I guess expecting the introduction of a multiplayer Duel mode (IMO the best addition of the Ubi era to the saga) would be too much. Do we know anything about what Ubi could possibly add besides the revamped graphics? The awesome Conflux, perhaps?

ROFL

Well apart little upbrights like the fun one can have playing Luna, Conflux first of all came in as a replacement for the Forge, which doesn't make it a true faction in my regard, just look at the lineup to see how much thought was put into it, also relevant of the rush encountered while making that faction. At the time of AB, there was not much pro-Forge activity, but looking now at the WoG subforum we can see there has been a lot going on in the last couple of years.

Who cares about broken, is a matter of functionality. Without conflux, there is no AB/SoD compatibility, neither random generator.

I think we need to express our opinion and hope for the best. I really don't understand why they went only for RoE either but I do wish for the expansions too and express myself in that direction. Whatever Ubisoft makes of that it's up to them, but it will affect my decision in buying/supporting the product, so if they don't care about us I might not care about them either. Still hoping things will turn out ok in the end.

This is business, I hope you realize. I don't know who asked for HD version, but at least I am sure for one thing, that wasn't me, and UBI can't count me in its butt-licker idiotic groupies, given the last HoMM sequels. From my perspective, one of the most important things which started to look old in HoMM III is the game play interface, and not the graphics which are still outstanding. But I can't say I was waiting for something from officials, as unofficial mods proved to be much more effective, like Baratorch HD-mod or some interface bonus Era mods.

Being able to check your backpack without scrolling 62 (!) possible artifacts, being able to transfer armies and artifacts in one click, being able to upgrade or buy ALL creatures at once (and not one click/each as vanilla), being able to cut that stupid battle music which takes up to 8 seconds EACH battle, being able to see battle stacks movement range graphically specified, being able to click-receive information about creature dwellings WITHOUT visiting them (empty/available number), THIS is what an hardcore player is naturally waiting. And if you think the game should apply both for hardcore and not hardcore fans, then accept that the hardcore guys can also formulate their critics and respect them.

There was a petition on official forums to make a HD mod(just like there s another petition about making HotA official and making the HotA team an official/paid crew so they speed things up) which was signed by a loads of players (not myself since im a more conservative type, but opened up to new) but if you didnt sign it then dont buy it, dont involve in it and dont trash-talk about it because some of the critics in this thread are not really critics(im not referring to you, im referring to people who are doing that). People stopped minding their own bussiness and you can clearly see that ubisoft tries to please the fans. First off, they slightly changed the name of the game to 'might and magic: heroes' so the meaning of the name wouldnt label the series anymore and people would stop comparing homm3 with the new games and after they failed again [in the vision of the fans] they put anything to voting, giving their players the chance to shape of the game, YET there s still a hating thread called 'Should we vote about everything in this game??'. i mean, REALLY?

and @sal, maybe they didnt mention those features yet.

When you start asking fans to vote, it only means you have no clue how to make your game.

or it probably means that they want to 'discuss' things with some fans about a game that they took over from another company that went bankrupt. which is a pretty hard thing because the fans are unapproachable, as you can clearly see. and it's even harder to keep the same vision, style and purpose of the game that the previous company had.

and it's not like they started the voting system with homm5, they did it for mmh7, after they did it in their way 2 times.

Voting is no more than a trick to keep the community active and to get rid of the responsibility of the taken decision. Also helps to clear the reputation.

If you think that the majority of fans know better than a professional game designer, well...

yes they do know. they know what they want, they know what the game lacks. also, you re forgetting that ubisoft did not design these series!

i know i want a heroes with good graphics like heroes 6 but with a faster combat speed like heroes 3. if ubisoft would make a poll about that i'd be the first to vote

With internet, people are getting more and more used to participate in things (even if it's just an illusion or trick as you call it). Presenting things under interactive platforms gets more customers. That's why some news bulletins keep broadcasting the tweets of their audience for example, people watch more if they think their tweets can be on TV. It's not like they are the ones actually making the news though.

just because you may not personally agree with so-called "hating", that doesn't give you a right to shut it down hue hue hue

for me, my only agenda is to get a good game, I don't care about all the excuses in the world, and I'm not getting that,

so the only way they'll ever please me is by creating that game which requires the use of brains and scrapping their dumb Ashan world,
a failed rename of the series (lol?) and a half baked HD remake is hardly going to not piss me off lol

