High Ranking Israeli official giving a talk - Typo edited out

Hey guys, a high ranking Israeli official (dunno who due to security) is coming to give a talk tomorrow evening on the Middle-East (actual topic is not disclosed, neither is the location until 6pm today and only to students with clearance lol). It's going to be a single panel due to security reasons (so no opposition) so most of the questions or debating will be done by the audience via questions and retorts.

Sooo, if you guys have any intelligent questions you would like for me to ask post them here, and please note that the diplomat is coming with a detachment of Mossad bodyguards that are likely armed, so I'm not going to ask any questions that might get me shot ( but seriously I don't want to get strangled in my sleep or nothin').

This is-reali sounding a bit suspicious. Are you absolutely sure the guy is a high ranking official? Can't you give us any other information?

I don't know myself, but I imagine Geny, being an engineer in the Israeli army, may have some really good insights on relevant matters that perhaps he himself also would like even further clarification about, so I suggest you hcm him.

That's all I've been given, the facebook page was taken down on the request from the Israeli embassy, so even the venue is oblique, (not before pro-palestinian groups got hold of hit, it's hilarious though cause literally all it says is, some Israeli official is going to give a talk on something, somwhere at sometime ). It is on University grounds (which is huge) so that much I know.

But it's most likely going to be on the Middle-east, at the very least I'll get a subjective insight into the Israeli standpoint that hasn't been filtered by news feeds.

This person is most probably a military attache. When your state isn't in war with the state, which diplomats are invited for a meeting, then they rarely have anything against it. My history teacher from high school was able to set up a meeting with a military official from the US embassy and Israeli vice-emassador, so it's not that big of an issue.

It's way more security and hush hush than what is normal during guest lectures/speeches. The audience is a small group of aprox 20-30 students and 3 lecturers (which never happens all guest speeches/lectures have been open to the public in my last two years at CCCU).

Anyway thought it would be nice to ask the community and then return with a response, saw it as a good opportunity to get an interesting insight.

It would be way easier to formulate some questions if we had an idea about who that important isreali person was. What I'm interested in mostly is the socio-ideological and religious conflicts / movements in the area.

What is the percentage of Palestinians and Jews afflicted with sexual deviations, do the constant state of violence and fear affect that percentage and do religions like Judaism and Islam bring that percentage back down to the Western world average?

Ok just got a message, the diplomat is Rony Yedidia Clein and the topic will be 'Middle East Politics and the Future of the Two State Solution'. She doesn't seem very high-profile to me, but I don't know much about the hierarchy among diplomats, in the message she's a VIP rather than high ranking (with that language not surprising it sounded militarish).

What do you mean by sexual deviations? I assume you mean sexual orientation, but then 'affliction' would be really rude to use. Also you have to underline what you mean by affected by the violence and fear. Obviously most people live in a state of fear on both sides so the minority isn't likely to be any different, or do you mean in the state of tension the sexual minorities are being maltreated?

It was a joke question. I was talking about specific deviations, not the core orientation like straight, gay, and etc. Like absolutely wanting to wear a cat suit while making love kind of deviation.

On a serious matter, I want to warn you that whatever questions you ask will have no impact whatsoever on them, only on you. If you ask pro Palestinian questions, this might end up written on a file about you, which can lead to things like never finding work within the government each time you apply to work in the public. It all depends on the political situation of your country.

If you're ok with that, then do it I guess. Once you ask an obvious Palestinian sided question, I doubt you will be allowed another one ha. At worse you can make them look uncomfortable for a moment. You can always just ask " Do you fully support Palestinian rights to defend themselves" or something like that.

Me I'd go the traitor way. If there is an ideology you hate, fake that you like it. Ask pro Israeli questions, build yourself a fake reputation, and that may lead you to jobs in the future, jobs that would allow you to gather real information to reveal us in the future.

But I am pro Israeli . I just believe that nothing helps iron-out one's stance than good debate, there's no advancement and improvement without scrutiny (this can either be done by yourself or/and through constructive criticism which is what I aim to do). This has to be done by the audience, since due to "security" reasons the Uni wasn't allowed to have a pro Palestinian spokesperson/advocate to debate with Rony so it is left to the students/lecturers.

I'll almost certainly say something along the lines of: 'In recent years there has been a trend in public opinion that has went from what I see as a pro-Israeli to a pro-Palestinian stance, with this in mind is the shifting opinion a concern for you and the Israeli state, and if so how do you aim to restore public opinion as you struggle to deal with the satanic spawns that are Hamas?

Think it's best if you'd use the occasion to ask the questions you might want answered for yourself, rather than try to fit in questions from us. Was recently at a scientific symposium and I could get only 1 or 2 questions through each time a professor talked, so expect the Q&A time to be somewhat tight. One other thing is that whatever questions you might prepare in advance could get treated during the presentation. Get a good understanding of what the subject at hand is about and the ask whatever important question comes to mind. And if it's not much, update us with what the lady said.

Well, no point in faking your opinions to side with the Palestinians, since they are the weaker side and by far. I'm not sure what kind of question you can bring on the table then, if it's not a tough question it's a meaningless one imo, and only a pro Palestinian kind of question would fit the tough part.

If I was there I would ask him or her the question : Are walls, road blocks, fences and other things you build not only to protect Jews and block access from Palestinians but also a psychological attack meant to demoralize or anger them?

I would ask that question because governments are using more and more psychological ways to crush/control certain people and while it's not as hardcore as explosions and such, it is an aspect that many people overlook or don't even realize it exists.

Change the "satanic spawns" part for something else. It just makes you lose credibility when using biblical terms like that.

Not nearly enough is being done, because Hamas is what people like me call: controlled opposition. Implying Mossad involvement. Stage managed Rothschild fronts, just like Putin and the so-called Islamic State.

But I can also explain it in a way squares would understand it. Hamas is what keeps you employed, Hamas is your excuse for further expansion into Palestine. You need Hamas just like the DEA needs the drug trade.

This isn't the 1950's anymore. Everybody got an education now. Of course less people believe Israel. This is why major world players do not expect to fool people anymore, but rather pressure them. The hidden message becomes more and more apparent ; we got guns and unless you want to fight us we don't give a crap about what you think. We'll just slam our official version rather than just say it with a normal tone and you won't even dare speak against it.

Netanyahu and various newspaper already give their best to 'better" their image by calling Hamas terrorists and pointing fingers and inserting the word Defense and Israel together in as many sentence as possible ( Israeli Defense Force, I fully support Israel's right to defend itself, yada yada ), and in my opinion, Israel's reputation will only go downhill from here.

They could try what some Republicans suggested some time ago : let's cut public education funding! Although they can't cut other countries' funding lol.

I don't think you can find a way to sugar coat with media tricks the fact that Israel is violating international law with its illegal settlements. Actions are what matter, not the media game.

Yes this cropped up in the questions, her reply was that they're effective at removing settlements and the illegal expansions will be dealt with as part of negotiations, afterall around 9000 people (or families can't remember which srry) were forcefully removed from Gaza when they gave it up, so they're effective at it. Along those lines.

I've been trying to compile most of the Q/As been really busy with lectures this morning. Yeah, she essentially gave a 20min speech which was frankly a really really watered down history lesson on Israel with a little bias thrown in (such as Palestinians won't negotiate etc) and 40minutes of questions and statements from the crowd. Wholly unnecessary, personally would've just had her give a 5min intro or something as to who she is and her jurisdiction/role, and then straight to the questions.

And yes the Mossad sentinels were intimidating, mostly looked bored till a refugee from Gaza (who got a scholarship I'd assume) spoke, then they went full alert, one manly looking woman was practically breathing down my back.
