the lake, while in the city lanterns are lit everywhere. I would love that
For now I am undecided as both options seem good, however I am leaning towards the moonlight.

Ah this explains everything. First fury won and now a night theme will.
We want a night elf faction.
I hope stronghold orcs will be green too. Maybe even a tauren champion.
Man this game will be great. The less it feels like a Heroes games the better. +1

I wouldn't be so sure. As I said above, this might be just the general direction. And it might be that it was just easy for them (lazy of them?) to copy the H5 tree image in order to illustrate the dawn theme, instead of creating a new one.
(And they already said these images are a general direction and not actual town-screens)

As awesome as Moonlight probably would be, I feel like it doesn't quite fit to Sylvan. I'd like a Moonlight theme for Necropolis, not for Sylvan.

I guess we'll meet them by moonlight But seriously, elves have been associated with the moonlight for too much time to make it seem like a Warcraft thing  (then again, I've heard people calling Elric of Melnibone an imitation of Arthas...sheesh)

There is only one word to describe that, my friend:BLASPHEMY  I believe you agree and, if you indeed do so, I would be honored if you accompanied me in tracking down whoever said such a thing and putting an end to their days
Ontopic: as I always preferred Night Elves to their "flower-sniffing cousins", the Darker (closer to Night Elves) Sylvan gets, the more the possibilities are for me to begin to like this faction...

Voted: Dance of a new Dawn.
Simply because, this is about the Sylvan people and, not the bannished Dark Elves. Second, these elves revere life and, constant natural rebirth of its own eternal life giving stance.
Third, I will read, later on, that people complained about how hard it is to distinguish the dwellings of the town screen of the Sylvan Elves.
Fourth, if you want the Elves to be ghosts within the leaves and trees of their vast forests of their starting original territory, just make sure there no roads made right at the start of the game and, that the forests are so dense in between the mines + outer dwellings that any other factions' armies will have to find a way through them via clearings or a shallow creek to use in order to make sure they do not get jumped or ambushed so easily. Making the invasion of such territory, a real nightmare.
