Catapult too in txt. Elemental magic you can edit too in txt.

This is new then? because at a previous version you left the aladin lamp out of editor objects and i just added its def into text files then it read them.

You must edit HotA txt tables NOT game txt tables. And then HotA DAT using HexD editor.

I addressed SS problem a bit in knightmare heroes mod. Navigation replaced with astromancy and luck enchanced into life magic. And others. Check them and reply in knightmare mods thread.

I was actually thinking of providing some feedback and this seems to be a fitting topic for that.

There are clearly some skills that you desire and some that you get stuck with in HMM 3. Is there anything worse then gaining a level and getting to choose between Eagle Eye or Navigation (on a map that has no water)?

Here are my thoughts on some of the skills that I feel could use some attention in the future.

Necromancy - it has been nerfed in HoTa as far as I can see along with the components for Cloak of The Damned. However, that item alone is very much game braking. So the nerf I would propose would be to the item itself rather then Necromancy as a skill. I would rather have it increase Necromancy skill of hero wearing it by 100% then allow you to raise Liches. That is way too strong.

Diplomacy - probably the most OP skill in game. Acquire visions spell along with diplomacy and there you go. You won. Just pick your fights and claim as many creatures as you can. What I would suggest is that it gets toned down. A maximum 30% of the creatures you are attacking will join (for gold or for free) and the rest disappear. OR, make it so that the only troops that would join are those from your own faction. I still think that it would remain OP even what those nerfs but at least it would get toned down a bit. When you are playing against human opponent, not having diplomacy means you lose.

Eagle Eye - this is a totally useless skill that I even fail to imagine a significant buff for in order for it not to be THAT useless. Perhaps if it would allow a hero to learn a spell DURING the combat then MAYBE it would be meaningful at least a bit. It would still mean nothing later in the game but that would be something. If it was up to me, I would merge Eagle Eye and Scholar into one skill.

Ballistics and Artillery are also two skills I would merge into one. While both CAN be Ok-ish once in a while, I would not pick any of them on purpose. If they were 2 in 1 thing then - perhaps.

Navigation - Yet another skill that HMM could probably do without. It would be best served merged with Path finding.

Sorcery and learning could go together as well as none of these two are good enough to be picked on their own. Even then it would not make the skill an automatic pick but it would give it at least a bit more value.

That's about it. All other skills serve their purpose imho.

Current set of "I win skills" imo are:

Earth Magic
Air Magic
Wisdom,
Diplomacy
Then whatever (I prefer to have Logistics among other things)

I agree with a lot of what you are saying Worros.
I have been bothering the main HotA thread for a while now, wishing for them to do something about the unbalanced stuff, mostly the skills, but also artifacts and spells, but I won't bother that thread no more so I started this instead.
There are people who believe the skills should stay how they are cause they are a part of the original game design and respects the developers too much to alter anything. Then there are guys like me, who would like a change to the most obvious imbalances, but I'm not a modder and hex editing is hard, especially if you have no idea what you are changing.

I'm not a fan of merging skills, decreases the possibilities imo. But I would like to buff a lot of the useless skills and maybe nerf Logistics and Diplomacy, maybe Offense, but I'm not sure about that.

But a map maker can do much himself, as I have learned through the years.

I think it would give nice new possibilities and strategies to the game both in multiplayer and single player if they change the useless skills. Because at least you would have to choose carefully between skills, more possible hero builds, and also could cover the gap between might and magic heroes. Also would be nice if they balance the magic schools (spell damage or new spells). Now the order is clear. It would be more interesting if the decision between magic schools was not that obvious.

For example balance with new spells (lvl 5 water, Flood - Armageddon like but you choose from which line the flood starts.) etc...

And I trust in HoTA team enough if they decide to change the skills they can't fail, I am sure.

