Things To Expect
Hey, I'm back. God, it must have been five or six years since my last visit. I'm actually quite surprised my Account is still up and running, what with my inactivity and all, but I digress.
So, I'm someone who's been loyal to the Heroes Franchise since God-knows-when, and I actually stuck around when the travesty that was Heroes 6 was released. That being said, being a huge Dark Elf fan myself, I've grown curious about this new Title and have decided to go against my better judgment and purchase it early tomorrow morning. All things considered, what do you guys things I should expect, or rather, tolerate in my first playthrough?
I think I can hold off Campaign Matches until the guys over at Ubi find it in themselves to release the supposed Patch next week. How does Skirmish/Hotseat Matches Play? Do the Save/Load Features Function Well? Any more red flags I should know about before I dive right in?
I'm not Tech-Saavy in the least, so I don't know the ins and outs of what my Laptop tick, although I am confident in saying that, having been bought early last month, it can pretty much run any game with ease. It's a Laptop made solely for Gaming, by the way, so.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome back, although we never met.
My suggestion is that you start designing a time machine, get back a bit before 3DO bankrupted, try to change that fact, save 3DO, and return.

Eh, you will just waste time. To have a proper experience, best to wait until it is patched, at least.

Seriously? Not one single good thing to say about the game? I mean, I know it's Ubisoft and all, but come on, it can't be that bad now, can it?

Game mechanics are good, as good as any others in the series. Multiplayer matches should function well (I play almost exclusively multiplayer and have had few issues), although there are a few technical bugs you can run into from time to time. Hopefully the upcoming patches deal with some of those.

After patching it, it might provide fun you already has with another game, maybe less. It still depends on fixing issues etc. I wouldn't recommend a game such as that if it doesn't bring something truly groundbreaking, but that's up to your own judgement. Some people here are having fun with it though, although not sure if they couldn't get that same fun with other games or older installments.
Imho, this game has no soul of its own and doesn't justify being made.

What I'm honestly worried about is the Save/Load Function. I can't go leveling up my Hero to 60 just to find out the game Crashed on me.

Based on my experience with Beta 2, I can say that MMH7 is what MMH6 should have been. For some that can be a good thing, but for me it is bad. I do not like the lack of randomness, skill and spell system (though spell system tried to return to the one in H5 but it failed IMO), area of control, three tier creature system, etc. But, these are the things I dislike, it doesn't mean that you will dislike them.
But the fact is that game is a bugfest, and that AI is not that intelligent. These may be fixed, but only time will tell.
EDIT:
Max hero level is 30. And you reach that quite fast.

Level cap is 30. If you have any more questions about the game, it's best to ask them here before buying the game and being disappointed.

I can't imagine any universe in which I would want to play this game because there is nothing in it that appeals,
sometimes I will gravitate towards the charm and simplicity of Heroes 2, the sophistication and customisability of Heroes 3, the experimentation and campaigns of Heroes 4, or the near-perfect gameplay and Quantomas AI of Heroes 5, all of these games have always had something unique to offer,
but Heroes 7 when compared is inferior in all those aspects, does nothing better, and does nothing new, and is basically a safe, downgraded clone dragged into oblivion by a hundred thousand bugs, awful AI and many mind-boggling design decisions lol

I couldn't have said it better myself!
In my opinion, Heroes 6 and 7 are the aliens of the series, the fun ended with the amazing TotE.
To OP: Don't waste your money/time on Heroes 7, at least not yet.
Consider buying it only on a big sale with the most devastating bugs fixed... and don't expect to have much fun anyway.

So, Hot Seat works? I plan to just stick with that until we get the supposed Patch early next week. How about the Save/Load Function?

Since your other post until this one you asked, no patches were released meantime. Save and Load functions might have issues, but it all depends on your computer (they hinted that it's your fault as well for having a unique configuration), given that some people had this problem while others did not. You can always test and ask for refund it things go dire. Unless the Refund function crashes too, then you are doomed to have this game in your Library. ^^

Sorry if I came a bit negative, tried to be not that much. ^^
Another thing you might want to know is that people with Windows 10 had a bit of less issues with the game, if I'm not mistaken. Many stated that Campaigns are fun. It might be one of the safest ways to test it.

Well, i only have suffered few bugs actually. Necropolis second map in the campaign is bugged at the very end so you need to activate the cheats. The autosave saves have worked without any issues for me so far.
There are only 3 or 4 bugs that i have experienced (other than the Necro 2 one). I must have between 12 and 30 hrs of game (keep in mind im a slug tho)
-One stuck loading screen before battle
-One crash before a battle
-One "City blocked by an army" that isnt there. There was also one in Necro-5 map but im not sure if that is supposed to be intentional given some dialogue that appears afterwards
-One bug in Academy-1 when i had to talk to some guy, reloading solved it.
It surely has more bugs than those but at least for me, the experience is miles better than H6 bugfest (those black screens e.e)
Gameplay and Aesthetic wise whether is good or bad needs to you to play it to decide.