Let’s take things back from the beggining, again. Ubisoft did a reboot of the franchise with HOMM-V. The game had already a 10 years fanbase looking forward to this game, loving it for many and specific aspects. Ubisoft had a noble task to accomplish by this act : they had to reboot one of the best TBS game of all times.
Their first move in that attempt was not only to change developers that had been there since the very beggining, but also to scrap out any of the early work already in existence regarding the series’s possible future (NWC’s HMM5). To my understanding, this attitude doesn’t show much artistic and creative interest regarding the franchise. After, if you want to propose a complete new setting because you have a vision and feel very inspired, you’re taking risks, but fine, the result can be outstanding, but you have to at least love the previous setting in order to do so, and imho Ashan doesn’t reflects that.
Then there is the atmosphere change. I know many that didn’t play H5 because of it. Previous HoMM games had a quite unique and visual feeling, while H5 just looked like WoW or WH, this is fact. Nival still managed to save the gameplay, but they stopped working for Ubisoft after the release.
Then MMH6 happened. With a change of developers in the process, it is only after that game’s failure that Ubisoft realized they were burying the franchise, which they don’t wish, hence the huge fanbase. Them admitting they don’t know how to handle the franchise could be seen as a noble act, but again Ubisoft's reaction doesn't reflect such approach : creating flame wars by making fans vote out factions (instead of, ie, giving to the most passionate and knowledgeable developers the glorious task of coming up with a new setting) and proposing lineups to choose from, with iconic creatures teared apart from one another. I mean, REALLY ?
But okay, maybe you are right, they are really trying hard and are just bad at it.

3do hit the jackpot with homm3 and i believe by mistake, because everything they did after (forge, homm4) BURIED the series. that was the actual downfall. ubisoft would have been stupid to go on with the same path as 3do, the path of failure. they had to reinvent it. and not only in the gameplay aspect but in the lore aspect too. homm4 was already on a new world, after enroth was destroyed and that world was Axeoth. it was too much of a chaos in the lore. 3do had to explain the change of creature line ups [e.g. how centaurs went from elves to barbarians etc]. the only things i liked about axeoth from homm4 were the way the story was narrated and the music. i really didnt like this new world setting. the damage had been done. ubisoft had to find another way to make the series more appealing gameplay and lore wise and that was to reinvent the lore and keep some gameplay features, which was actually a smart move.

You actually believe this? Come on... They had no clue which factions to put inside the game so they asked us? They had no clue what line-ups to give us so they asked us? Within the options designed by them? Sure.

How about, they started to give a snow about us after receiving community and sales feedback? And make no mistake, interactive development is in no way limited to Ubisoft, other producers use it too, like Sony for example with Everquest Next.

Dj Well Forge didn't happened so I don't see how it could have buried anything. If I'm not mistaken it is the 3DO Console that ruined the company, not homm4.
I didn't imply that creating a new lore wasn't a smart move, I implied that this new lore didn't seem to reflect in any way the inspiration from JVC.

actually that's nonsense to say they "had to" this, "had to" that like it was preordained, because it's not true
both Nival and Arkane intended to put their games in Axeoth, and Ubisoft were the ones that told them no

you genuinely think Ubisoft would scrap the series because of simple lineup changes like moving centaurs to barbarians, which is where they are in Ashan anyway? oh yeah that's soooo chaotic and confusing, let's just nuke the whole universe lol

they scrapped it because they arrogantly thought their vision with lizard gods was much better than the old one, like most anybody who reboots a franchise does

I believe the thing that BURIED 3DO is exactly the one they have in commun with UbiSoft: greed.

If they didn't had to rush AB (as they had already rushed RoE) Forge would had the time to mature and came out in style, making the game even better. If they had been clever enouch to see beyond their own belly buttons and supported WoG they would had bankroupt cause the franchise would be ten times better and a classic like WoW. But due to bad management or simple greed they were always in the verge.

"The only things i liked about axeoth from homm4 were..." well, everything except the AS (Artificial Stupidity) that allows you to play at 200% and KNOW you will be able to smash your enemies near their own starting towns no matter if you arrive there by the second or the 9th month. And again this was because they didn't found the time to solve the in game problems not because the game was overall bad.

I respect Nival, they made other of my favorite games but they were so into the game they basicly copied H3 alignments.
I can't make an objective revue of H5 and H6 cause I felt them so desapointing I almost never played them (same happened with AoW III btw) but they need to do much better to "buy" my loyalty. I already have WoG they can't take it away from me.
