Some thoughts about Dungeon and Fortress

Maybe there is a thread about this, but lately a question has been bugging my mind. Were the basilisk and wyvern originally dungeon creatures, and were sent later to fortress?

There are some alpha screenshots that have medusae instead of basilisks in fortress. Then when we look at the dungeon puzzle map: http://www.timetoyagers.com/bkemper/enlargedpics/Heroes3/Heroes3Dungeon.jpg

The dragon in the upper left corner looks more like a wyvern, the lack of forelimbs and a rather spike-like tail. It is still more dragon looking, but then most of the creatures on puzzle maps look more or less different from their ingame counterparts. The second interesting piece is the lizard on dungeon. Now its a bit of a stretch to think that it's a "alternate looking" basilisk, but considering some of the other alternate looks, its quite possible that the chamelon like lizard is actually a basilisk.

This would make the "original" Dungeon quite more reptilian.

But when they started working on fortress they probably shifted some creatures around.

Your thouhts about it?

My initials feelings on the subject are no, they were put where originally intended.  Furthermore, it wouldn't make sense to have a wyvern, a flying creature in an underground cave.  Then I remember Dungeons has a dragon, manticore, and harpy and don't know what to think about anything anymore.

Wrath and raving I will not stop
You'll never take me down