I'm in favour of bumping some of the more useless skills. Learning has already been mentioned, so I'm going to propose that Eagle Eye gets changed from Level 2-40%, Level 3-50%, Level 4-60% to something more like Level 3-40%, Level 4-60%, Level 5-80%.

There is a caveat there though, since mixing more than two town types results in a morale penalty.

play a lot of H3, WoG and H4. Now I see the world of skill but I am careful therefore I say my opinion. Because my tendency is raw. Ok I wrote "My opinion and wish about the Heroes 8", even if original thought was been balanced H3. Ok I will show you!

A). The Secondary Skills

Each hero can have up to 8 Secondary Skills.

ARCHERY - Basic 10%, Adv. 20%, Expert 30%, Master 40% and GM 50%

Speciality 10%.

OFFENSE - Basic 10%, Adv. 20%, Expert 30%, Master 40% and GM 50%.

Specialty 10%

ARMORER - Basic 10%, Adv. 20%, Expert 30%, Master 40% and GM 50%.

Specialty 10%

RESISTANCE - Basic 10%, Adv. 20%, Expert 30%, Master 40% and GM 50%.

Specialty 10%
Resistance also take half damage from spell attacks.

LEADERSHIP - Basic +1 Morale & Luck, Adv. +2 Morale & Luck, Expert +3 Morale & Luck, Master +4 Morale & Luck and GM +5 Morale & Luck.

Speciality -

BALANCED (A new Secondary Skill) - Basic 5% Health Point & Damage, Adv. 10% Health Point & Damage, Expert 15% Health Point & Damage, Master 20% Health Point & Damage and GM 25% Health Point & Damage.

Specialty -
No Elixir of Life

TACTICS - Basic +1 Speed, Adv. +2 Speed, Expert +3 Speed, Master +4 Speed and GM +5 Speed.

ARTILLERY - The same, but Master adds on -1 Speed to creature and GM takes -2 Speed.

Ballista has 300 Hit Point, thus you can buy many Ballistae.

BALLISTICS - The same, but Master adds on 1-3lvl Anti-Magic and GM gives 1-5lvl completely Magic Immune.

Speciality -
Only one Catapult.

FIRST AID - The same as WoG: all cure and resurrection, but GM regenerates up to 200 health, so 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200. Master and GM means all cure and resurrection.

Specialty -
First Aid Tent has 75 Hit Point, thus you can buy many First Aid Tents, but one First Aid Tent costs 200 gold, if you buy another First Aid Tent, it always pay extra i.e. 200, 400, 800, 1600, etc

NECROMANCY - The same H4

Speciality 10%
A new Cloak of the Undead King gives H3 growth speed style, so GM means 30% faster.

DIPLOMACY - The same H3, but Master -80% to surrendering cost and GM -100% to surrendering cost.

Specialty -
No Diplomacy artifacts

ESTATES - The same H4

Specialty 10% plus one extra resource.
Capitol you get a 1000 gold in a day. H4 style.

LEARNING - The same WoG, but 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and GM 25%

Specialty 10%

STEALTH - H4 style

PATHFINDING - H4 style

Skill can also no movement penalties on the battlefield.

Specialty -
You can't get a full spell point in a town. Magic Well gives +50%, Magic Spring gives 100% to hero's spell regeneration and H4 mana potion gives extra 25 spell point, thus Intelligence is removed.

SORCERY - The same H3, but Master 20% and GM 25%

Specialty 10%
Yes artifact, but one Sorcery Orb gives +25% (works with Sorcery skill), Thus Dark Orb (RoE style) and Blood Orb.

WISDOM - Basic 1lvl, Adv. 2lvl, Expert 3lvl, Master 4lvl and GM 5lvl

Specialty -

AIR, EARTH, FIRE and WATER - The same H3.

Specialty -

EFFECT (A new skill gives spell duration) - Basic 2, Adv. 4, Expert 6, Master 8, and GM 10. None means 1.

Speciality -
Yes artifacts give extra 1, 2, and 3, depends on artifact level.
