I'm gonna start by being the negative guy here. I already said this on multiple occasions. Necropolis from H6 can go to the dogs. But I loathe the faction on the conceptual level: everything connected to the spider aspect they so proudly pushed onto us and the resulting mess that came out of it. The only good thing that came out of it in my opinion is the lamassu which I liked though I did not particularly enjoy it being a foil of the manticore.

Setting aside the mechanical changes and going purely by aesthetics...

Yes, mostly. Not a fan of the Lamasu and this particular iteration of Liche, but otherwise happy. Prefer the Ghouls to past variations of zombies, given that I've been sick of zombies for, like, a decade now. Upgraded skelie looks weird in the artwork with its lack of nose hole, but fine in game. I'm quite fond of the style of Vampires and like the Vampire Lord's armoured look. Ghosts are good in general, and I'm not opposed to see them return for H7. As for the Fate Spinners, it's a mix of "not sure if they belong in Necro" and "regardless, they were executed well."

Yes.

Skeleton. Low level shooter, something Necro has almost never had until H5, as an upgrade. A shooter that slows, much like the Dwarven spear thrower. Cool. 9/10

A Ghoul instead of a zombie. Most of the zombies were slow and dreary, usually just being a health slab and little else defensively or offensively. The Ghoul was fast, and was quite active. 9/10

The Ghost could use it's allies as centralized bombs. Death breeds death, and Ghosts ensure this. 8/10

Vampires. Usually pretty bland anyway. Doesn't stand to H3's Orlok inspired beast, but still works okay. A little slow. Teleports, okay, whatever. Health steal, a key unit. 6/10

Lich. Looks pretty weird. No death blast bomb of old liches like H3/5. Resurrect ability works once, kinda faulty. Has a Dark "curse", but that only really increases Lich and Ghost power (maybe Weaver?), and of course Dark spell power, but is spread out like the death cloud, so Ghost bombing could work and Lich attack should increase as soon as it hits a new target, as it should have been hit by the Embrace. 5/10

Lamasu. Interesting unit choice. Interesting abilities, although not very useful in combat. Feels sluggish. 6/10

Fate Weavers. 2 form unit, no other is like it. Shooter/Melee forms. Interesting unit choice. Shooter looks suitably monstrous. So to does the Melee form. Nice abilities. 8/10

Town Screen. Not a huge amount of spikes and spires placed all willy nilly. Few "obvious" buildings, as to what they do. Not as much green as hyped. Dark and dreary. No people walking, feels like a ghost town. Or, really, a ghost fort. Ghostly wisps float about to ensure this. Background music reminds me of a carnival, though. 7/10

Overall Faction feel. More green than a cartoon of radiation. Feels un-lively. Feels dead. Oddly fits. 6/10

7/10 average score. Passes.

It's no H3 necro, but, H3 necro also has Slow Skeletons, slow Zombies, another Dragon, and a guy on a horse. Not much inspiration there either, though that horse guy's ability is pretty sweet. The Wraith, Vampire and Lich all feel better than the rest of it's faction, as well as the Town feeling more "spooky" dead rather than whatever carnival feeling I get from the Babylonian Goth store that decided to be built on an ancient avocado burial ground.

Still like it though.

Let me put it this way...

MMH6 Necro was THE FIRST TIME I've ever willingly played the faction outside of the necessitous campaign scenarios in the previous games.

It wasn't perfect, but I liked the direction it was going.

Overall not keen on this iteration of Necropolis. I do think that the Lamasu was an interesting addition, however, and one that has the proper "fantasy" feel that I think most of the H6 creatures otherwise lacked. The Neon green look, however, was a major let-down, and the whole Fate-spinner thing seemed too modern and contrived for me.

Also the townscreen: Welcome to the disco?

Overall yes, I like H6 necro, I like ghoul, lamasu and spider lady. The only unit I don't like is lich, he's look stupid.

The spider theme and the green aren't bother me much, I kinda miss the green neon.

Dat townscreen! Ouch!
Its better than town window but its just awful in comparison to townscreens from any other Heroes game. Lich is a bit letdown but rest is ok.

Not much, nope.
That doesn't say much, however, since I generally dislike HoMM 6 artificial looking high-glare color-coded creature display. Creatures as such are ... bland for me, since they make sense only with a view on "Ashan"; strictly spoken, with HoMM 6 - sorry: MMH6 - Necropolis stopped being a faction of undead as we know them. They could have called the creatures any way they wanted because I don't see a lot of similarities between a "traditional" Vampire Lord and its Ashan version.

That in turn means, I don't care much anymore about which creatures will be in and which will be not, because even if the name is supposed to tell me something, the package will contain something different, namely, an Ashan version of it.

You can see the effect in many reactions with those who actually still do care; many are like, "great, X is in, but I had hoped for a look more along the lines of Y".

No.

Here's a brakedown:

1.) The feeling: It changed drasticaly from previous games, even from H5 Ashan. It does not feel like undead AT ALL. More like the dark wizard faction from space? Maybe? It's fine if you like this kind of thing, but I don't. It feels Sci-fi. I belive this is most futuristic faction to date.

