   Hi, this is my first post, I hope its easy to read for you,

  I been learning modding for 2 days now, and i read most stuff from http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=20987

    now I can mod creatures with others ability and stats, I also read the file DefaultStats.xbd line by line but still I encountered some problems that I cant find the answer anywhere else.......


   1. I still dont know how to make new skills or copy a exist one to change it, make it different

     for ex. I know I can change the chance for ability_Incorporeal in DefaultStats.xbd, and I want to give Ghost Dragon the same ability with 25% chance but keep the ghost at 50% at the same time

     Or buff the ability taxpayer a bit so other race might get some resources like crystal per day something like that..... I know I need make a new skill for that but I dont even know where to start.... the same goes for Life Drain and Mana Drain, call_down_lightning etc.



   2. I cant find the data for hero specializations other than those already existed in DefaultStats.xbd, like troop special heroes(those who give their special creature half of their lvls attack and def)  or something like "Beloved of the People", "Siege Engineer", "Suzerain", "Coven Mistress" , those kind of things, I cant find it anywhere....
 

    3. I need to know the location for the heroes start stats file, this is very important for me, I need to change the start skill set of hero_Nur, so she can even have a chance to learn the arcane_omniscience, I know Nur is op but not enough for me,

    other heroes might need some work to get them start to shine....if I can find where they hide.....
    I would appreciate if anyone tell me how to make campaign only heroes available on custom game as starting hero choice too.



    4. is there any way to change the tavern heroes showing chance or make it 4 hero for hiring instead of just 2? like 2 own race heroes and 2 other races?


    5. how to make other race creatures use rune magic if thats possible? otherwise if i got Brand the first day in my tavern, I just want to restart........


    6. how can I chose the start town bonus? I know this might be unfair but a defender +1 moral is no where compares to 250 gold per day........ its just 2 much...... I need either remove or change some towns effects so it wont drive me nuts when I feel like playing in a casino....

    7 is there any way to change the skill sets for heroes? I would like to remove some nonsense skills if i cant buff it... or combine them if possible for ex. combine "navigating" with "expert logistics" so when u learn expert logistics u got navigating effects as well
   

   8. is there way to change the path for race ultimate? or change it effects? the Haven one is just a joke........
    no one really use retaliation strike at late game, I want to make the Haven unstoppable charge to apply to all creature hero control and all creatures have Benediction always on during combat, is this possible? please help


   9. is theres a way to change the total skill limits for heroes? like can learn 7 skills group and 4 sub skills for each?
   

  10.is there a way to make hero learn 2 skill or 2 stat increase at each lvlup?
    for ex. wizard have 45% growth chance on K and 30% for P each lvlup, but sometimes my wizard only got 3 P at lvl 15....this is not funny...... I want 2 balance it, give hero a second chance to earn 1 stats that he didnt get but mostly needed.....


    I know these are lots questions but I dont know if I should put them in different posts

    you dont need answer all of them at once,but please help me with the one you know, so I can start woke on other things

well this is actually rly hard. I think even impossible because you Need to get the homm source code - which only nival/ubi has

This things are hardcoded and you need to hexedit them in homm5.exe

well that Needs to be set in every map (open the map with winrar and get to map.xdb. Delete all herochoice (almost at the bottom of the file) and all should be available

That is possible: You can set a new "path" to ultimates changing skills.xdb in Folder gamemechanics/RefTables or RPGStats (dont remember exactly xD). Changing them is another Point: Hardcoded and you Need to hexedit.

Well only quantomas and his Team have done that...

   but the bad news is that I need to learn how to hexedit now
   
    I think if this game is not from Ubisoft, it will be a great game for its time....... so much modding potential and yet they just dumped it like that......
    homm 5 is my most favorite in the whole series, better than 3 for me, and way better than 6.............
   I dont know if you can give me a hint where to find the guide for it?

Well hex editing isnt as easy as it sounds

There was a Topic about hex editing on here around but right now i dont find it.

The best choice is to wait for dredknights answers of ubisoft.

He officialy wrote them and asked if the community can get the source code - which would be so awesome.

Another Thing you could learn to get some nice extra modding skills is lua (programming language). MMH5.5 is based on lua programming by using scripts.

There are several tutorials around for lua programming in Homm 5.
