I -think- ( as in not sure ) that your rolls are based on your stats and or the perks linked to them.

Lying to someone might be your charisma alone, while messing up with a robot might be your intelligence, or your intelligence with a bonus based on your robotic perk, or just your robotic perk.

I gotta say I'm very mixed about the FO4 level/perk -system. I've been reading the descriptions and it feels like the somewhat useless perks have now 2nd effect for settlements. Reduce chance for alcohol addiction... but get more room for people in settlement. Overall it still feels simplified system, rather moving backwards than forward

Turning to ghoul sounds a cool, except when I kept reading it started sound more like Skyrim. Turning takes couple days, Feral-mode for temp boost and curable via quest... Now it sounds more like gimmick to me(I long did hope for chance to play as ghoul/mutant too)

I'm glad to see bobble-heads back though

Well, people usually doesn't like change. It's indeed a change, but I suppose it will make the game more balanced that way. Everyone made high INT toons because of the extra skills, but with the new system, you're more tempted to take of every SPECIAL instead. Don't you wanna get 9 charisma? You can charm and ride your own Yuo gai into battle. Full mounted combat is supported!

But there are things to consider. First, what other benefits Charisma has and second, how to create a "really" balanced character. I didn't prefer a character that, say, has 100% guns skill and has other ones minimal. Just saying I want a character than can respond well in all situations to experience the most out of it, rather than making one character focused on guns, the other on melee weapons etc.

Fallout NV and Skyrim are huge enough; asking for replayability is a bit too much, as you need to spend a lot of time to complete all quests and max some of the preferred skills.

Well, fallout has always been good for at least 2 runs. It's made so you play one toon that solves most problems peacefully and a second, more brutal one with one intelligence for all the new dialogues. I assume, if you wish to solve everything peacefully, requires all points in INT, CHA and AGI. Do that and get a laser pistol I guess.

And so it begins.

But from what I saw, parts of the storyline have been reused from Fallout 3. Like Liberty Prime starting to assault the base.

Man, talk about shallow plot.

Nah.  Work.  I loaded it up about 7:37 AM, watched the intro, picked the default character, got some coffee, commented on a comic book, and then saved the game.

It is always irksome living in an Eastern time zone when all the Steam games release at 9:00 PM Pacific.

I'm reading that the story-telling and conversations are worse than Bethesda's usual eunuch attempts to impregnate their worlds with some immersion, graphics and particularly character models/NPCs are downgraded Fallout 3 and you get Power Armour after 10-15 minutes of play. That's quite enough for me, the 5% chance to get this even with a major discount dropped to zero.

Ain't that a bit too high standard? I mean, that power armor, it requires "fuel" in shape of items.

I know and I understand such changes were never needed, but is it really that worth to disregard the whole game?

Wearing power armor is essentially a super powered mode and way of travelling that requires very high maintenance. I've basically only brought it with me when the quest giver hinted there was a boss monster to be dealt with. And I was glad I did, because this particular boss monster could kill me pretty fast even while I was a walking tank toting explosives and heavy weapons.

Crafting is way huge, which sorta makes looting more essential and interesting. Coming from New Vegas, almost having finished all the DLC's, I sure was tired to check every loot container and taking nothing out of it 90% of the time, so it's a bit refreshing to be like: NICE, a telephone!

Crafting and settlement management is what makes the game. Everything else is pretty standard fallout stuff, with the skills being removed and everything being governed by SPECIAL and perks. It's also a typical bethesda game, which has its upsides and downsides. Main upside in any bethesda game is how much stuff you find off the beaten path. Downsides being minor annoyances, weird stuff like you can punch a deathclaw to death, but a glass window can withstand a mini nuke easily, bethesda animations, bethesda dialogues.

Also, bugs, but people who are surprised to see bugs in a bethesda game, have apparently never played one on release or completely unmodded.

i asked this in another thread, but this one seems more appropriate. how big is the f4 map? by comparison to f3 and fnv(which are the larger of those two, as well?

i've played f3 and fnv(with all the addons for both), and enjoyed them immensely(i love free-roam world games, post-apocalyptic games, monster games, crafting games, and character-modding games, so i'm a big fan of the later fallout games so far, despite the glitches/lagging/freezing).

anyway, map sizes. i've seen the video where somebody walked/ran across the map in 11 minutes, but that's not telling me anything in comparison to size as far as f3 and fnv goes.

In man hours, the game is big. I put in 15 and I'm only halfway down one faction questline and just barely did the first other faction quest line. In distance, I think the map may well be a bit smaller, but it's very hard to traverse, because the threats get more and more ridiculous the farther south you go. My gut says it's about 10-30% smaller (I think it's like 15%, but I could be over/underestimating) than new vegas (not counting new vegas DLC areas that more than doubled the size of new vegas.) But it's quite packed with typical bethesda side areas and random encounters and new vegas had this thing where the city of new vegas was quite big, but it was also quite empty (freeside has like three shops, the king's HQ and that robot factory,) even though it had like 4+ building blocks in terms of size. The new vegas side also had like 3 casino's and one shop or something. the major city in Fallout 4 is something between megaton and freeside in terms of size, but it's more packed than megaton with shops, quest npc's and the like.

You also stay at the same places a lot longer, because there's gameplay benefits to fixing up certain places to become livable. Also more of the map is covered with water, but I heard there's a lot of underwater content. Considering power armor allows you to walk on the surface of a lake or a seas and allows you to breathe underwater, it seems plausible there's gonna be some diving adventures.

I was afraid it was gonna be low on content and feel empty, but for me it turned out not to be. If you want to see if it's your thing, I recommend watching a stream for a bit. I found it gives a pretty good feel for what the game is like.

Yes, the map is ALOT smaller, but we don't know whether that is all, or what (as in additional areas, the size of caverns/indoors). Nothing better then strutting down a street in a power suit with 0 power, the beeping noise and rain droplets gathering on the glass of your helmet.

I take it you read only the Power Armour part, for some reason. Thing is, at this point I don't trust Bethesda to be able to deliver a decent Fallout game any more than I trust Ubisoft to come up with a good Heroes. What I read in the Internetz supports that position = no money from me to fatten yet another milk cow franchise.