2.) The townscreen: Actualy I think it's ok. I don't pay much atention to town screens, but the art is consistent with creature art. Also, it's a big step up since before the patch, when there were no TS.

3.) The creatures: Overall creatures got this futurisctic alien look. Whole faction looks like it's from sci-fi movie, and not from fantasy setting. Then it's radioactive green glow that surrounds them all. Needless to say they could od witouth it.

- Skeleton: It's ok, only his throwing spears are too tick. I do like H7 version more. I still prefer simple skeleton with no armor.

- Ghoul: Oh c'mon! WoW clone at it's finest. I'm surprised Blizzard didn't sue them. Upgraded version has futuristic bondage armor. It's ugly and i prefer Zombie ... or indeed Spider. I do not like Spider, but it's better than this thing.

- Spectre: It's alright. Boring design tho. But something I tolerate. It's a creature that you can not make interasting, but faction would be lacking witouth it.

- Lich: Stupid. He floats on hot air, he's got futuristic google glasses. Bondage armor, with radioactive alien tech.

- Vampire: Emo look, anime haircut, overdesigned alien armor, equiped with teleporting technology. If he wasn't named Vampire, noone would guess that he is one. He looks warrior from some sci-fi movie ... like Cronicles of Riddick. Vampire is LAST thing i asociate with this look.

- Lamasu: I like Lamasu. I do not care about lore. I like his idea and look and don't care if lore justification is stupid and lame. Again. I. DO. NOT. CARE. ABOUT. LORE.

- Fate weaver: Again. I rather like the idea behind it. Her design could be better. I would prefer Bone dragon or Death knight tho. I hope in H7 we can get Fate weaver and Bone dragon as 2 champions, and Death knight in Elite lineup. This would be perfect.

Let me start by saying that I Object to this being a yes or no question. A 5-tier like-dislike scale would be far more appropriate here. But of course, it's to late to change this now.

In a 5-tier answer I would fall either in the neither like nor dislike category or in the I like it somewhat category.
As for what I think of H6 Necropolis. I'm gonna quote myself from the faction-direction thead from october 2013:
War-overlord said:
Necropolis
And we come to Necropolis. The undead, the scary, disgusting, rotting corpses that come to haunt you. Or maybe not.
There are several things to complain about when we talk of Necropolis. For instance the fact that Ubisoft doesn't know where it stands from an architectural/aesthetic standpoint. Where in Heroes5 was going for a Frankensteinish-neogothic aesthetic, it was completely thrown around in Heroes6, where it is going for Babylonian-Egyptian-Book of the Dead thing. Preferences aside, that's quite the switch you made there Ubisoft. What's it gonna be next time? Huh? You don't know yet? Might be something entirely different? Make up your damn mind. Don't get me wrong here, I like both for different reasons and I don't think either doesn't work. But please, pick one and stick to it. And you better make damn sure it bloody fits! If you're going back to the magnificent snow Necromancers, like Sandro and Markal, go for the Neogothic. It works. (and have some moustache twirling in there) If you're gonna stick with the depressed, afraid of dying death-cult thing, stick with the Levantine theme. The you can have serious people like Arantir. (Why is it that they can write Necromancers & Orcs reasonably, but not anthing else?)
And with that, slightly disconnected segue, we come to the second point. The whole deathcult thing. Look, I get it. It's not that bad and thing to make Necromancers be. A cult who worships death, because they fear it (death) so much that they'd rather spend an etenrity in unlife. And I get that you want them to come across as: "Oooooh. Look at us, we don't have no emotions no more. Feeling things is for suckers."-yadayadayada. Fine. But then do it well. Make them uppity, snappy and hypocritical about it. Have them feel feelings, so they can deny them. Because they way they are written now, they come across as depressed. Which is exactly what you do not want them to be. Because if they were depressed, they would have welcomed the relief of death.
As far as line-ups goes. I'm ok with it. Let me state then, that I am glad that Zombies have been left by the wayside and replaced with Ghouls. Good riddance. And the rest makes sense. Mindless puppets and enslaved souls at the Core. Sentient Undead and great undead beasties on Elite. I'd always prefered the Bone Dragons over Namtarus, but it's not worth it to make much fuss about.
Lastly one more thing about Vampires. The way Ubisoft writes them is quircky, like Orcs. It's their way of making it their own. It doesn't change things too drastically to not make them vampires. Dracula- and Nosferatu-fanboys need to either lighten up or take a long walk off a short pier. Vampires are too small a part of the universe to make such a ruckus about.

Since they have decided on the Levantine theme, you may sorta disregard my then peeve on being inconsistent.

I agree with War-Overlord this should not have been a just yes or no question. I personally did not find it appealing agreeing heavily with JJ's point especially when it comes to this faction.

If your point is, indeed, to see if HC conforms to what is claimed, then no, this isn't pointless.
If it is to then use it to disprove Ubi-claims and try to affect change, I'm not all together certain it will be succesfull.
As recent polls on HC on communityvotes show, HC isn't exactly representative.

When comparing the results of our polls to the official ones, we are a very vocal conservative collections of "fans".
Compared to the Blogg, we're an old-folks-home, very loudly complaining about those gosh-danged whippersnappers skateboarding on the sidewalks and knocking over our canes and walkers.
