AI Fix: Need Interpretation

I have made a custom map, and like many other people have complained about custom maps - the AI isn't doing much of anything at all on it.  However, I have seen some solutions posted about this that got a positive response.

Below is one solution I found posted on GameReplays.org by vyvjala.  The problem is that I completely don't understand its meaning.  What is a "point," and what is meant by "boxes," and so on?  Can somebody translate this for me?  Thanks.

Make sure your points are fitted correctly into their colored sectors - no flashing colors when you enable the overlay.

Also, some issues arise when you have a point too close to another object or when it is using more than the typical 9 squares on the grid. Turn on the impass overlay and see how many boxes your point is using. I try to keep mine restricted to 9 and you can do this by slightly moving its position.
